The project was executed well and we had a good understanding of what to expect throughout the process. Nick was always good about following up on any questions or concerns we had through the process. Ultimately, the finished product was beautiful and it reclaimed a lot of utility in under utilized spaces on our main floor.

Jacobson Construction helped us replace and install all new windows in our 1941 house. A big project! Rick was fantastic in getting us high quality windows with great attention to all the details that make a difference - functionality, sizing, design, finish, removal of old windows, framing and installation of new windows. Working with Jacobson construction was a great experience. We built our house several years ago and needed to repair a false chimney that had not been properly constructed and had significant storm damage. Nick, our project manager at Jacobson, worked with us throughout the project. He kept us updated, incorporated our feedback, and explained what they were finding as they began demolition. In particular, we very appreciated that the crew looked for additional damage and gave us the option to repair it (which we did). The quality of the construction was top-notch. This was our first major renovation project and we are very happy with the finished product. The crew was friendly, respectful, and did great work. Rick was responsive throughout the project and had a open line of communication.

Our remodeling project was limited to our master bath, but given the challenges, that was no small matter. It was complicated because we were still living in the adjacent bedroom, the pandemic was causing restrictions, the supply and coordination with multiple subcontractors was also difficult, and the owner (me) was a demanding architect as well. Jacobson and our interior designer worked hand in hand with us to iron out all the design details, and with a bathroom, there are a surprising number of decisions to face. Jacobson has an experienced knack for anticipating most of the design issues, for anticipating all of the scheduling and coordination issues, and for anticipating the timely procurement of materials and specialty items that impact the schedule. The demolition went very quickly, and the house and our adjacent bedroom were well protected. Jacobson has tremendous relationships with his subcontractors, and each one Jacobson brought in perfectly executed their own specialty. Again, they were extremely professional and also anticipated the issues we would encounter for their part of the installation. With Rick Jacobson's uncanny ability to secure the necessary materials and specialty items in a timely way, our remodel project finished on time and within our budget. Really remarkable workmanship, and we're thrilled with everything.

We purchased a condo that needed a total renovation; floors, ceilings, plumbing, cabinets and rewiring. The walls were faux painted in the 90’s and were painted to look like slick concrete and required the correct preparation. We gutted both bathrooms and the kitchen. A lot of tiling which turned out perfect. We met with 3 contractors and it was easy to decide to go with Rick. The HOA had a long list of rules to be followed for contractors. Rick took on those challenges and the relationship went well. Primarily because Rick is so amazing to work with. He’s respectful and works to build a connection with others. Rick has many good ideas and is open to you presenting your thoughts, though he may tweak it to make it even better. We met almost daily for a briefing to get any good or bad news. Even though we added many components over the course of the project, he was able to bring it in on time. He provided a weekly schedule. His crew was great, Dave, Charlie and Chaz, you’ll miss them when it’s over. They take the time to make it right. Rick is on site a lot of the time and is very picky how all work is done. The subcontractors he selected were excellent. Showed up when they were supposed to and completed impressive quality of their craft. In summary, Rick took a condo that was uninhabitable and turned it into a pleasant, welcoming place we call home. Thank you Rick.

Rick Jacobson was wonderful to work with. When we decided to remodel our main floor, we needed a contractor who had the time for the job, the qualified teams for the details and the care and concern to communicate in a timely manner about issues that needed to be addressed when they arose. The kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms were the key focus, and raising the ceilings in those rooms was part of the initial unknowns. With a 1972 home, code would dictate expenses that aren't usually fun to spend. As unknowns were uncovered, Rick was professional and thorough about our options. Rick went out of his way to deliver. We all worked well together, poked fun at each other and were friends through it all. The inconvenience of the remodeling was surpassed by the results we wanted and the friendships gained. One can't say that about most remodeling.

We signed on with Jacobson Construction to completely rebuild and remodel our bathroom in a 100+-year-old unit. We are just delighted with the result. Everyone who worked on the project did precision work and took the time needed to do it right, and we were very comfortable with the workers being in our home. The plumbing, the venting and electric, the rebuild of the walls and floor, the detailed tiling, the painting, all were first-rate, and we feel we chose well when we went with an experienced, seasoned pro who knows all the ropes, including how to deal with an older building. Most of all, we are thrilled with the completely new bathroom, which looks and feels like a spa. We wanted a soaking tub and now have an oasis! Rick and his team did a wonderful job recreating our master bath into a relaxing retreat. Rick is honest, helpful, never pushy, and does a nice job communicating through every step of the project. His team arrived and worked hard every day. They were talented, professional, courteous and did a great job ensuring the job was done to to our liking. Each day the house was prepped (tarps, etc.) and cleaned up well. Rick was great to work with and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him or use him again on future projects.

I hired Jacobson Construction to remodel my condo prior to my moving in. Rick was extremely helpful during the design process. He worked in close partnership with my interior designer to develop the project's design and budget. He contributed several key design ideas. Rick skillfully managed the construction process, staying within budget save for one or two of the inevitable unknowns inherent in an older building remodel. Rick's work and that of his subcontractors is first rate and I was completely satisfied with the result. I've had several people tell me I have the nicest looking unit in the building.

Rick was the first of 10 GC's we met throughout the decision making process. We selected Rick because he was patient, knowledgable and had years of experience. We trusted him to renovate our ENTIRE home. There was not one space that he and his team didn't touch. He helped us stay close to our target budget even when surprises popped up (you never know what you are going to find when you knock down walls). He thought outside of the box to save as much money as possible. He ALWAYS answered our text messages or phone calls promptly no matter how many questions or how late. In addition, it's not often that you can say a GC's subs are a pleasure to work with. Dave, Tony, Steve, Bill are all great. Overall, we are very pleased with his work. Rick is honest, easy to work with, and an overall nice guy. I was pregnant during the renovation and him and his team did everything they could to make sure it was done before our little one arrived. Rick was easy to contact and was very attentive in answering any and all of our questions regarding the project. We are amazed at the finished product and are so happy with it. In addition to all his coordination and effort on our kitchen and family room renovation there were some small painting projects around the house that me and my husband were going to do on our own and he was more than willing to offer us advice on what to use and some simple tips and tricks. We recently finished our basement which was the second project we've worked on with Rich in the past two years (we previously remodeled our kitchen in Oct 2015). Due to the quality and partnership from the kitchen project, we didn't even consider other contractors for this basement project. Our basement was unfinished and was used only for laundry and storage. Our goals for the project were to add a second bathroom, update laundry room, make a large living space, and maintain some storage space. Rick worked closely with us on the development of the plan and came up with something beyond our expectations that we couldn't be happier with. During the actual work, the team was respectful of our home and left the worksite clean every day. They also made it a point to bring us along in the process and took the time to answer any questions we had. Two thirds of our house has now been remodeled, and if we decide to do any additional work Rick will be our first, and only, call when the time comes.

Project: Update and upgrade of front of home; window and door trim; repair and/or replacement of wrought iron work. My home is 60 years old and was in need of some minor repairs as well as an updated look. Having worked with Rick in the past on both interior and exterior projects I knew that he would help me find the 'look' that I wanted, and then ensure that it was done in a timely manner. He is the consummate professional. Not only is he creative, but his knowledge of structure and his attention to detail are superb. He always stretches my original plans with either new materials or new applications. For this project he suggested taking out the red brick, shaping the wall under the bow window added years before and using architectural stone across the front of the house. All very good ideas! And then topped it off by putting pavers on the front step. I am thrilled with the results and have gotten numerous positive comments from the neighbors! Rick is a skilled and passionate contractor. I have recommended him to many others.

Jacobson Construction remodeled a 1970 Laundry Room into an up to date Laundry Room. There were many technical challenges associated with this seemingly straight forward project. Rick and his team were excellent to work with on this project. They were very respectful of our house and our time. We were kept up to date on schedule, building inspections and construction issues.

Rick Jacobson came to us with high recommendations from an individual who expects nothing short of perfection. Rick’s project for us was to replace our very old windows. He guided us through the selection and ordering process. He and his experienced crew then showed up on time and as scheduled, going about their business efficiently installing the beautiful windows. Jacobson Construction has performed the following home improvements over the 22 years we have owned our home: 4-season sun porch addition, full basement finishing, including bedroom, bar/kitchen, wine room, furnace repositioning and custom workshop, full bathroom, rec/TV room, reading nook, and 3-station study/computer room; full kitchen remodel including new appliances, custom cabinets and granite, stone floors; 3-car to 4-car heated/insulated garage with second-story private balcony; and complete re-build of our basement after water damage (failed sump pump). Last summer our battery back-up sump failed during a 3-day power outage, and Rick Jacobson and his team again rebuilt the entire basement, with even better finishes and granite replacing the old countertops in the study room. (Now I have a whole-home generator.) His work ethic is without equal, and he's honest about both time and cost. (You can go with that bid that is 10% less, but the "add" and "change" orders will kill you and eat up 10+%, so Rick staying on target and on-bid actually saves you money and headaches). He's the real deal and will continue to do all my jobs at home and in my workplace. He and his team clean up after themselves, and the actual work is superb. I'm a plastic surgeon so I sweat the small stuff, and so does Rick. There may be others that claim to be as good, but Jacobson delivers consistent and quality results you can depend on. He stands behind his work and is honest and dependable. What else can I say--call Jacobson.

We are DYI people and try to be savvy shoppers during projects to keep budgets on track. However there are times it is wise to hire a professional and Rick Jacobson is that guy. We have hired Rick for many projects (big & small) over the past 18 years. 1. Enlarging basement bedroom and additional storage. 2. Bathroom remodel - Created beautiful tiled shower in basement to replace a small corner prefab one. Easily twice the size and a good 6 inches taller. 3. Replaced all our exterior doors and windows with precision. All windows continue to open and close effortlessly years later. Rick made sure we had all the paperwork for energy efficient tax rebate. 4. Enlarged kitchen doorway and relocated header out of sight in attic space with stunning results. 5. His recommendations for subcontractors have been good as well. Have used same carpet installer for additional projects. No matter what size of project you are doing Rick is always professional, stays in communication, respectful of home interior, clean up and doesn't leave a job until we are satisfied. Rick has welcomed us working alongside him. We have learned so much and truly respect his skill and expertise. During our recent kitchen remodel we needed to hire a drywall crew ASAP after ours was a no show at the last minute. Got 4 estimates in 24 hours. Decided to take the bid that was $850 less than Rick. Huge mistake. When we hired Rick for finish trim it was obvious what a shoddy drywall job it was. Because of his experience Rick was able to make all the trim work look perfect. We are still stuck with a shoddy drywall job. You can always find someone to do it cheaper and you will live with that for years.
