Our kitchen remodel and full house of hardwood flooring turned out absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be happier with the team's level of communication and attention to detail. Everyone from the owner to the carpenters were great to work with. From start to finish, we felt like Yaniv understood our vision, addressed our concerns and felt like a trusted advisor. We had a few issues pop up mid project (as you would expect with a 100 year old home) and the team explained all the options thoroughly and we were able to pivot quickly. The kitchen turned out even better than we had hoped, they really went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect and felt high end. We will be using Taragano Design for our next project and would enthusiastically recommend.

Yaniv managed a major renovation on our home that included expanding the second floor, remodeling the kitchen, permitting the ‘iffy’ spaces, and updating several other areas. It was a complicated project with neighborhood hearings, permits, inspections, and a seemingly endless number of decisions, and he did a great job helping us navigate all of it. We didn't use an architect or a designer, meaning we relied entirely on Yaniv's expertise to brainstorm layout and design ideas. He was a great sounding board, incredibly clear in his communication, and an expert at navigating the complex web of California building codes and city permits. He made it explicitly clear what decisions were required on our end and guided us through what I thought was an overwhelming process. We also appreciated how accommodating he was while we were dealing with construction during the pandemic with a baby. We had to move out temporarily for the demo portion, but Yaniv worked hard to accommodate our schedule so we could move back in sooner rather than later. Any large construction project is going to have its hiccups, but my wife and I are still very happy with the finished product years later. I’d absolutely recommend Yaniv to anyone looking for someone knowledgeable, practical, and easy to work with.

Yaniv and his crew did a complete house remodel for us in 2018 where we converted our basement space and an odd add-on hallway sized room into two bedrooms and a full bathroom, created an open space concept on our main floor making the small living room, dining room, and kitchen much more accessible, and expanding a primary bedroom walk-in-closet and expanding the primary bathroom into a weird unused space to create a spa shower. In the process, Yaniv and his crew discovered that our slab was too thin, our posts were not buried, and that the main cross-beam in our house was basically made of balsa wood and twine. This was an extensive remodel. Throughout it all I appreciated Yaniv’s focus on prioritizing the right fixes, his patience with me when I came up with ridiculously stupid cost-cutting ideas, and the fact that he always had ideas for how to accomplish goals at lower cost but preserving the quality we were looking for. We really appreciated his help, our two small children love the house, and we would gladly hire him and his crew again.

I’ve stumbled on a fabulous contractor! Our home is 8 years old, and we shouldn’t have had the water leakage we had. The shower in the second bath had been leaking, causing extensive damage. We had to completely replace the bathroom due to water infiltration, as well as some sheetrock in the dining room and the second bedroom. When I was in my 20s, I would have repaired myself, but now I’m in a wheelchair and decisively, not 20!! I was referred to a contractor from Concord named Yaniv Taragano, of Taragano Design and Build, and that was the best referral ever! We also had other projects in mind: replace the kitchen sink with a copper one, replace the under-cabinet lights, install two ceiling fans, add “can lights” to the main bedroom, add a pot-filler, replace the bathtub, add a door to the laundry room, and re-paint the interior. Yaniv saved us a bunch of money throughout the project. For instance, he color-matched the wall paint exactly, so only a touch-up was necessary to achieve beautiful walls! He’s bonded and insured, and most importantly, he and his people are very careful. I also checked out his license, and there was not a single blemish. He was very timely, and he or his foreman came every day on time. His workers were very cognizant that we still lived in the house and carefully cleaned up every day. We had the pleasure of working with Yaniv on our house remodel. Our project was a large-scale remodel of a 4000+ sf house, that transformed an uninspired, outdated, and dark interior to a modern, light-filled interior. As an architect-owner with much design time and emotion, as well as money invested in the project, I probably rank pretty high on the fastidious scale of clients. Yaniv was conscientious about following up with any concerns I had on work in progress. We worked through the challenging pieces of my project with tight dimensional tolerances and unusual details including large scale pivot doors, blind doors, skylight wells with complex geometries, flush invisible baseboards, stepped reveal between wall and stairs, and others. This care was taken while sticking to the construction schedule, and allowing us to move in on-schedule (which also allowed us to move out of our previous house and to sell it). We thoroughly enjoy our new house. Thank you to Yaniv!

I want to give a shout out to Yaniv Taragano. We have lived in the Oakland Hills for 42 years in a house that we have loved all that time. Unfortunately, there was a leak in the ceiling of a room addition that was added on before we bought the house. It was only noticeable during very heavy rainstorms so it was easy to put off getting it fixed. I am embarrassed to say that this lasted for several years. Two years ago, we decided to do something about it and had several contractors come out to look at it. They basically either took a quick look and said that we just needed to have better flashing installed (which didn’t sound right to me) or they advised that I get a roofing person. Then Yaniv came. He did a very thorough analysis of the situation and not only advised a plan to fix the basic problem but also made recommendations (for a very modest additional cost), to take advantage of the construction to put in a beautiful picture window and enlarge our deck. He took care of all the engineering that was required, got the permits, came regularly during the construction to check in on things and stayed in touch regularly. We were thrilled with the result. The original leak is solved, and we have a spectacular view window and deck. We couldn’t have been happier with Yaniv’s holistic approach to our need and the follow through, taking the project from design to finished construction. I am very pleased to recommend him highly to anyone who has building project.

Taragano Design and Build We have hired Yaniv twice. The first time was in 2018, when he remodeled our kitchen. The kitchen was a total tear-down and Yaniv did a great job. He tore down a wall and fireplace (other bidders said they couldn’t do that with my budget), and created a large open airy welcoming area. Recently he finished a double bathroom remodel which included tearing down both bathrooms and building a large two-story addition, with a large bathroom upstairs and a laundry room and bathroom downstairs. He worked with me and my husband so that we could participate in the design process, we could choose the appliances and finishes we wanted, and we could interact with him during tear-down and re-building regarding changes and modifications and any other concerns we had. Remodeling is a difficult process. It’s good to have someone committed, hard-working and meticulous on your side. Five stars, 10 out of ten.

Yaniv and his team did a kitchen remodel for us. We were very pleased with the professionalism and work ethic of the team. Yaniv and his lead foreman communicated the details of the work being done daily as well as any changes to the original plan. The job was also completed on time (perhaps even early) which was critical as it needed to be done before hosting Thanksgiving that year. I highly recommend Yaniv and hope to be working with him again in the future for our bathroom remodels.

Despite a particularly stressful time for us — navigating insurance issues and recovering from a prior negative contractor experience — Yaniv and his crew provided outstanding guidance and attention throughout the project, helping us complete the remodel on schedule.
