My wife and I decided to finally finish our basement after expecting our 2nd child and had absolutely no idea where to start. We absolutely needed a spare bedroom, extra full bath, and a living room for out-of-town guests. We interviewed a few general contractors that basically asked us what we wanted, but did little in the way of offering any design ideas and concepts. Steven Kocab, President of Heritage Homes/Foam Tech Solutions was referred in by a business associate. He laid out a few different design concepts that maximized our space and gave us exactly what we were looking for. I had mentioned that I wanted to work in a salt water fish tank somewhere and that became the focal point of the bar that we originally didn't think that we had the space for. Ultimately what was completed is 1100 square feet of absolutely amazing space that has completely changed the usability of our home. Incredibly, the price that we paid was well below our other quotes but included so much more (for example custom tiled shower vs. plastic insert, marble floors vs. cheaper tile, soft closing bar cabinets vs. a much more inferior cabinet, etc. etc.). Steve was able to purchase much of the materials at 20%-30% lower than what I was quoted initially. Also, Steve owns a spray-foam trailer system that he used to insulate half of our walls and ceilings in the basement prior to the drywall going in. This has helped the overall efficiency of our home, makes the basement a warmer space, and acts as sound proofing from noise escaping upstairs. Most people that have seen the project require convincing that it was not a six-figure project and when I give a ball park figure of what we paid they are shocked. All in all it was a great investment and maybe the coolest space that we see anywhere.
