Dan and his team did a remodel and addition to our home that was completed in 2017, taking most of the home down to the studs and giving us a wonderful new space for our family. In the lead-up to the project, we worked with an architect that was recommended by friends. These same friends used Nordin Builders, but we had several other recommendations for contractors, so we collected bids from them as well. From the very first meetings (and frankly, from the first communications), Dan stood out from the others. He was so responsive and professional, and was the only contractor I spoke to that gave me the sense that we'd always feel involved and heard. His was not the lowest bid, but it was absolutely reasonable. Also, it was on time! Throughout the project, Dan communicated with us regularly, and organized the process so that we never felt overwhelmed with all the choices that must be made during a project of this scope. He responded quickly, was transparent about pricing changes and the surprises that come with construction, and was patient. Finally, Dan's team was great. They kept the site clean, were very friendly, and helped out with all sorts of little details as we finished up. I should have written this review in 2017. The thing is, I just reached out to Dan with a question related to a small woodworking project we are starting, and once again, he got back to me quickly and was super helpful. Four years later. That's the sort of professional relationship everyone deserves.

Nordin Builders is an excellent construction company. Dan Nordin is an exceptional GC and his entire crew is top-notch. From planning the project to sticking to timelines to managing budget to quality of work, we had a first-class experience for our entire project (new home). Dan also has connections throughout the industry, and his guidance was invaluable to us as we navigated design decisions, material selection, and supplier costs. Lastly, every home renovation project runs into hiccups - Dan is very even-keeled and solution-focused, and we were able to smoothly navigate every un-planned / un-scoped issue with him.

We used Nordin Builders for a fairly substantial remodel last year. We would not only recommend them, we would use them again ourselves. Dan, his sons, his project manager Tim, and his staff are all nice, and do an amazing job. Dan’s team of key people is small, but great to work with. That said, our project was not within the time estimate, although that was not all Dan’s fault. The city approval took 4 months longer that expected, so some of his subcontractors had to move to other jobs before ours. Contractors who don’t own all their own subs are unable to manage schedules because they simply can’t get people to show up. There are so many contractors and so many jobs in our area that there just aren’t enough subs to go around. Our project stayed very close to budget. Dan’s bid for us was about 20% higher than the lowest bid we got, and about 40% lower than the highest. We had a fixed price contract, and ended up going about 10% over budget due to a few change orders. We spent a LOT of time with our architect to get the plans right beforehand, so there weren’t many change orders. The only remotely problematic issue was communication. My husband likes over-communication when it comes to a project schedule, and we had trouble getting an estimated schedule from the contractor. The project manager, however, was extremely responsive, and went above and beyond a couple of times to give us great service, so we were very pleased with the overall experience.

Dan is awesome!! He and his team are thorough, responsive and (most importantly) patient. It was our first time remodeling so Dan explained everything in a clear and accurate manner (sometimes multiple times!). He also accommodated changes we had along the way and was candid about trade-offs and shared ideas. The work was great— we were thrilled with the kitchen remodel, new bath and guest house. He was always reachable even well after the project was done.

When we moved to the Bay Area, we were given a handful of names of contractors. From the moment we reached out, Dan Nordin and his team went above and beyond — most importantly they are responsive and straightforward. Dan previewed a few homes we were considering purchasing and then introduced us to an architect to help stage the projects. Dan told us when it was appropriate to use a cheaper/different products and when it wasn’t. Our project was a new facade on the house (actually peeled off and rebuilt the front of the house), new custom built front door, windows, HVAC, new master en-suite. We lived in the home during construction with 2 pets. We were only interested in working with a team that followed the local codes, and give us a beautiful product. Dan and his team accomplished that. As with any aging home (1950s), we ran into surprises ... Dan communicated and worked with us to resolve them. Dan treats his employees well and they seem to respect him equally. Dan anticipated issues we would encounter and was respectful of our neighbors. Our project has been complete since July 2018, but Dan is still the first person I call for a project or recommendation.

Nordin Builders performed tremendously on my residential project in San Carlos. I added approximately 900 sf including a new ADU unit and a new second story. I addition, we remodeled the entire house inside and out. The work was completed in a very timely and professional manner and I would highly recommend them on any project.

Nordin Builders began to work closely with us before actual construction of our remodel. From that time forward we were assigned an individual project manager who visited our site regularly each week in addition to our standard weekly review meetings. Nordin's work crews were careful and competent. We were also supported by their "standard" sub-contractors for plumbing, electrical, and a couple of other areas, who proved to also be careful and competent. We lived in half of our house that was not under renovation, which meant we were living quite closely with all the workmen coming through daily, often early. But they were respectful and as quiet as possible while we were present. When corrections were needed--unavoidable in all construction--Nordin was quick in their responses. I'd definitely recommend Nordin Builders for home renovation.

Nordin Builders have done two remodels to our home in Los Altos. The first was a major re-design and re-build of the kitchen and family room, and the second was a replacement of all the remaining windows (originally from 1960) as well as a new front door and sidelight treatment and installation of hardwood flooring that matched the flooring from installed during the first remodel. The Nordin folks have quality workmanship, they plan, schedule and cost in a fair and accurate way, they're very communicative regarding both good news and (sometimes) bad news and maybe best of all, they clean the work site meticulously at the end of every work day. Dan Nordin is honest, responsible, experienced, and has great integrity--he's an excellent person to do business with

Nordin's crew is so thorough, it's rare we are involved for service needs after the sale.

Nordin Builders did an extensive remodel for us. The existing structure came down, but we kept the foundation and expanded the footprint (2000 sq ft became 3000 sq ft). One of Dan Nordin's greatest attributes is professionalism, providing clear and reliable communication throughout the project. The workmanship was excellent and our timeline was adhered to, finishing the WHOLE house remodel in 11 months.
