Our architecture firm worked with Philip and his stellar crew on a new house in White Salmon, Washington. The process, from start to finish, was streamlined and efficient, with the added dose of friendly good humor. Our design was not straightforward construction -- there was steel framing surrounding expansive window walls, corten siding, solar panels, and included details such as a patinated copper front door. Hainline Construction was up to the task and more. I would highly recommend Philip and his crew!

When you're about to start a house build, you're not just dealing with the financial and logistical implications - you're also committing to long-term working relationships with all of the people involved in actually building your house. Having had bad experiences with contractors in the past, my wife and I put more focus on interviewing builders upfront, weighing both the reputation of the builder and our impressions after speaking with them about our project. Philip Hainline came out as the clear front runner for us during this process. Not only does he have a lot of very satisfied customers around the gorge, but he also treated us with respect, and gave us honest assessments and estimates from the get-go. As our house construction got underway, we were impressed by Philip’s ability to relay important information to us in a timely manner. This included how material pricing was fluctuating and how we could mitigate it, as well as how weather would affect the timing of different phases of the build. During our project, Philip used a website called Buildertrend to upload images of build progress and upload any documents we needed such as change orders. This was very helpful to us as we were living about an hour away from our new property. But it’s also important to remember that you’re hiring more than just the GC - you’re also, by extension, hiring all of the subcontractors they work with. And overall, we were extremely happy with the crew that Philip entrusted with building us a beautiful home. Some highlights for us were the concrete pouring, plumbing, woodworking, tiling, and flooring. With the woodworking in particular, we were really impressed with the thoughtfulness put into details such as the joinery and the custom staircase. We’re well aware that we were fairly detail-oriented clients, giving a lot of feedback and suggestions during the construction process. Philip was very understanding and empathetic with all of this - it felt like a very collaborative experience with both Philip and his crew, with everyone being eager to create the best house possible. The end result is a truly amazing home that was built start-to-finish within the estimated timeframe, which we truly cannot comprehend. And all of this for a price that was close to Philip’s initial estimate (with the exception of choices we made along the way that we knew would increase cost). It’s not often that we hire a contractor for a small project that we would then emphatically recommend to others, much less a contractor for a project as big as building a house. But this is one of the easiest recommendations we could ever make. If you want to build a beautiful house and have the best experience along the way, hire Hainline Construction - it’s as simple as that.

Phil and his crew at Hainline Construction recently completed a two car garage for us. Phil assisted us with our initial design ideas and provided very practical recommendations that fit with materials supply and construction. Phil is super easy to communicate with and we were always aware of his crew's, as well as the sub-contractor's, schedules. All of Hainline's crew members are super knowledgeable in all aspects of construction and have an amazing work ethic. Never once did we wonder "Where is Phil's crew today" ? Three years ago my wife Tami and I decided we needed to downsize our home from the 14 acre log framed house above the Gorge which we loved. We had visions of a cozy cabin with weathered timber a large kitchen and cozy intimate living room. Philip came to us as a recommendation by our real estate broker. It couldn't have worked out better! The project took three years from inception with a few hitches along the way - including a redesign, the pandemic and all the supply side disruptions. Philip was patient and extremely helpful along the way! Once we broke ground, Philip's crew was amazing. Each and every individual showed a passion for what they were doing and always put the customer first. Along the way, several modifications from the plan were needed. Philip and his crew were collaborative and always working towards achieving the customers vision. These guys rocked! Philip was equally attentive with project management and always anticipated supply issues to keep things on track along the way. Good communications, honesty and giving the customer what they envisioned were always his priority. During construction, we added back several elements to the project which were eliminated because of early price increases. This was only possible only because Philip came through with cost savings on materials through carefully monitoring the markets and anticipating price fluctuations. As an example, he advised that we pre-purchase our joists because a 30% price increase 5 months before construction. In the mean while he stored them in his driveway - amazing!! In the end, the project came in on time and below budget, and we got exactly what we dreamed of!! Philip gets our highest recommendation, Dennis and Tami

My family and put Hainline Construction on contract in the Summer of 2021. The project was delayed starting due to the county having issues with water mitigation on one of the lots in the subdivision. It was absolutely no fault of Hainline Construction. We finally received our permits in November of 2021. My family and I moved into our beautiful new home at the end of July 2022. During the entire process Philip Hainline and his team were great to work with. They were proactive, honest, considerate to our requests and changes, skillful in the art of building and always worked until everything was just right. Philips team has an eye for detail and would do the extra things that make clients happy. One example was that we had some butcher block left over from a counter. One of Philips guys brought it home, finished it and brought it back for us as a cutting board. He said that he was trying to get a little “extra credit”. I thought this was such a nice gesture. I’m a project/program manager by trade. I know what it takes to plan complex projects. Hainline Construction did a great job in this category. His online tools and communication made things go as smooth as possible. Philip maintained cost, schedule and performance. There were no surprises. Working with Hainline Construction was the best experience I've ever had with a contractor, bar none. Philip led the construction of my large, new house in a professional, organized and skillful manner. Not only are Philip and his crew expert craftsman and familiar with all types of techniques and materials, but they are hard working, diligent, efficient, considerate, and polite. Philip keeps a running schedule, tracks his budget, and documents decisions using a simple online software that inspires a lot of confidence that he is paying attention and the project is going according to plan. Things come up on projects, and what would have been difficult conversations with any other contractor ended up being friendly, rational, amicable discussions with Philip. My project finished several weeks ahead of schedule and slightly under budget despite being started in Dec 2020 and facing all of the materials and labor challenges that COVID presented. I've been involved with dozens of residential, commercial. and industrial construction projects, and Hainline Construction is at the top of the game. Can't recommend them enough.

Hainline Construction did an amazing job from start to finish with our home remodeling project. We did a full kitchen remodel as well as new doors, handlesets, and floor/window trim throughout the entire house, Philip, Caleb and the rest of the crew were always calm, kind, competent and professional no matter what and that really helped us as we journeyed through the entire process. We are thrilled with the results and continue to be so appreciative of how well everything went as well as the outcome.
