I contacted Shearer Painting about completing a significant apartment painting project. Tracie visited, evaluated the project, submitted an acceptable bid and began work. They worked quickly; did a very professional job; and completed the project very timely. They are our painter of choice for all future projects. They are very professional. Their communication with us was outstanding. I would highly recommend Shearer Painting.

I hired Shearer painting to paint my kitchen cabinets White. They went 2 weeks over the time frame that they said the project would be completed. Multiple problems with staff and paint getting on surfaces that weren't the cabinets. The bid was $5,995 for 32 openings I was received $800 off for getting paint on my boots and extra expenses incurred with their not completing the project on time I had no use of my kitchen for 3 weeks. The project wrapped up and I was glad to see them go ....only to discover not even a year later that the paint is chipping and it is a flawed project. Mr. Shearer came to look at the cabinet and was very harsh with me. I am now filing small claims action against Shearer painting because they refuse to return my money. I will now have to either replace the cabinets or have them refinished again. Mr. Shearer does not care about this at all I have saved all emails and pictures of this debacle and we'll be fighting for my rights in court. I felt all along that they were playing "what can I get away with" instead of acting like real professionals. I found them on houzz.com so it's only right that other customers of houzz.com know what you're really in for when hiring Shearer painting I'm sure mr. Shears response will be as harsh as his attitude when addressing problems save yourself the trouble go elsewhere. And most of all instead of adding value to my home he has decreased the value of my home with his substandard practices and feeling as if it's okay to leave me with this mess. he wanted to come back and touch up the paint his remedy was to come back and touch up the paint and at this point I would not allow him to touch one more thing in my home.

painted cabinets
I met with Ms. Hayward at her home. There are two impact spots smaller than 1/10 of an inch on her paint cabinets from the painting completed 12 months earlier; the rest of the cabinet package is well adhered and intact. I have pictures and videos from our visit and the sections. It is normal to touch up these sections; she refused that or to have a paint rep look at the cabinets for a third opinion. Ms. Hayward only insisted on getting her money back. Which I politely refused and explained as unreasonable; and again offered a reasonable remedy of touchup repair.
At that point Ms. Hayward re-stated her earlier threat by email to write bad reviews. Ms. Hayward was crying and stating that her kitchen was ruined. I wrote her an email four days after our visit again offering to repaint the two spots.
During the painting a year earlier Ms. Hayward had threatened and bullied her way into contract add ons and a price reduction; in additional to inappropraite interogation of my workmen leading to complaints and requests to transfer from that project.

Shearer Painting has been used on several of our projects. Their work has always met our high standards as well as our owners. Their office staff and field crews are easy to work with, they work hard to meet the schedule that they set forth and their finished product is always of the highest quality. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a painter.

I referred Shearer Painting to my client for an exterior paint job. I worked with the client on the color design for his craftsman home in the Mount Baker neighborhood. Being a craftsman, the design used seven different colors to make the most of the architectural elements. Not only did Shearer painting do a beautiful job on the prep and repair work prior to painting, they also followed the color specifications impeccably. They were professional and did not require me to come back out to the house to explain the specifications. They did it perfectly the first time! I feel great about referring Shearer Painting to my clients.

My husband and I hired Shearer Painting to paint multiple rooms, doors and ceilings within our condo. From beginning to end John and his team were extremely professional and made the process easy for us - John provided us with a lot of great suggestions and was very communicative throughout the project. The work itself was amazing - his team paid excellent attention to detail - no complaints on any of the patching or paint work. They did a clean paint job! I personally appreciated that when they wrapped up the project the condo was spotless and they had put it back together as it was before they started the work. We are very happy with the results. Paint color does make a huge difference in the feel of your home - wish we'd done it sooner!

John is one of my go-to painters in Seattle. I know when his team is on the job it will be done with the highest level of professionalism. He knows products like nobody else and he is constantly educating me about new products, their benefits and limitations. I also completely trust him to be kind and fair with my clients - which is a big deal to me.
I count him as a valued collaborator and a friend and his name is on the list of painters to call at the end of every Color Consultation I do.
You should call him too!

John and his team did a fantastic job and completed the project on time. The workers were very respectful and we felt comfortable letting them into our home while we were away. The painted was detail oriented and I don't think they missed any spots. I highly recommend Shearer!

My wife and I called John Shearer in the fall after the incompetent first painting company we’d hired stopped showing up halfway through the job. John assured us that he’d fix our botched paint job and make sure that we got the results we wanted. And, to save the day, he immediately preserved the newly bared wood on the house by painting it with primer to protect it for the coming winter.
In the spring, at the first sign of good weather, John followed up as promised. Since he had already done a perfect job painting our new exterior kitchen door in his shop with Fine Paints of Europe we had positive expectations. He and his crew did not disappoint. Gabriel, John’s crew lead, arrived at 8 a.m. sharp, introduced himself, gave us his card, and invited us to call or email him any time with any questions or concerns. Gabriel and Roberto immediately went to work. They knew exactly what they were doing with all aspects of the job, including responding appropriately to the surprise of rotted wood that had been filled with interior spackle and painted over by the previous painters. Gabriel and Roberto were great communicators, quiet, neat, organized, thoughtful, and skilled. In less than a week they had saved the day by finishing the job that had unnecessarily dragged on for months with the previous company. To give you an example of their courtesy and manners, one day Gabriel mentioned that while working on a basement window a little dirt had fallen inside the house. He offered to come inside to clean it up. While it was unnecessary, we appreciated this level of customer service and attention to detail.
Our house looks great! John Shearer is highly skilled and experienced in all aspects of painting. He is also an excellent business person. He will not disappoint! What is refreshing is that he and his staff and crew place equal values on painting and on the highest customer service. We’re so thrilled with the service that he provided us that we plan to call on him for all our future painting needs.

John is passionate about painting and the quality of finished product in a way that I have never experienced with another painting contractor. He is extremely attentive to detail and has a sophisticated knowledge of color and products.
John's team is clean, respectful, careful and does excellent work. I would not hesitate to use Shearer Painting again and have, in fact, referred them to friends and clients.

Shearer Painting is a top notch operation. Not only is the quality of the painting excellent, the prep work and protection work is well done. The owner John has a can-do attitude and is knowledgeable beyond imagination on the chemistry and science of paint. It is no surprise that Shearer Painting is often selected for high-end high design projects, it is their specialty.

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Shearer Painting is unique among painting contractors - in my professional life as owner of Daly's Paint stores, I meet and work with A LOT of painting contractors - so I come at this review from a different perspective than simply as someone who's been a client.
John Shearer, owner of Shearer Painting, is invested. He invests in his people, he invests in his company and he continually maintains a curiosity and energy about learning new things that will help his company treat clients to the best possible service/products.
His enthusiasm is contaigous, and you know that he personally cares about each and every project.
Therefore, when I needed to repaint the exterior of my contemporary 4-story home last spring, I chose Shearer Painting. I knew this was not an easy knock-it-out repaint, it involved a LOT of prep and repair, so I wanted a company that could handle the scope of work. It also involved the Shearer Painting staff to learn a whole new Eco paint system from Fine Paints of Europe- which they eagerly agreed to learn.
The staff was respectful. The jobsite was always clean at the end of the day and the quality of the work was superior. And I felt my house was very well cared for. Very pleased.
