When I went looking for a new contractor for a small remodel on my house I checked on the Houzz website for suggestions and I am glad I did as this led to John’s company. It has been a pleasure working with him and his crew. He has a wealth of knowledge. And he stays in touch, a very important point with me as in the past I have had contractors who did not. He has guided me through the whole process of taking a wall down to half size, replacing a stove top, putting in a new front door and bunch of other changes that have allowed the house to feel more open and spacious. And when I have suddenly come up with new ideas he and his crew did not hesitate to make it so. I will definitely be calling on him the future when I need help and I will highly recommend his company to anyone needing a contractor who gets the job done right.

When we began the process of renovating an earlier addition to our second home in Grover Beach, we met with John Kilpelainen of John K Construction to review the proposed work. John listened carefully to all our desired improvements and offered several suggestions for modest additions that really improved the appearance and function of the project. John exhibited a very friendly style of professionalism and construction knowledge throughout the project. He was always agreeable to our requests for scope changes and help with work outside his contract--he unhesitatingly transported our household junk to the dump and even allowed us to used his workman to assemble new items of furniture. Since we live out of the area and only get to the house periodically, John provided rapid responses to our email, so we could keep abreast of the work and furnish timely selections of owner-specified materials. John was often on the job site performing much of the work and was always available for questions. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, and we are so very pleased with the final product. John's friendly style allayed all of our initial concern about a distant work project. We will definitely use John K Construction again and are already planning a future renovation to the front of the house. We highly recommend that others who are looking to do a project at your home consider using John K Construction. John's knowledge of construction, his method of communication, and his follow through on details is excellent!

John and his workers helped us complete a full house remodel- both bathrooms, kitchen, painting, windows, flooring, you name it! They not only exceeded my expectations with the final outcome, but were honest, knowledgeable, and hard working. John has an eye for detail. When he is done, everything is perfect. Any questions or concerns, and he spends as much time as he needs to make sure you are satisfied and understand everything he is doing. He suggested many upgrades I had never even thought of that will make our house safer and more durable as the years go by. He is thorough in his research and follow through. We also were very happy with the sub-contractors he used. They were timely and did high quality work. John and his workers are friendly to work with and are men of integrity. There were many times where they would work at our house when we were away, and I never once worried. His billing invoices are detailed and we were charged fairly and honestly. Overall we are extremely pleased with the services we received, and absolutely love the transformation of our home! We will use John K Construction again for sure, and I recommend him to all of local friends and family.

Great job! Amazing attention to detail and concern to make the project exactly what we wanted. He replaced our front door and the craftsmanship was so good we can not tell that the replacement door was not originally installed with the house. We highly recommend John and his team!

John and staff were very courteous, friendly and provided OUTSTANDING service. He and his workers showed when stated and completed all work on tlme. Without hesitation, I would call on him again to work on my home. His price quote was very reasonable and his crew cleaned up after job completion. Super JOB!

I have a number of properties, and I have dealt with many contractors through the years. I can honestly say I have never experienced a more impeccable, scrupulous, and thorough professional than in my dealings with John Kilpelainen. He went so far above and beyond what I expect from even my best other contractors. I had a particularly difficult residential remodel project with years of deferred maintenance and lots of ugly surprises, but only a modest budget with which to work. Unlike other less ethical contractors, John did a painstaking analysis, spoke to dozens of subcontractors, and found me a brilliant remedy to my problems that stayed within my budget. He honestly told me what was feasible and what was not, and together, we worked out the perfect solution. He has proven himself capable of dealing with very complex remodels. Call him before you get too far into your project. I will not hesitate to use him again and he will be getting my referrals. I only wish I could get him to move to LA where I have my other properties!

We needed some refurbishment at out high end residence Guest House and I researched and interviewed eight different individuals and their companies. We are so glad we hired John K Construction to build our new house. Our expectations were exceeded and we love the house!
