McKenney Builders was an excellent partner in my renovation project. I could not ask for better quality of work and timeliness with great communication. I highly recommend James as a project manager and his team - would hire again.

James was easy to deal with and adjusted his schedule to meet and exceed our needs. The project was completed ahead of schedule and any extras were clearly communicated. We will definitely work with him again.

Our wreck of a basement was renovated at a level, and in a way, that I could never have imagined or believed if I had not lived it. It is hard to describe how the horror that was our 1200 sq. ft. unfinished basement was transformed by Mckenney Builders and made into a gloriously, high class, comfortable haven in approximately 6 weeks. The professional touches, careful coordination between the workers, the expert selection of the products, and the masterful attention to detail applied to this job made me feel as though I were a patron bearing witness to a well-orchestrated symphony. I will be forever amazed and grateful.

I was a little skeptical doing business with this company, but thankfully the entire project went very well. This was my first investment property so needless to say I was very critical with who I chose to do business with. I invested a significant amount of my own personal savings into transforming this rundown property into a livable, modern home. From start to finish, the project manager was very professional, communicative, and accommodating. They went above and beyond to not only deliver the renovation of our dreams, but along the way they did all the little extras, keeping the house spotless at the end of each day, and going the extra mile to make sure every aspect of the project was done to our satisfaction. Once this property sells we plan on using this company for the next one.

I recently had my bathroom remodeled by McKenney Builders, and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the results. The team was professional, stuck to the timeline they provided, and communicated well throughout the process. During the planning phase, they worked with me to understand what I wanted, offering practical suggestions that improved the overall design. The construction phase was efficient, and the team's attention to cleanliness made the whole experience hassle-free. The craftsmanship is excellent, and the finished bathroom looks fantastic. McKenney Builders delivered on their promises, and I'd recommend them for anyone looking for a reliable and skilled remodeling team.

It is unfortunate that we need to write this review. James is friendly and easy to communicate with, but his quality of work is severely lacking and repairing it has cost us tens of thousands of dollars and many months of time. The most egregious example is our basement floor slab. We demolished the basement floor in order to lay new waste lines. When James’ crew placed the new lines, they did not put traps on them to prevent sewer gas backflow, and they did not set the basement toilet stub at the correct height. Further, they poured the floor slab 5 inches too high, and did not smooth or level it as it cured. We were willing to let them make repairs, but when they showed up to level a 600 square foot slab with a 4-inch hand grinder, it was clear that they were not capable of the work. We have spent over $10,000 grinding the floor to as level as it can be, cutting into the new slab to install traps on the drains, and we will have to live with the lost head height. When asked for a refund for the work, James blamed the subcontractor, and refused to take responsibility for the job. This is only the most severe and expensive of McKenney Builders’ errors. We are still in the process of replacing their plumbing with correct fittings and proper venting throughout the house, installing the correct electrical service we asked and paid for, replacing twisted lumber they used to frame our ceiling, and aligning walls framed out of level. Also, the HVAC sub they brought on is not licensed or insured, and we still are trying to find someone to finish a half-done mechanical rough in. Due to the corners cut by McKenney Builders we are well over time and budget on our house, and the carelessness in every part of their work continues to hold us back. We cannot adequately express our frustration here. We would advise anyone considering McKenney Builders to find someone who knows what they are doing and takes their work seriously.

McKenney Builders did a great job on my bathroom and kitchen project with (major) repairs and renovation. They also rebuilt my back doorframe and put new siding on the back of my row house. James and his foreman came out a couple times beforehand to get the full scope of the project and discussed options. They were both easy to work with and available for questions and concerns during and after the project. James made sure everything was completed to my satisfaction at the end. I’m very happy with the job and planning to hire them again for another project this summer or fall. Thank you!

The workers were professional when setting up, showing us their progress and clean up. The end job looked finished and the price was comparable. I would ask them for an estimate in the future.

I highly recommend McKenney Builders. James and his team renovated our kitchen and bathroom this fall. Such incredibly hard workers. They did a beautiful job with both rooms, especially the floors in the bathroom and kitchen and the custom island. I couldn't believe how quickly they were able to get the job done and how neatly everything was left. James didn't consider it finished though until he walked through with me and made sure every single detail was perfect. Would definitely work with McKenney Builders again.

James with McKenney Builders did excellent work on a not-big but multipart job for me -- window replacement, drywall and finishing for a kitchen ceiling. I got the estimate quickly, and the work was scheduled and completed promptly at a reasonable price. Alex and his crew were polite, neat, and left my house clean. It was refreshing dealing with James at McKenney Builders, especially when other contractors ignore you for a smaller job.
