I cannot say enough about the great job that Jim Hall and his hard-working construction crew did for us. Our home was not a standard "stick-built" home, but rather was a modern timber frame construction which he had not done before. The quality and workmanship exceeded our expectations and we absolutely love living in this house. There were many challenges in building this house including a narrow waterfront site with little or no room for materials, a working Bed & Breakfast next door that required all contractors to take special care to be as quiet and neat as possible during the build, and a very narrow roadway that made it difficult and sometimes impossible for big trucks to access the site. Jim took it all in stride and met each challenge calmly and kept the owners (us) calm as well. I recommend Jim HIGHLY. He's not only a great builder and general contractor, but a great guy as well.

Jim Hall served as contractor/builder for our FabCab in 2012/2013. We chose Jim because he had experience with timber frame construction, he was very competitively priced, and because he seemed like a really nice guy. Looking back, we are very pleased with our choice. He stayed within budget and his crew was professional and friendly. Any changes we wanted to make throughout the process were welcomed, and we always knew up front how our decisions fit in the budget. Even today, he remains responsive to any of our requests for assistance with our home. When we asked him how long after construction was completed would he help us with repairs, changes, new ideas.....he said "forever". Now that's customer service! And, he turned out to be a really nice guy. We are friends to this day, and would recommend him to anyone. All in all Jim provided exactly the kind of service we were looking for.

We are working with Jim to do a major update of our house on Camano Island; this is an 'in-progress' review. We chose to work with him after interviewing a number of other contractors. As the scope of the job included nearly every room in the house and was, therefore, not fully specified up front, Jim's cost-plus approach to contracting made us feel considerably more comfortable with the ability to estimate, monitor and control costs. We get monthly updates on cost and, when appropriate, are provided the information we need to make cost trades and decide which way to go forward. After working through a basic approach to the job (which will go on for some time over several phases) and taking into account a number of suggestions from Jim that both improved the project and saved us money, we worked with a designer he suggested to refine our plans and select finishes. Jim provided a rough timeline for the work and has kept us up-to-date regularly throughout the past 2 months as work has progressed; he really feels much more like a collaborator on this job than a hired hand and is very much attuned to how we want this house to turn out. The quality of the work to date has been excellent, he has a long-term relationship with all of the subs and that familiarity shows both in the communication and in the timeliness of getting the trades in at the right time during a relatively busy time. His own craftsmen have also done excellent work and having skilled carpenters on staff makes for a very efficient overall job. We will continue to update this review as the job continues (expected completion date is late February/early March for the first phase of the remodel) but can state, 2 months in, that we are extremely happy with the decision to partner with Jim on the project.

Jim, the General Contractor, is doing an outstanding job. Every individual he brings to our home (plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.) is thorough, of the highest standard and very professional when working with us. Our home is almost done and we cannot wait to see our finished house! His team is fantastic!
