John and his team just completed a major kitchen remodel and leak fix.. .His team did an excellent job , were professional and flexible. When we ran into "challenges" John was more than fair and worked through an equitable solution.. The job was completed in a timely matter .. maybe a couple weeks over but due to circumstances out of our control.. I would definitely use John again on another project and would recommend him . PS .. don't fight it like I did , go with temp kitchen .. you wont' regret it.

We hired John Whitney of JP Whitney Construction to do an extensive remodel of our house, which included room addition, kitchen, bathrooms, front gable and upstairs deck outside our master bedroom. We were very impressed with John’s knowledge and expertise as well as his ability to help solve any issues that arose during the construction process. He is the calm in the storm and this is very reassuring in the middle of a remodeling. His team is also top-notch. Todd Lazetera, his project manager, is a huge asset to the company with excellent organizational skills. He provided us with a detailed timeline of the different phases of the remodel and kept it updated as we moved along. Todd is a great listener who knows how to handle any concern a client may have. All the subcontractors were also excellent and did quality craftsmanship. We highly recommend JP Whitney Construction. You will be in good hands with John and Todd. Your remodeling project will be done on time and on budget. We are happy with the results and enjoy our beautiful new home.

I received 3 bids for a kitchen remodel and JP Whitney was about in the middle. What "sold" me upfront was his "can do" attitude, that he would build anything we needed (but he leaned on us and our designer to tell him WHAT to build as opposed to him pushing on what we should do. Which I very much appreciated). He also had a project manager with a detailed plan whom I worked with closely on deliverables (theirs and ours, such as making sure we purchased things in the right timeframe). Our project included knocking down a wall, expanding the kitchen into the once dining room, 10 foot island, downdraft vent for Wolf stove, TV, new cabinets, etc. I need to give a shout out to Mike Ryan of Timeline Design, who was our cabinet consultant, I would highly recommend him. He is very calm, professional, nice, and extremely precise. He came out a couple of times to measure and re-measure, and when one of the cabinets had the wrong color of wood inside, he swapped it out for free when the correct one came in. John and his project manager Todd were there pretty much 24x7 for me, and would answer my calls immediately. When something went wrong, they were "on it" immediately, and remedied it quickly. We had a challenge with the downdraft and the way the electrical was installed, plus the location of the downdraft control. John had a couple of suggestions and it turned out wonderful. We are so happy with the way the project turned out and really appreciated John's work and his professionalism!

JPW is a person of the highest integrity with a commitment to high quality. He frequently visited our job site to insure our total satisfaction. Very professional staff and subs. Was very accommodating to our change requests. I have recommended him to three friends in the market for remodeling their residences.

John has successfully completed two major home renovation projects for me. I recommend him highly for his knowledge, experience, and transparency. John is a great teacher and thoughtfully explains the pros and cons of every nuance of design, construction, and finish work.

I hired JP Whitney to fix a 20 year plus leaking problem. They accurately diagnosed the issue and professionally fixed it. Throughtout, they were responsive, helpful and friendly. John Whitney was personally involved at all times. I highly recommend them.

We hired JPW to do a Kitchen and Bathroom remodel to our 1940s house and we were very happy with the work done as well as with John and his crew.

I worked with John and Todd to fully renovate three bathrooms as well as some others. Through 2-3 month project period, I very much enjoyed working with John and Todd. They did a great job with nice finish, and delivered the work on time. If you are looking for quality work, JP Whitney is definitely the right contractor to consider.

JP Whitney Construction did a complete remodel of our home in 2009. The project was completed on budget and on time, and went quite smoothly without a single hitch. Whitney Construction works with top-notch subcontractors and stands behind their work 100%. Our project manager was always accessible, kept us on track and answered all our questions. After hearing remodeling horror stories from other home owners using other contractors, we had no problems whatsoever. I was actually sad the day our home was done and we had to say "Good-bye" to John and his crew. Even five years after our project, I called John because a bolt had rusted on a toilet fitting. They came right over and repaired the damage - no problem - no charge. Since our initial renovation, we used JP Whitney for another small project which went equally well. I would recommend John and his crew if you want a fair price, quality craftsmanship, and no headaches!

We wanted our old (ca 1915) single family detached garage torn down and replaced with a larger and more functional garage / workshop. We found JP Whitney doing a similar project in our Shasta-Hanchette neighborhood, liked the quality of work we saw, talked with John Whitney and his project manager, Todd Lazetera, and ultimately signed a contract with JP Whitney to take on our garage rebuild. Remodeling in a historic neighborhood can be a challenge, but we found John to be very knowledgable and easy to get along with. He helped us find an excellent architect, and brought in and managed a highly skilled team of workers and sub-contractors to do the demolition and day to day construction. Todd was always good about communicating any project status changes and up-dating project timelines, so we never felt in the dark about what was going on. The final project outcome met, and in-fact exceeded our original expectations. John even helped us identify ways to reduce cost in some areas without reducing quality, so we came in overall on budget, and in a couple areas under the original cost estimates. So if you're considering a home remodeling project I strongly recommend putting JP Whitney on your short list of contractors to interview. Our own experience was positive, and we're very happy with the new garage JP Whitney did for us.
