MK Remodeling & Design

We have worked with James and Mike for 4 years to completely remodel our 45 year old home. This has been a complete interior and exterior remodel. We hired MK initially because James was the only contractor who generated his initial bid in the format we requested even though he knew it would be well over our estimated budget. Their work is high quality and they stand behind each project they do. Most importantly, we trust James and Mike completely. James has become a friend to us and we know we can trust him to handle every aspect of a project. This trust has been especially important to us because the work has all been completed while we were out of state. Mike posts photos showing the progress of the project. During the remodel of two bathrooms Christy was a dream to work with. She made sure everything is beautiful as well as functional. This is a great team and great company.

MK Remodeling and Design worked with us to remodel our master bathroom, create a library (complete with a murphy door), and remove a built in entertainment center from our living room to open that space up. From start to finish, they were incredible to work with. Christy, James, and Mike were all responsive to communications. Once work began, they really focused on our project, and they were always here on time. The entire team, and all the contractors they hired, were on point. Our neighbors asked us how we had people showing up every morning like that to work on our house. We just told them to "hire Mike!" My husband and I are beyond happy with the results. Each room is beautiful. Christy was amazing to work with as a designer. She took my general ideas and really transformed them into gorgeous spaces in our home. These folks are absolutely worth the time and money to use. No complications. Exactly what we wanted. We will definitely call them again if we want to redo anything else.

I cannot say enough good things about the MK team. They took my kitchen/laundry from 1984 to 2020 within 6 weeks. We did a full gut, knocking down walls and ceilings, removing doors, etc. I was so impressed that Mike Gillis, the owner, made an appearance every morning the crew was here, it really made me feel that my business was important to him. All the snags we ran across (FYI there is no remodel without snags regardless of who you work with) were handled in an extremely timely manner within less than 24 hours in most cases. A HUGE thank you to designer Nikki for dealing with my mania, I can't tell you how many times she talked me off the ledge with my selections. Super professional, family owned, expeditious, quality workman ship, reliable. Can't wait to do my bathroom remodel with them.

For the past 10 years my wife and I have renovated multiple houses. It can be frustrating and seem like you have a second full-time job. If you’d like to keep the hair on your head, not work a second job, and stay married throughout your renovation you will give Mike and James a call. We finished one renovation with them and immediately started planning the next one within a few months. It was a pleasure to work with a family-owned business and at the end of two years it will actually be a little sad to not see them around (at least for a little while :). They are so responsive and polite and will address all of your concerns. I am a perfectionist and could do a lot of things on my own but I was faced with the ultimatum to relinquish control to a GC or live in my renovated house alone, indefinitely. I handed over the controls to a great company and a good family. Twice in 2 years.

We had an extensive remodel done on our 1982 home. Mike, his family, and his crew were great, every step of the way. We had wanted to do some of the work ourselves to keep our costs down, and they let us work right alongside them and we paid only for what they did. Our result was splendid! We find our new layout to be not only functional but beautiful with our sleek, modern finishes. Even the business end of things was a good experience. I loved that the billing was all online, we could pay with our credit card, and the bills were all carefully itemized. Nothing was billed that hadn't been on the estimate.

I had my kitchen remodeled, along with leveling my living room floor to match rest of the house, new tile throughout the house and a wall removed. From beginning to end, the process was easier than I experienced with previous contractors. Everyone was on time, polite, and the house was clean at the end of the day. Mike was responsive to answering my questions which I appreciated. Everything was on time, except for one day delay which did not put the overall process behind schedule. I love the end project and would not have been able to design the floor plan, pick out the tile, countertops or cabinets without the help of Kristin. It was well worth the cost! I highly recommend Mike and staff to complete any remodel.

They have given us a huge upgrade on our bathroom, which is definitely highly appreciated. The work they did is more than impressive and the entire team made sure that the process as well as the billing go on smoothly and professionally. I will be using them again in years to come.

Had MK remodel our entire house, upstairs and downstairs, one massive project as you might imagine. We are extremely pleased with the finish product, totally transformed our house. Very honest people to work with, they go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with the final project. Pricing was very reasonable, no change orders, no surprises all around good people to work with and very trustworthy. Highly recommend this family, will also plan on having them do more work in the future.

It was a pretty good experience overall. I have no complaints about it. They had guys coming out around our schedule, so they were very accommodating.

It was a pretty extensive remodeling of the master bedroom area. I thought the guys he had come in for doing all of the different jobs, like the electricians, guys that did cabinet work, re-staining work, and the guys that did flooring all did quality work on the job they did. They especially did quality work for all of the changing of the colors of some of the wood pieces. They showed up when they said they would show up. The clean up afterwards was done very well. There wasn't a mess all over the place at the end of the day when they finished their job. They got back to me pretty quickly if I had any questions or concerns about the work. They always gave me feedback on ideas that I would have, and would let me know if there would be any price difference for any extra work. He came up with an idea how to change the shower so I wouldn't have to add extra expense relocating a hot water heater. He gave me good feedback to help control unnecessary work and to save money. I really appreciated that.

Five years ago we had MK remodeling come out and do our shower which was leaking. We ended up having them redo the floors the lighting and the walls (from wallpaper to texture and paint). So when we decided to update all 2 1/2 of our bathrooms this spring, we used them again after getting an estimate from at least one other company. I'm impressed with Mike Gillis, Kristina Gillis, and James Gillis. Their estimate process and billing is very professional. Over a couple of days, the various crews who were very professional, did great work on each job, and cleaned up after themselves beautifully. They went above and beyond what was required more than once, bless their hearts! I goofed up a couple of things and they worked with me on getting it right. Because the beginning of the job coincided with my husband's total knee replacement, there were at least three days where we weren't home but the work went on with no problems! This is a company you can trust and use over the years for many things.
