Larry served as our contractor/project manager for a major remodeling project involving kitchen/baths/windows/porch insulation/flooring/installation of auxiliary heaters (garage and porch). He proved to be reliable, ethical and professional as well as highly skilled and knowledgable and was an absolute pleasure to work with. Larry brought in and coordinated his team of electricians, plumbers, flooring specialists, drywall workers, etc., all the while supervising and making sure work was progressing according to our wishes. Larry brought our huge, complex project to a close within several months, despite supply chain issues. In addition, Larry recommended and worked with a designer, who elevated our project to a result that is beyond our dreams. Throughout the project, Larry was thoughtful about long term considerations and took extra steps to provide added durability. Customer satisfaction and quality work were Larry's focus. He communicated with us regularly to keep us informed and to get our input about schedule changes, decisions to be made, pricing, problem solving, etc. We appreciate Larry's work and his positive attitude and are grateful every day for the beautiful result he provided.

Knee troubles and other limitations of aging drove my husband and me to discuss replacing our bath tub with a walk-in shower. Our house is 100 years old with only ONE very small bathroom! Although the tub would need to be removed, I was desperate that my beautiful cinderblock window would not be covered over. We were not looking for a total remodel of our bathroom (as nice as that would have been) – just the “bare necessities,” a walk-in shower that preserved my special window. My husband made calls to various advertisers to see what kind of accommodations they could offer, and at what price. We made an appointment with one of them and spent several hours one evening discussing our needs. He had a notebook filled with pictures of various models, but when I told him what I’d like to have, he would correct me “You don’t want that” or “You don’t need that.” And there was NO attention to preserving my window. In discouragement, we made some choices from what he had to offer, and then thought about it overnight. Next morning, we cancelled all the plans of the night before, deciding to look elsewhere. Any time a workman came to our door, we’d ask him for the name of a competent and conscientious contractor. Our first recommendation thus obtained sounded good, but we could not seem to establish contact with this person. Over a period of time, we called all his various numbers, left messages, even tried email. No luck. Then Scott (electrician from Amy’s Home Services) recommended Larry Ericson’s work. Apparently Larry had just finished a similar project and was more than familiar with a situation such as ours. So, I called Larry and left a message. Within hours, he returned my call, and we discussed the situation briefly. That same week, he and his design expert, Karen, drove down here (Elgin) from Crystal Lake to inspect the situation and listen to what we wanted. Whatever we asked for, he responded with “Oh, sure, we can do that.” OK, I can tell you that Larry returned calls and emails and texts quickly. He always took time to answer questions and to listen to concerns. I can tell you many other things about his professionalism - the stuff you’ll read about in the other recommendations on this site. But I want to say something about Larry’s and Derek’s obvious artistry as they tackled the many aspects of this project. Whether it was laying tile, or fitting baseboards, or painting, EVERY detail was accomplished not only with precision but also with superb artistry. It was a pleasure to watch their labor. Besides all that, we really enjoyed their company and were sorry to have to say goodbye. Advertisements abound for this kind of work, but don’t be “hornswaggled.” Trust your project to L. Larry is top a quality highly skilled carpenter! Very honest, punctual and the only surprises are good ones. Larry framed my 4000 sq ft ranch home with multiple 12/12 pitched peaks and main roof line. He was extremely dedicated and experienced. Was able to problem solve without concern. The price he quoted me was the price he completed the work for. I was more than satisfied.

We recently had some work done at our home. We had a variety of things done. L. Ericson Construction handled it ALL!! Larry is on time always, friendly, and communicates well. Larry is amazing. When he starts a project he is devoted to that project until it is finished. He work is of excellent quality. I would recommend Larry to everyone that wants an honest contractor that does quality work. His estimates for a job are mostly complete, except when the "owner" throws in a wrench or two. He is very dependable, showing up for work every day until the job is done.

Fantastic. The new Sunroom exceeded our expectations. The room blended perfectly to the original house -- roof design, windows and door, colors, Communication during the project with Larry Ericson was outstanding. This was the third major project in 5 years that we have relied on Ericson to renovate and add to our House. His work is of the highest quality and completed on a timely basis.

Larry has done numerous projects for our daughter and son in law so when it came time for us to build an 1300sf addition to their house we selected Larry to do the job. After meeting with other contractors it was obvious that Larry listened to our needs and was willing to share ideas and opinions of what would work best for our space and budget. Larry is a talented finish carpenter, he made a custom ceiling beam and fireplace mantle for us. Kitchens are always a huge expense, we saved a ton of money by using non custom cabinetry, Larry was able to modify cabinet to accommodate all of our appliances. Did I mention he is fun to work with??

We have been lucky enough to work with Larry for most of our home projects over the years. He is very easy to work with, great communication, and does high quality work. We recently built a large addition onto our home and couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend Larry and thank you for another job well done.

Top notch carpenter... helped me a great deal in my new house construction. Built to plan with no deviations. Was always there when he said he would be. Great to work with. I will be using Larry again soon and would recommend him to anyone.

How do I love my Contractor Larry Ericson? Let me count the ways: 1.On Time- Yes, on time. This was an extensive renovation to our home that ran about 6 months. We started in the Fall, went through the winter, and into early Spring. Larry worked through the rain, the freezing temps, the good, the bad, and the ugly to finish by our original deadline. 2.On budget. Yes again, on budget. Obviously, we made changes along the way and things come up as the job progressed, but there was not a list of “extras” at the end, and we were never nickeled and dimed. In fact, I know he did a couple of extras and did not tack them on. The big picture exists with Larry! 3.Always pleasant. We had moments of frustration, lots of tedious decision making, some changes from the original plan….all points of potential contention, but Larry was always helpful and pleasant. The guy is a rock! 4.A Problem Solver. Whenever things got tricky or needed to be changed or adjusted, Larry solved the problem. (and kept #1-3 above intact.) 5.Great Team. His “guys” were all polite, respectful, neat, and hard workers. Not a slacker in the bunch! 6.Great Communicator. From Conception at the original meeting to the final touches, Larry always kept us in the loop. No surprises! (not that I mind surprises, but not from my contractor.) 7.Follow Through. We had a couple of things that needed to get finished once the Spring was over. The job was 99.9% done at that point. Larry took the initiative on those minor things and came over to take care of them. Recently, I also had a couple of questions that arose with other work I am having done now, and he answered the phone, took the time to talk with me, and cares about the job long after it’s over. If you want to not only have great work done but have what could be a really stressful experience go well, then L. Ericson Construction is the only option!

Unbelievable service. He has restored my faith in contractors. He is knowledgeable, responsive, always on time and trustworthy. Larry built our custom bar and always kept me involved in the design. He provided options to different ways he could did things (look and feel of the bar). when I needed an opinion he was always there to help. Derrick did the backsplash work which was just amazing work. I would recommend Larry and his company and will be using him for future projects. my photography skills do not due the protect justice.

Larry Ericson fully remodeled my kitchen, master bath and partially remodeled another bathroom. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was very helpful in making decisions when I needed help, which was quite often. Very good at explaining things I didn't understand. Always concerned about keeping the rest of the house clean while the remodeling was going on. Larry, his son Derek and the other trades people did a great job. I'm extremely happy with the work that was done. I felt that he really went out of his way to make sure that everything was just the way I wanted it to be. Larry is very professional, honest, and good at communicating the scope of the project, including any potential issues that could be run into. His work (crown molding, chair rail, and closet door openings cut out) is meticulous. Excellent experience.

We had a great experience when we hired Larry for our kitchen remodel and we would use him again for any future projects. I have since referred him to my friends. His rates are very competitive and among other reasons, we picked Larry because he got back to us when he said he would. That might sound weird but you'll see why that is important as you start calling around. Larry made time for us and he came to our house 2 times before he started the project. I highly recommend him and his team for any job you have. He came exactly when he said he would, cleaned up every step of the way, let us know what he was doing, what his next step would be and gave us suggestions along the way. We asked for his opinion on many things and he gave us straight-forward answers. He is a very honest & friendly guy, is professional and his quality of work is SUPERB. Larry has a good sense of humor and was a good match for us. He said the project would take approx. 4 weeks and I'm pleased to say he finished at 4 weeks. It was a pleasure working with L. Ericson Construction. I had them out for two separate jobs. The first was a repair to the front exterior of my home. The second was to install a second sump pit and pump in the basement. Larry is knowledgeable about multiple aspects of home construction. He listened to my objectives for the project and suggested alternatives that resulted in a better finished project. The floors were protected and plastic was used to contain dust to the work area. Larry provided regular updates on the job progress and the plan for the following days. I was introduced to the subcontracted electrician and plumber before they began working on the house. Each night the construction area was straightened before leaving. I am extremely satisfied with their work and would hire them for a future project.

I had called several contractors to get estimates on my home remodel. None of them had time for me. Larry had time for me. I had no idea on design, Larry gave me great ideas and this website to browse without being pushy. Larry and his team were team always cleaned up after themselves, kept my house functional, were timely and polite. I was actually sad to see Larry and Derrick leave when they were done. I gutted my house. Fired 2 carpenters, 2 plumbers and an electrician. Larry showed up, bid, did the work on time and on budget, cleaned up and left. He's my kind of contractor.

The latest project that L. Ericson Construction did was in my family room. The room is now light and warm thanks to new insulation, dry wall and heaters. The woodwork around the windows and the attention to detail is incredible: it is impossible to tell which was there first, the fireplace mantle or the window frame. Everyone who worked on my project was on time, polite and very helpful. The worksite was always left clean and ready for me to use for the evening or weekend. My projects have not been huge, but I highly recommend working with this professional.

We have only done a few projects at our house and are currently working on one as I type this, but we would never use anyone other than Larry Ericson. Larry (and his son Derek who often works side by side with him) are hardworking, trustworthy, individuals that take on any size project with efficiency and great attention to detail. They both take the time to listen to what your wants and needs are and then provide you with honest and realistic solutions. When they find that hidden disaster behind the wall they provide solutions that enhance the structure of your house without breaking the budget. Larry has great relationships with a number of third party vendors (drywall er, electrician, plumbing) and he also works well with other that maybe you have used in the past. His rates are fare and he completes projects quickly without skimping on the structural integrity. They work long hours and always clean up before they leave for the day. Larry has helped us complete an upstairs bathroom, the relocation of the downstairs bathroom and mudroom, re-engineered and restructured a load bearing ceiling to reintroduce structural integrity, replaced and reinstalled windows on the first floor, and added support to those walls which were not there from the start, and re-elevated a sunken bay window for us. We would highly recommend L Ericson for any construction project.

Larry and his team were wonderful! We hired him to finish our basement and panel above our fireplace upstairs. Larry and his son Derek, were very kind, courteous, and professional. Their craftsmanship was fantastic. They were patient with our many changes and always accommodating. When the inspector came after framing, he said to me as he was leaving, that he couldn't find anything for them to correct. The subcontractors that Larry Ericson brings in are equally fantastic. The job was finished in the time frame promised even with our changes. Any time we need additional work in our house, I know that Larry will be the person we contact. We interviewed several contractors for this job and I am very happy with how everything turned out. We all missed having them around after the job was done. We have worked with Larry on multiple jobs in the past and there is not a better craftsman in our area. This particular one was a 5500 square foot basement finish off!!! The amount of detail was amazing. From the huge wood beams fabricated on site, to the custom inlaid ceiling, to the massive moveable stone wall that hid the kids play room, nothing was short of perfect. I would highly recommend Larry for any project, large or small.
