When we moved to Greenville, we purchased a 1960s midcentury modern home. It was in a state of total disrepair, and we knew we had a lot of work to do! Our goal was to take the entire structure down to the bones and do a complete update both inside and out, including roofing, exterior siding, landscaping, retaining walls, electrical, concrete work, stucco work, plumbing , HVAC, and remodeling and reconfiguring the interior. We spent over a year interviewing contractors and getting bids. We wanted a company that had vision, unique problem-solving skills and a passion for midcentury design. We were dissatisfied with the options until we met Corey. From the moment we met Corey it was a totally different experience compared to other companies in the region. Corey spent an unbelievable amount of time talking to us about our vision and evaluating the house. He thoughtfully worked through the problems with the house, always with an eye towards and appreciation of the unique characteristics of the house. He developed a comprehensive plan based on both our goals and needs, as well as the problems with the home structure and function. The time, dedication, expertise, and creative thinking he devoted to the project BEFORE he was even hired sold us on Tekton. The experience only improved from there. Tekton provides a bespoke experience. Corey has incredible expertise and a true dedication to extraordinarily high-quality work. He is a craftsman of the highest caliber and a problem solver. We are amazed at the beauty and precision of the work. We look around and see so many special touches that we didn’t know we wanted or needed. Those things made a huge difference in the end result. Corey elevated the project in a way that is beyond words. He understood the importance of respecting the original design and intent of the house. He helped us take contemporary materials and create a space that has modern conveniences but is also congruent with the style of the home. He created a show piece. The most amazing part is that when we compare the bid and scope of work between Tekton and the other contractors we talked to, Tekton provided a much greater value per dollar spent. Corey and his team are honest, professional, friendly people. It is clear they really care about their clients and the quality of their work. Corey was on the job every day and communicated promptly and effectively. He did a great job of keeping the budget updated and on target. Tekton Builds completely renovated our fifty year old kitchen including new cabinets, installed new appliances and new sink, oversaw the installation of new hardwood flooring, granite countertops, and installed beautiful new lighting! Tekton are a talented and incredibly hard-working team of people. We have been restoring a 1960’s mid-century home designed by Kirk Craig, with significant potential. The most extensive and important part of the renovation was the kitchen, which was a bit of a relic. The challenge for us was finding partners who understood how to bring the forward-looking design of the house together with fresh materials. We needed a team that could see the look and feel we were trying to achieve, and the talent and work ethic to deal with structure, flooring, electrical, appliances, hvac, cabinetry and finish. Corey and Todd (Sensitive Information HIdden) at Tekton are that team, covering the vast majority of the trades themselves. As a result they owned the work and moved fast. They understood, and contributed to, the design choices and modern lines that worked with the house; combining spaces that live up to the vision that the original architect would recognize and appreciate. They are smart and dedicated to their craft. They are always there and always answer. Tekton stands apart from and above every other company we have worked with. Corey and Todd documented their plan in a google calendar, and sent weekly updates on what was achieved, and what was to come next. They worked through a difficult material issue with flooring, and apart from that their execution was incredibly accurate - practically down to the hour. Their standards are relentlessly high, they clean and prep and maintain the job site, and do meticulous detail work that it takes to achieve an outstanding result that others would simply let slide. After all of the heavy reconstruction, even the drywall, paint, and restoration of the original cypress trim are all done with an eye for perfection.
