4 Reviews for Maplestone Construction
I would highly suggest choosing a different company. I am surprised by the good reviews, but notice they are from several years ago. My experience with Maplestone was a total lack of organization and disregard for the schedule as specified on the contract. We did a large 3-story addition, which was scheduled to take 5 months. Work began in May and the occupancy permit was not obtained until February (although the space was mostly useable by mid-December). Weeks went by with no work being done, even in good weather. The owner takes on too many projects at once, fails to order materials in advance and constantly changes sub-contractors mid-job, leading to huge chunks of time being lost due to re-scheduling different sub-contractors and waiting for materials. The owner would make appointments and not show up, but then randomly show up at other times unannounced. On the plus side, the finished addition does look great and the project stayed right on budget, but the nightmare it took to get here could have been avoided by using a different contractor. I looked here for reviews beforehand, and wish someone would have saved me from choosing Maplestone.
Maplestone completed a huge renovation of our house in 2006-2007. We added over 1500 square feet to our 2500 foot home. The renovation included: tearing out walls and ceilings, adding a bathroom, adding one bedroom and renovating two other ones, adding a playroom, completely changing the style of our exterior, wiring for electricity, plumbing, painting, and landscaping. Maplestone did a fantastic job for us. Steve was receptive to changes in the project as we went along and came in under budget. We have continued our relationship with Maplestone whenever repairs need to be made. Steve and his guys are the very best. We had never met him until we hired him, but now we consider him a friend.
I contracted with Maplestone to build a sun room addition onto my house. The many steps - the interview to understand my goals; the itemized cost of the project and the contract; the evaluation and recommendation regarding the heating and air conditioning; the landscaping issues; and the actual construction of the room - were all done very professionally. The builders were knowledgeable, skilled, dependable and attentive to every detail. The other contractors (electrical, flooring, drywall, masonry, roofing, HVAC, etc.) seemed to have been well chosen. Each person was responsive to my inquiries and concerns. In spite of extremely wet weather and the holiday season, the project was completed in a reasonable time. The estimate was competitive and the final cost justifiable.
We remodeled our kitchen and added a master bedroom and bathroom to our 1920's home. It was a big job and Steve did a fabulous job keeping everything running smoothly. He is a very reliable person concerned about quality craftmanship and his client's satisfaction.
