We hired RKA to redo one of the bathrooms in our home. We were so please with their work, we immediately hired them to create a new master bath. Andy and Greg were responsive to our wants and needs. We loved our GM Greg Lohrs. They were easy to work with, kept us informed, were respectful of our space and left us with a beautiful bathroom. We have recommended them to several of our friends who were also pleased with their work.

In 2013, our family decided to commit to a major upgrade to our home. The project ultimately included a renovation to our existing 3500 sq. ft. home and a new construction addition to the house which was 3000 sq. ft. in size. Every room in our existing home was touched by the renovation; and we lived in the house during the entire renovation-addition process. The work done by Ranieri and Kerns (RKA), which ultimately lead to the completion of our dream home, far exceeded our expectations. We had done 5 previous home renovations, albeit of more limited scope. In all cases, we had felt invaded by our contractors and had issues during and after the work was completed. Accordingly, we set our requirements for finding a contractor to build our dream home very high. Working with an architect, we interviewed a number of general contractors before ultimately selecting Ranieri and Kerns. We had identified a number of criteria that needed to be met in the selection process. Without reservation, I can say that Ranieri and Kerns has exceeded our expectations with respect to each of these criteria. Among the items that were important to us were: (1) quality of construction and the quality of the finish work; (2) being price competitive; (3) being respectful of our family and our possessions during the construction process; (4) listening to my wife and me with regard what we wanted during construction; (5) follow-on support in the period post-construction. Don’t underestimate number 4. Too frequently, builders will “tell you what is best for you” rather than “listening to you and responding to your requests”. The first two of these criteria are very obvious and in this regard the quality of the final product (our home) far exceeded our expectations. With respect to those things that are “behind the walls”, quality was confirmed by the response to multiple Township inspections that were carried out. The quality of work extended to each of the sub-contractors that RKA had assigned to the project. We were assigned a project foreman, a fulltime RKA employee, who himself was an accomplished builder and carpenter. He guided the project through all phases of work, and was on site every day, all day. His support and skills were invaluable. The finish work was of the highest quality far exceeding our expectations and received positive feedback by guests visiting our home. The cost of the project was competitive with other local builders that we had contacted prior to engaging Ranieri and Kerns. Throughout the course of the projects, the “team” (i.e., my wife and me; the builders; various subcontractors; and our architect) proposed a large number of “change to the original plan” --- changes based on our personal needs and desires. Ranieri and Kerns was very responsive to these requests—sitting down with us to make sure they understood what we wanted,sometimes suggesting alternatives to achieve our objectives, and ultimately providing us within days with a revised work plan and a quantitative statement as to the budgetary and timeline implications of the changes we sought. We had all the information we required to make an informed decision. Unlike the construction of a new house, renovations and additions occur most often in situations where the owners will be on-site during construction. Accordingly, an important consideration is the respect and care shown the owner, their children, their pets, their possessions…. This was an in important consideration for us as we interviewed potential contractors prior to selecting RKA. Based on the scope of our project, we recognized that our builders were going to be living with us for 9 months or more. We were struck by the recommendations we received from previous clients regarding RKA. Our experience was consistent with those of clients with whom we had talked. RKA took care of us--- whether it was to provide us with a propane heater in the middle of winter when the temperature in the house became uncomfortable; or to make sure that our four cats were well-looked after during the day when 5-6 different contractors may have been in the house. Our home is largely furnished with antiques, and the RKA team made certain that dust was kept to a minimum and all furniture was covered and well-protected during the construction. There were no losses or damage, in stark comparison to our experience with other contractors. Finally, I want to comment on support after the project is completed and the final payment is made. My past experience had been that after the project is completed, so is the relationship with the contractor. This has not been the case with RKA. Our construction has been completed for 3 years now. However, any issues that arise have been and continue to be addressed quickly and at no cost to us. This has included cracks in walls and caulking due to settling of new foundation; plumbing and electrical issues, some of which only arose 2 years post completion of construction. RKA stands behind its work in ways that are admirable, comforting to the homeowner, and almost unique in my experience. I unequivocally recommend RKA as a general contractor for home renovations and new construction home additions.

We purchased our home in 2013 and have relied on RANIERI & KERNS ASSOCIATES (RKA) to handle any and all home improvements since that time. Trust, efficiency, cost, and craftsmanship, are key qualities we looked for when shopping for a contractor for our initial project on the house. RKA possessed all of these traits and more, and for the first job we hired them to redo our first floor bathroom and refinish our basement that were both showing signs of non-toxic mold due to water damage. Their thorough and expert cleaning and stripping away materials, refinishing and refreshing the rooms, allowed our kids and us to feel good about being in these rooms again. We have used their services multiple times over the past three years, and they are our go-to contractors for any and all improvements. No job is too big or too small, and they always have the right solution. RANIERI & KERNS ASSOCIATES are consummate professionals, work in a timely manner, complete the job beautifully, and stand by their work. We always recommend RKA to family and friends and will continue to do so.

We hired Ranieri and Kerns to make our dirty stone basement into a space to enjoy and to create storage for our small 1920s era house. They worked with us along the way to create affordable and unique solutions. From using every square inch we could for storage to creating removable stairs so we could fit a washer and dryer into our basement. I highly recommend them.

I've worked with RKA (Andy Kerns and Greg Ranieri) since 2008. After interviewing many of the Main Line contractors at the time, RKA became my go-to renovators and carpentry source for our older Main Line home (which is now basically pristine). They performed a large scale renovation in 2008 and numerous smaller upgrades and repairs each year since then.

We have hired RKA twice for large-scale remodels of 2 different homes. We have found the design and construction team, as well as their regular sub contractors, to be consistently: cognizant of our budget & working with us to accomplish our goals within that constraint; respectful of our time - meeting regularly with us at our convenience, and keeping us informed of progress; accepting of our ideas for reaching a final project that will best meet our lifestyle. We have had an all-around great experience working with RKA and would not hesitate to do so again.

I had the great pleasure of working with RKA. They built a world class roof deck on top of my apartment. It was a very difficult job because the building is historic. There were many hurdles to jump and RKA met each one with professionalism and care. Their team has my utmost respect. My roof deck is the envy of the neighborhood. They did it on time and on budget. Do yourself a favor: hire them.

I can't say enough good things about my experience with RKA...professional, friendly, on-time, and on-budget. Andy and Greg had a lot of great ideas and their team was able to execute them flawlessly. The best endorsement that I can give is that I'm about to hire them again for another big project.

I could not be happier with the work done by RKA. I put a master bedroom addition with full bath over an existing garage. Shawn Swanson, was the general manger for the project. Shawn worked with me from start to finish on the architect plans, design elements and through the construction process. Shawn is also on time and responsive to any questions or issues I might have had. Chuck Wright was assigned as foreman to the project. Again Chuck showed complete respect for my home. He organized everything during the process And mangled all the subs. Chuck was very responsive to all of my questions. My home/site was cleaned up everyday by the workers. I felt comforted that I did not need to micro manage anyone. A few minor things have come up and everyone has been very responsive in getting them resolved. I have used other contractors before and Shawn and Chuck far exceeded all of my expections. RKA is an exceptional company.

RKA did an incredible job building our home. Just as impressive, their customer service was outstanding. Everyone really cared about our experience and went above and beyond to communicate and ensure our happiness. Our house was lost in a fire which made our circumstances difficult but RKA helped us to make the situation better. With a very limited amount of time, they built an absolutely beautiful home! I can't say enough about how great every person was at RKA!! The construction quality is amazing and I'm so thrilled our new home!

RKA was our builder for our 2013 gut renovation of our cape in North Bryn Mawr. We highly recommend RKA. They are a full-service construction and management firm that does top quality work. I would like to highlight a few areas where they really distiguished themselves during the course of our project: 1). Responsiveness: The team at RKA was very responsive at all times to any requests or questions that we had, whether by text message, e-mail or telephone. This was the complete opposite of some of the horror-stories you hear about other builders who never return phone calls. 2). Transparent Estimating Process: Throughout the project we were very pleased with the transparent budgeting process that RKA uses, we always knew the details of what we were being charged. Unlike many builders I hear about, RKA never jammed us on any of our change orders. 3). Speed: RKA literally worked round the clock some nights to get our family into our new home on a tight timeframe. 4). Good People: The team at RKA was always professional and kind. Our pre-schoolers loved the construction guys and still talk about our project supervisor Tony on a regular basis. All-in-all we got what we expected and much more with RKA.

We bought a custom spec home in 2010 built by Ranieri & Kerns Associates. Our home was beautifully appointed and very well built. The attention to detail was amazing. We have recommended RKA to Real Estate clients of ours looking to renovate their homes. They are very responsive, honest and are very easy to work with. We have since moved to a new home which will require some work to the exterior. When we are ready to do the project, RKA will be the first people we will call!
