Penn Carpentry

We worked will Penn Carpentry for our workshop project. Tate, Carol, and all of their subs were great throughout the project. They were great communicators and were always willing to accomodate changes, sometimes even on the same day. There were many unusual aspects of our build, which required excavation underneath two occupied floors above, that Tate handled effortlessly. Penn is clearly a very experienced group, and we are extremely happy with how things turned out. We would not hesitate to recommend them, and would certainly work with them again in the future.

My wife and I can't express enough how pleased we are with the work that Penn Carpentry did to rescue our porch build. Unfortunately, we originally chose a contractor who would not follow the plans we had spent considerable time creating with our architect. This contractor decided he knew better than the homeowner and architect wanted so we fired him. Thankfully Tate and the Penn Carpentry team of subs picked up the project and completed it and vastly surpassed our expectations. Going from the most stressful time in our lives with the previous awful contractor to working the professionals of Penn Carpentry was like going from a midnight thunderstorm to daylight. I appreciate the comment Tate made when we were deciding to go with Penn Carpentry, "I didn't know not following the plans was an option." He and team not only followed the plans but made excellent suggestions as we worked through every issue. I highly recommend Penn Carpentry. They stuck to the budget, did what they said they would do, and created a beautiful backyard space for us. Carol Penn was wonderful to work with throughout the project and was always there to assist. We know who we will work with on our next project!

We recently completed a significant addition to our home which included two additional rooms and an entirely new roof structure. We are very pleased with the outcome and enthusiastically recommend Penn Carpentry as a result of our experience. Greg Penn communicated regularly with us regarding the status of the project and Carol Penn kept us up to date on our progress against our budget. Despite an extensive amount of work on our older home and many moving parts, Greg was right on budget for the project. Lastly, we were very impressed with the quality of the work performed by Greg’s sub-contractors. In the few instances in which we noticed something wasn’t exactly as expected, Greg was quick to notice and correct it. Even when we were willing to live with the imperfection, Greg insisted it be made right. We appreciate the professionalism of Penn Carpentry and wouldn’t hesitate to engage them in future home renovation/remodeling projects. The perform excellent work!

Penn Carpentry just completed a major home renovation for us and we couldn’t be happier with the process and the result. Tate Smith, the project manager gave us a week by week schedule of what was planned to be accomplished. He let us know if things got behind, why they got behind and how he planned to catch things up. We really appreciated the great communication. I frequently checked on the progress at the house and always asked the subs how they liked working with Penn. Without exception they said that Penn was their best contractor to work with because Penn treated them well, respected them and paid on time. That says a lot for Penn. Furthermore we were updated monthly with a spreadsheet detailing expenses so we always knew where we were under budget and over budget. Penn Carpentry did fantastic work for us, transforming our basement from a dungeon to family-friendly space. They came in on-budget and on-schedule despite many 'out-of-the-box' specialty projects, including a custom wine cellar and custom bars built from wood rafters that were reclaimed from our house. In fact, one of the reasons that we hired Penn Carpentry was because they have a network of excellent craftsmen and subs who were able and willing to take on special projects. We worked with Tate, who was extremely organized, reliable, professional and easy to work with. In addition, Penn Carpentry provided a detailed budget before the project started and provided clear and timely updates on expenditures as the project progressed. Among the many contractors that we have worked with on home building and home renovation projects, Penn Carpentry was one of the easiest to work with - no drama plus excellent work and work ethic.

We just finished a major home renovation using Penn Carpentry and can honestly say that choosing Penn was the best decision we could have made. Greg was honest, detailed, and easy to work with. I hire Penn Carpentry in 2015. He put vinyl siding and a new heating and air system. I was very please, in the work. Also personal interest he took about the questions I asked. He took my opinion seriously. Never fail took make sure I was okay with the work. The crew that did the work were very friendly, making sure I was comfortable with their work. Here 2018 I am still pleased with the work Penn Carpentry did for me.

We used Penn Carpentry to finish our unfinished basement and they did a wonderful job. The project was on time and on budget with high marks for craftsmanship. Tate was great to work with and very responsive. I have been recommending them to close friends. They are good folks.

I just finished a full home renovation and cannot say enough great things about Penn Carpentry. Before this process began, I was terrified of the renovation and all the possibilities of things that could go wrong. Looking back on it now, I can't remember one thing that went wrong. What I do remember are Greg and Carol Penn. Of course, there were challenges along the way, but Greg and Carol stayed right by my side for every step making it as easy as possible for me. Greg ensured that I was well informed on the construction process and helped walk me through anything that I didn't understand (which he had to do a lot!). Carol was phenomenal. She made sure all documents were in order for the bank at all times and provided impeccable communication so that construction could continue on task and on time. Penn Carpentry did a fabulous job. They were honest, reliable, determined and committed. Greg Penn built my house as though it were his own and shepherded me through the "scary" aspects of renovation like I was part of his family. The most notable value for me was the tremendous partnership that evolved. I have a contractor now for years to come but also an enduring friendship.
