As part of the process of building our dream home and dealing with the overwhelming number of interior design choices following our retirement, we had the wonderful opportunity to work with Jessie Sweet of Jessie Sweet Designs. We initially became familiar with Jessie through our well-known, custom-home builder who has been working with Jessie on a regular basis for quite a number of years. At first, we were a bit apprehensive as we had not worked with an interior design person in the past. One of our largest concerns was that we were afraid that we might feel “pushed” into some choices that we might feel uncomfortable with. However, our fears were immediately dispelled, and we were quickly put at ease after meeting with Jessie. It was quickly evident that working with Jessie was going to reduce the enormous task of interior design to an enjoyable experience. Jessie assisted us in developing an itemized budget and always showed the utmost respect to stay within those budget numbers. Utilizing Jessie proved to be one of the best decisions we made throughout the process. She has the unique ability to listen to both of our ideas and unique styles. Jessie is an extremely talented interior designer being well-versed in all aspects of design. Her vast knowledge of interior design, product, style and installation are tremendous. We explained to Jessie that in general, we were looking for a refined, luxurious, timeless and modern aesthetic; an extremely comfortable home where we could age in place. Jessie helped us achieve our desires by patiently and tirelessly assisting us throughout the process. She utilized her preferred installers that are all true craftsmen. Jessie and all of her recommendations stood behind their products and workmanship. We appreciated and enjoyed the numerous “field trips” that she arranged to explore and consider potential materials. Jessie stayed with us throughout the process and was extremely hands-on. She is a great listener with a calm demeanor. We couldn’t be more pleased with the end-result. Jessie has asked if we would do anything different regarding interior design and we can truly say that we wouldn’t change a thing. Every time we come home, we fall in love with the breathtaking design and functionality of our new home all over again.

I have done two projects with Jessie and both have been wonderful experiences with beautiful construction. I highly recommend Jessie for your next project. My first project was in Beaverton - a refresh to our bathrooms, new carpet, paint, tile, etc. Jessie was the general contractor (GC) and provided interior design services, too. Our second project was a major renovation/addition to our home in Central Oregon. With this second project, Jessie served as our interior designer and coordinated with our local GC. Also, just as a point of reference, my husband and I have built three custom homes in Beaverton so we have a lot of experience with contractors! Jessie has the full package skills you want in a high caliber GC. She is a good manager and communicator. She is smart and knows her business well. If she doesn't know about a topic, she researches it and gets back to you. She has high quality standards with her subs and only works with subs that can provide excellent craftsmanship. She runs a small shop which I like as a customer because when she takes on your job, she commits to having the time to do it well. You're not just a job number. And, she is so easy to work with - pleasant, professional, caring and involved. Her enthusiasm can be infectious. If you have a project concept, I think you would be well-served to contact Jessie about it. I would gladly work with Jessie again on another project!

When we decided to build our forever home, I knew I needed someone with design skills to help me. My builder suggested I call Jessie. Within 10 minutes of meeting her, I knew she would be a perfect fit. She immediately went to work for me, and we spent a lot of time together for almost 2 years! We met at multiple locations picking out tile, paint, cabinets, plumbing, flooring, light fixtures, etc. She found out what kind of vibe I was going for, and she helped me focus. It’s an overwhelming job to design a 7,000 sq. ft. home, and I could not have done it without her. I was told from the start that I could involve her as much or as little as I wanted, and I ended up using her as much as I could. She is very knowledgeable in all aspects of design, and I was very impressed at how well she interacted with all the subs who respected her suggestions.. I have recommended her to my friends, and give her a 5 star rating with confidence! We have become friends along the way, and will hopefully continue our friendship. She is top notch, and you can’t go wrong by hiring her to help you with your remodeling or new construction projects.

Jessie was a delight to work with. She helped us transform a very large shadowy storage room into a community center for our church’s music department. I was working on a limited budget. Jessie offered us a non-profit rate and worked hard to efficiently and effectively utilize limited hours. She provided a free software we could collaborate using for room measurements and design which helped me be more self-sufficient. Her vision for the space really helped us build the uses we need into this center. It has transformed the look and feel of the space. Returning to in-person activities following the isolation of COVID, this room is just what we need to build and rebuild our sense of music and church community! Thank you Jessie!

We hired Jesse for our bathroom remodel and it came out better than we could have wished for! She is very responsive and took time to make sure we loved each detail. In a time of many contractors being understaffed, she kept in contact with us constantly and was responsive to our questions and inquires. We would highly recommend her and would use her again for future projects.

“We don’t want it to look like old people live here.” That’s what we initially told designer Jessie Sweet, in anticipation of our remodeling project (two full bathrooms and a powder) for our 40-year old townhouse located in a senior area south of metropolitan Portland. Not having been in the game of updating for a number of years, we raced for the newsstand's collection of design magazines for current ideas at the project's beginning. But we eventually found that Jessie’s matter-of-fact, simple guidance and her keen awareness of our home's needs and budget outweighed any trendy glitz on glossy pages. The project wasn’t an easy one from the “get-go”. Problems (mold and foundational issues) posed a rougher beginning than expected. And, who could have initially guessed that the COVID pandemic would result in such ongoing delays and on so many fronts? As seniors, we learned to be patient noting that worker availability and material delivery couldn’t always be managed by anyone. We learned that extreme weather with week-long losses in electricity could not be predicted nor could bouts of illness. We learned to be kind to Jessie’s subcontractors who did brave the weather and cared about doing such a good job. And, our out-of-state daughter (who is a builder), learned that Mom and Pop could find a credible, trusted designer with whom she came to approve. We learned that family patience and dynamics do matter, especially in remodeling. Thankfully, Jessie accepted and guided us through difficult times, acutely sensitive to our needs. Finalizing the “punch list” of small details was as important to Jessie as was the project’s start. We highly recommend her as one who is reputable and cares personally about her clients. Old people DO live here. And, two seniors are now more than enjoying spa-like beautiful bathrooms appropriate for any age group, thanks to Jessie Sweet.
