I cannot say enough great things about Phoenix Renovations. Even before we had a signed contract, John French put in a ton of work. He provided an extremely detailed project estimate (40+ pages), scheduled meetings with tradespeople, etc before even having a signed contract. His actions, both before the contract was signed as well as after it was signed, demonstrated that he truly valued my business and I very much appreciate that. I had the pleasure of working with Scott and Stephanie on John's team. They are incredible to work with. Scott is a wealth of knowledge about everything and gave invaluable advice when issues arose. Stephanie is the easiest person you could ever hope to work with. The project was a large whole home renovation in the Historic Brookhaven neighborhood (4,300 sq feet) - not a surface inside or outside the house was left untouched. I know that it was no easy task coordinating between all the various tradespeople and Stephanie somehow made it all look so effortless. It has been a few months since the project was completed and I can honestly say that I miss seeing them on a daily basis. I'm thinking that not many folks who have gone through a home renovation can say that about their contractor and team. I can highly recommend Phoenix Renovations and without a doubt they will be the first one's I call for my next project.

We did a whole house renovation this past year with Phoenix. At the end of the work, not only did we get more for our money than any other builder out there but the quality was higher than a lot of the houses we toured when searching for a builder. We were both shocked at how easy the process was and how little conflict came up. The house was a 1930's bungalow so there were a lot of surprises as walls came down, but nothing that Phoenix wasn't prepared for or hadn't anticipated.

Our first experience with Phoenix was through a referral from a mortgage broker when we purchased our home. We knew we wanted to update the kitchen and baths before we moved into our 1950s ranch, and were immediately impressed after our first meeting with Lee Fiata. He provided a very reasonable quote for the job, which included beautiful custom cabinets by Keystone Millworks. Phoenix completed the job on schedule and their attention to detail was outstanding.
Several months later we started down the path of adding a second story that included a master bedroom suite, a guest bedroom and bath, a laundry room and screened-in porch. Lee referred us to Bonnie Henry Designs for our architecture needs, and after meeting with several other architects we decided to use Bonnie and couldn't have been happier. She listened to our needs and feedback, and incorporated our ideas into the final design. Once we had plans we started interviewing contractors and receiving quotes, and once again settled with Phoenix for our renovations. Their quote was extremely competitive and Lee was very accommodating with our need to remain in the home during the remodel. Some of the contractors seem surprised or suggested that we might need to move out for portions of the build, but it never fazed Lee and he and his team were very creative on how to make sure it was least disruptive to our existing home and our family life. Also, Phoenix has partnerships with local businesses around town that will assist you in selecting anything you might need for the renovation, from appliances to plumbing fixtures to countertops, but they are also open to you sourcing your own products. We found that this allowed us to shop around and purchase exactly what we wanted, especially for lighting, but then it was also very easy to work with the partner businesses to select major items like countertops, tubs and appliances. For those items all we had to do was tell Lee what we had chosen and he handled the rest.
The project was set to start in early May 2013 with completion set for September 2013. Despite the very rough weather we had this year and a significant amount of rain, the project was completed on time and within budget. Lee was at the house almost every day that work was being done, and if we ever had an issue or concern he would always address it and make you feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. One of many examples of this customer service happened early on in the build process: While they were framing the second floor and before we had a new roof, a period of about two weeks, each night the house would be covered with giant tarps to project the house from rainfall. One particular weekend we had a good amount of rain and Lee was at the house several times a day to check on the tarp performance, which included a trip to the house at 4am!
Phoenix does sub-contract out certain work (like roofing, masonry, electrical, plumbing, etc.) however they handle a majority of the work internally and we were very impressed with the entire crew. The initial framing crew led by Bill and his team were very good as were the additional craftsmen team of Ismael Jr. and Sr. We also had the painting crew led by Hector at the house quite a bit between the interior/exterior painting and touch-ups, and they were also meticulous and very friendly. All crews were cognizant of cleaning up each night and there really was never a time when unnecessary tools or debris were left around the property. Even neighbors complimented that it was the cleanest work site they had ever seen. We lived in the house the entire time (with two young boys under 5!) and never felt like it was too challenging to have to live through the project.
In addition to the customer service, meeting of the timeline and budget, and having a friendly crew, the overall work quality was outstanding. We have had many compliments from friends, family and others who have commented that the craftsmanship is excellent and very professional. We have also had several neighbors walk by and comment how the second floor of the house looks like it has always been there and fits with the rest of the neighborhood, a credit to both Phoenix and Bonnie Henry Designs.
Overall we were very pleased with the work product and service we received from Phoenix Renovations and would recommend them to anyone in the Atlanta/Buckhead/Brookhaven area looking to build or add onto their home.

My wife and I hired Phoenix Renovations back in September of 2012 to complete a full and extensive renovation of a 1940s Tudor home in Morningside. The renovation included expanding the first floor, adding a new second floor, replacing all of the existing systems, plumbing and electric, etc. To say that Phoenix did a great job would be an understatement. John and Lee were complete professionals throughout the project and they made a conscious effort to insure that all of the work was flawless (we are perfectionists, so probably not the easiest people to work with), completed in a timely fashion (we finished 2 weeks AHEAD of schedule) and right on budget . After hearing numerous horror stories about Contractors, we were floored at just how smoothly and painless the renovation went which is a complete testament to John and Lee at Phoenix. If you a considering a Contractor, do yourself a favor and hire Phoenix as my wife and I can't imagine using anyone else.
PS - If you are interested in talking more about Phoenix or the work they did for us, please let us know as I'm happy to discuss, share pictures, etc.

We have used Phoenix Renovations on 3 occasions - first for a side porch renovation, then for a basement renovation and finally for a second floor addition and remodel of the first floor of the house. In each instance, they helped us make house/neighborhood appropriate decisions on style and investment level. The last renovation was the most extensive and was actually completed a couple of weeks ahead of the scheduled 6 months. They were able to help us navigate the multitude of decisions to be made with a full scale remodel, narrowing choices based both on budget and knowledge of our style. I would have no hesitation recommending them.

Phoenix Renovation completed the second story renovation and expansion of our bungalow in August 2013. John French and his team were amazing to work with. From our initial meetings through the final punch list, they demonstrated an incredible attention to detail, mastery of complex renovations, appreciation for the design aesthetics, a passion for perfection and a truly collaborative approach with us, our architect and interior design team. They are quality craftsmen who know how to overcome unexpected obstacles and deliver a quality home that exceeded our expectations in every way. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable throughout our project as we were living on the first floor during construction! And, they finished ahead of schedule and on budget. I highly recommend Phoenix.

After interviewing 5 or 6 contractors, we chose Phoenix Renovations for a whole-house renovation/re-build project. We worked primarily with John French. The experience could not have been better! John worked tirelessly to keep the project on-budget and on schedule - work was actually completed about a week before the original estimate. Additionally, the Phoenix team assisted with design suggestions, layout/flow and materials.
Phoenix seems to have great relationships with sub-contractors and other building professionals and it shows in the quality of work that everyone provides. The building site was always clean (much appreciated by neighbors!), work was completed on time, any cost changes were communicated well in advance and the overall quality exceeded my expectations. We especially appreciated that a contractor was on-site at some point every day to make sure work was progressing correctly and on-schedule thus preventing re-work and delays.

Lee and Phoenix did an excellent job with our second story renovation. They finished 1month early and on budget! It was a pleasant experience. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. Lee and John are both very professional. They have a great crew that they have worked with for years. I think that really sets them apart. Everyone that worked on our home was thoughtful, polite, and eager to get the job done - hence the 1 month early completion date! I highly recommend them. I am also a mortgage / construction lender and have worked with buidlers for years - so I have seen the good, bad, and the ugly. So both personally and professionally I would recommend them for big and small jobs.
