We hired John for a major remodel of our 65 year old house, and couldn't be happier with the process and results! At the initial meeting with John to discuss what we wanted to do and what was possible, he was friendly, professional knowledgeable. He was able to give me a 'reality check' on the cost of a project on the scale we were considering. After deciding to move forward, we met with his wife Jennifer for some kitchen design ideas and then worked with their in-house architect Jeremy. Jeremey was great to work with and gave use ideas of how to re-work our space in ways we never dreamed of, giving us the open concept kitchen/living room we were looking for and much more! The work started in mid July 2019 with a 6 month estimate to complete. We moved back in to our beautiful 'new' house in mid January 2020. Throughout the process and project, John stayed in touch with us keeping us informed on what was happening and what was next. He worked with us to help keep costs down as well. He has an excellent group of sub-contractors and did an excellent job of scheduling them to keep work on-going. He dealt quickly with the inevitable un-expected problems that come with any remodel and kept the project on track. The quality of the work done by all the sub-contractors was excellent. Particularly the painters and tile installers! We would highly recommend using John and his team for any project!

Project completed ahead of schedule, finishes better than expected, great ideas for design and wonderful colors chosen. Cleanup every afternoon was perfect. We are extremely pleased with the final results.

Purchased an historic craftsman home in Sonoma with many poorly remodeled issues: services included complete rewiring, some plumbing, and kitchen appliance replacement. John and his crew came in and helped us make the home safe and beautiful with very high quality construction. He was prompt, tidy, friendly, and professional. His prices were fair. Mangiantini Construction was recommended to me as a reliable, professional, experienced, and responsive firm. John and his team were indeed all that, and more. My house was a down-to-the-studs rebuild. Mangiantini improved on the architectural plans and guided the process step-by-step. It was orderly and on time, with no surprises. When my house was threatened by the Nor Cal fires I thought, if it burns, I at least have permitted plans and a great contractor!

We just completed a project with Mangiantini Construction and welcome a chance to work them again. I've worked with many builders so this is not something I say lightly or often. John and his team were easy to work with because they are organized, prepared and communication was clear.

Our new home needed a lot of work to become a dream instead of a nightmare. Add to that the fact that we lived over 2000 miles away and had no idea where to start in finding a local contractor. Luckily our real estate agent recommended John Mangiantini and the pieces started to fall into place. He put us in touch with local resources for picking our appliances, bathroom fixtures, tile, granite, and flooring. He curated a superb group of subcontractors who were knowledgeable, skilled, and willing to offer ideas. John coordinated this complicated schedule with ease. We had lots of questions and John was meticulous about making sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. Included is a before and after of our kitchen. What a difference now that wall is gone. Working with John and his team was nothing like the angst-filled remodel on our previous property. Thank you, John, for helping us create our beautiful new home.

Just stating facts here. He took 4 months to deliver a quote. We decided to wait for Mangiantini because we wanted to work with him. We have a VERY small galley kitchen. No load bearing walls to remove or beams to install. Its as basic and straight forward a kitchen remodel as any contractor could ask for. We went for an appliance package that totaled less than $10K, flooring that was less than $10K and counter tops that we selected at a huge discount. We gave them a clearly defined budget of $70K which I knew the job could be completed for. Never once did he say the bid was going to come in way over our budget, nor did he ever make any attempt to work within our budget. They spent $3K over our retainer amount without any notification they had gone over our retainer amount. They charged us $1K per drawing for 4 drawings, but only delivered 1 drawing. And the final quote came in at $150K for our tiny kitchen. They refuse to itemize their quotes - HUGE red flag, you will only receive blackbox 'progress payments' where they hide ENORMOUS markups. I have never seen price gouging on this level. For example the first 'progress payment; included little more than demo of the kitchen and totaled $45K. I could demo our tiny kitchen in a day for the cost of a dump run with one sledge hammer. We asked to reduce the cost of the quote that originally included adding insulation in the living room and swapping out a fireplace insert (with that included the quote was over $175K). When we removed those two items the quote came down to around $150K, meaning he was going to charge us $25K to insulate the living room and swap out a fireplace insert. Its doesnt cost anywhere close to that amount to insulate and sheetrock 1 room. Their lack of transparency is alarming. I would strongly advise you to not work with this contractor. You can get the same quality of work for half the price and full transparency throughout the job that includes itemized quotes delivered in a timely manner and a contractor that tries to work within your budget. He clearly didn't want the job, but instead of showing a high level of professionalism and just telling us he couldn't take on the job, he came back to us with a quote that was clearly trying to take advantage of us and make it worth his while. I have been working with contractors for years and this was by FAR my worst experience. They showed a complete lack of professionalism and made it quite clear they their only focus was their self interest with no interest on serving their client needs. He gained our trust and then tried to take advantage of us. Proceed at your own risk.

We had a great experience with Mangiantini construction for our bathroom remodel. The existing bathroom was dated and needed a complete re-do. This was a complete tear out and remodel job. John Mangiantini managed the project efficiently and always dealt with issues immediately when they arose. He had very good sub-contractors and the quality of the work was excellent. I should also note that this is a vacation home so most of my interaction with Mangiantini Construction was done by phone and email. John went out of his way to make this project easy for me when I could not be at the site regularly. Highly recommended!

We used John and his team for a full house remodel. A huge project. This was a home built in 1950 and never touched. We stripped it all the way down to only studs and foundation left and started from basically from scratch. We replaced literally everything including drilling a new well for water. The project turned out amazing as you can see from the photos! He and his team were incredibly good to work with. They're always responsive, courteous and helpful. Throughout the process we always were able to meet and interact with all the subs on the project. He used only locals which was nice; you could sense a lot of pride for the community and you know that would result in quality work. I couldn't recommend them enough. I wouldn't hesitate to use John for any sized project you have. From a small one to a complete house like this.

Mangiantini Construction has completed renovations on four homes for us over many years. Each house presented its own design challenge requiring an experienced professional like Mangiantini. Every project came in on schedule and budget thanks to the oversight of the Mangiantini team. And we have been delighted with the results. They are a true design/build construction company..

A Remodeling in Retrospect We bought our house in two parts. When it was initially purchased in 2013, it barely made it to the moderately priced home class. The design was neither beautiful nor functional. But the remodel in 2015 put the house in a completely different class. Now it is in the expensive and elegant class of homes. And were we to sell it, we would get back much more than we have invested. The process of planning and designing was conscientious and meticulous, and we were involved in every choice. John is a very talented builder and designer. But what I will always remember most was how much emphasis he placed on getting it right during the planning stage. His staff is superlative and hard-working. And the result is that when I look around, I am so glad I did this! I have no remodeler's remorse. So I end this tribute with a toast to the entire Mangiantini Team!

Mangiantini Construction recently managed several projects at the Cottage Inn & Spa. Over the course of a year, John and his team worked with me to define our improvement projects, find the right vendors and attain the required permits. Our remodel project was not simple, because it included a courtyard with a large skylight feature. This was a new challenge for John and our city building department. The end result is amazing!!! I could not be any happier with the quality of construction and the amazing design that John and his team produced. I highly recommend Mangiantini Construction.
