They brought a capable and effective team in the field and in the office. As construction progressed, Rockridge managed their subcontractors and suppliers constructively to guide the project smoothly. Communication and documentation was accurate. Changes were accommodated fairly, even our upgrades in finish materials. Our project included the full rehabilitation of an historic home and the new build of the addition. Rockridge demonstrated broad expertise in bringing the tired historic home back to life, in the well-crafted addition, and blending the old and new together. During every facet of our dream home build, the Rockridge Building Company far exceeded our wildest expectations for quality and customer service. From the first site visit to our land with DJ Schappert in 2013 until we received our COO in April of 2017, the Rockridge team was fully engaged with a level of attention to detail that is both exceptional and rare in this day and age. They attended every meeting with our architects during the design process, providing valuable insights into all cost/benefit trade-offs. During the countless conference calls, on-site video sessions, and weekly email photo updates, their feedback allowed us to fully collaborate with subcontractors during the 18 month building process. Their well established relationships with these subcontractors ensured that we were fully involved in the thousands of decisions that go into building a custom home in the mountains. From the top down, there was never any hesitation on the part of this tight knit team to provide detailed answers and thoughtful recommendations to address the myriad of issues that arose during the construction of our home. And as these countless decisions were made, the staff was always able to clearly and concisely advise us on the impact these decisions would have on our budget. We cannot overemphasize that Rockridge is a thoroughly professional company that provided us with unmatched one-on-one customer service before, during, and after our home was completed. And finally, the friendly, “can do” attitude of everyone on the team made the entire process fun!

Rockridge Building Company was an amazing company to work with, especially DJ Schappert. We were building two houses at one time, and did not have the availability to get to Breckenridge more than a handful of times during the building process. Despite that, the experience was by far easier than even the local build we were doing. DJ and his team communicated everything in a timely and clear manner. DJ had invested the time to get to know us, and our style, so that he could anticipate what we would like or not like and help guide the process. He anticipated areas that might need to be looked at so that the final project would meet our expectations. When we asked for specialty finishes that were not common, their team took it as an exciting challenge as opposed to a hassle or inconvenience. The projected budget on the build was dead on, as well as the house being completed on time. The Rockridge staff was always helpful and pleasant no matter the request. I would never chose a different builder in that area, they care about you as a person, and want you to have your dream. We loved the personalized service that Rockridge provides, we were not just handed over to a different team once the project was sold. Rockridge gives the customer the expertise and attention to detail that you want when you are building a home.

This review could be short with one word - “PERFECT”, but I’ll give some details. My wife and I chose Rockridge to build our retirement home in the Highlands at Breckenridge, Colorado. It was completed in about 15 months and we moved in March, 2017. Every person with whom we worked at Rockridge was a pleasure. Professional, timely, competent, thorough, pleasant and on and on. Rockridge helped us select our building site and our architect. I can’t thank them enough for that input. The subcontractors they used were superb. High quality, timely and efficient. What we got but didn’t expect was a line-item detailed accounting for every penny spent on a monthly basis. Also, pictures of work progress every week sent to us at our primary home 900 miles away. With each set of pictures, the next week’s work plan was given. Anytime there was a delay (which was rare) we were told what was the cause and when the work would be back on schedule. What we also learned was: our new neighbor across the street is a retired home builder of high-end homes. The first day we moved in he came over to meet us and said, “I want you to know I’ve been coming over here every week and checking their work. They have really done an excellent job. Everything is first class “ I said “I know. I love it”. This note is for ALL at Rockridge “Thank you. Thank you.”

I would highly recommend using the Rockridge Building Company of Breckenridge, Colorado, for building a high quality, beautiful and eco-friendly structure that blends in with the Nordic feel of Colorado, yet encorporates all of the latest innovations in the building industry. Our house is close to the ski slopes and is built within a narrow envelope of land on our lot, thus accommodating an existing stream that serves as a watering attraction to the Colorado wildlife. The builder presented us with coordinated color and building materials such as granite, slate, and tiles that made the interiot decorating of the house easy and yet very attractive. Any neccessary changes were communicated to us in a timely and honest manner. Although we lived 9 hours away from the house, we felt confident that construction was progressing according to the scheduled plan. Repair work on our hot tub and the sound system was completed promptly and in accord with their expertise in this area. Our house has received many compliments on its appearance, great utilization of square footage, and its overall appeal to all of our guests.

Rockridge built our home in the Highlands of Breckenridge several years ago. We broke ground in August and were in our home by July. Rockridge was very easy and professional to work with. Since we lived out of state, Pete kept us informed in every way with our project. He sent pictures every week to keep us up with all the building progress. We love our home and are so appreciative of everything Pete and Stacy have done over the years. If we had a problem, even after several years, Pete helped us get it fixed - or pointed us in the right direction. The quality of their work and the people working on our job were excellent. You could not find a company better to work with.

Rockridge Building Company executed the plans that the architect and I envisioned for my vacation home in a professional, skillful, and cost effective manor. One of my concerns in starting this project was that I was living in my primary residence 1400 miles away while the vacation home was being built and thus, would not be able to check on the progress as frequently as I would like. Rockridge allayed those concerns by frequent email updates with photos of the work in progress. Any questions or clarifications were quickly addressed. Cost saving strategies were offered by the builder and there was full disclosure of all expenses and charges. The budget was adhered to and any deviations were fully explained. Rockridge took full responsibility for the work of the subcontractors. In the 5 years since this house was completed I have hired Rockridge on 2 other occasions to complete unfinished space in the house. The first time was to install a residential elevator. The second time was to transform unfinished space into a guest suite. My highest recommendation goes to this company.

This new home on the Blue River in Breckenridge, CO was a challenge to build with many choices made before and throughout the building process to its completion. The experienced staff at Rockridge were practiced at helping us make the difficult decisions by clearly and patiently outlining the pros and cons and costs of each option. I give great credit to the principle at Rockridge, Peter Joyce, who runs this company with considerable talent and expertise. He attracts excellent staff and builders and contractors who show him considerable respect and loyalty. This pays back in friendly, competent and timely completion of the work product. Pete's considerable experience in his field and his character and friendship have proven to be one of the most satisfying building experiences I have had. We now have a home to be proud of and I can honestly say my wife and I are completely satisfied.

Let me preface these remarks with the fact that this is the fourth home we have built. Rockridge just completed our mountain residence in Breckenridge Colorado. The company has been in business for many years in Summit County has definately has the experience and contacts to deliver a quality product. We were also blessed to have a wonderful project manager that was in daily contact with us as far as progress reports and addressing any concerns that we had. The home was just completed and was featured in the winter issue of Summit Magazine. A success for all! I would also like to add that the company uses accounting software that is user friendly. All draw requests were accompanied with a cover sheet and documenting paperwork to support the draw amount. We always knew exactly where we were in the financials as the clarity of accounting was exceptional. All change orders were verified in writing and also accompanied the draw requests. There was NO gray area as far as the expenses were concerned. IT WAS A JOY WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY. If you are contemplating building in the High Country definately interview these people. You will be glad that you did.

We chose Rockridge Builders after interviewing several other builders that worked in the Highlands. We immediately liked the attitude and professionalism of all the Rockridge team. Since we would be monitoring the project remotely it was important to us to have good communications and regular updates. Rockridge sent pictures of the progress each week and when we were able to be on site had a detailed list of questions and a schedule for the next phase. We discussed the decisions facing us and talked about any issues and possible options to resolve them along with budget implications as we progressed. They worked closely with our architect and listened to changes we might be thinking about. Pete and his general contractor paid very close attention to details and often had suggestions to improve the design and even save some costs when appropriate. They also provided interior design ideas for finishing the bathroom tile work, paint color selection, flooring and much more. We truely enjoyed working with Pete and his team and will use them again in the future for other large projects
