The Thorson team did an A+ renovation/remodel on our home 4 years ago, so we did not hesitate to contact them when a recent leak (NOT related in any way to their previous work) impacted multiple areas in our home, including our master bath and bedroom. This was challenging because we were in a hurry to make repairs, and needed nearly every trade involved. We needed honest and reliable advice in a pinch, and knew that Eric would know exactly what to do, and that he would make sure every step would be done properly. He kindly accommodated us despite a busy workload, and moved the project along as quickly as he could. His team is excellent, and they handled every aspect of our project with care and attention to detail. This was another A+ experience with Thorson. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!

We were very pleased working with Eric Thorson and his entire professional group. His team of carpenters and painters were experts in their fields caring to keep our home in tact and protected while they worked. We are quite satisfied with the outcome of this project. We contracted with Thorson for a whole house project that included resupporting and residing a historic 1816 2-story Greek Revival main house, gutting and rearranging the interior of an 1876 old addition, adding a new 2-story extension to the house for family room and master bedroom suite, and building covered porches/patios to knit the exterior together. Our vision was to preserve the character of the old house throughout the changes, maintaining the extensive wood detailing and built-ins and exterior Greek corners and gables, while bringing the house systems, bathrooms, and finishes up to the latest efficiency standards and technology. Thorson embraced this goal completely and executed a high quality restoration/renovation with exact matches of all of the new woodwork to the old and custom building cabinetry and porch columns to suit. Materials recommended and subcontractors selected all maintained the qualify standard set by Thorson. It was a pleasure working with Eric and his talented crews. We are enjoying the final product immensely and expect it to last for the next century.

We contracted with Thorson to replace 21 casement windows and all doors. The quality of workmanship and on-time performance exceeded our expectations. Every person we interfaced with was pleasant and knowledgeable.

We contracted them to modernize and renovate a circa 1900 lakeside farmhouse campus – house, barn, carriage house and more – all in need of a lot of TLC. We began with the main house, cutting off some old, uninspiring rooms and adding back a new wing, with garage and several bedrooms & bathrooms, all while executing a full renovation of all the core living areas of the house. Finished in 2018, the results are spectacular, even though the challenges were not always straightforward. As walls were opened up, we encountered curious building practices from decades of previous alterations. Nevertheless, Eric and his crews took everything in stride, proceeding with care and confidence from one challenge to the next. Every single person who set foot on our property, whether from Eric’s own team or from contractor’s teams, was professional, competent, courteous, and extremely respectful of the property and us, its owners. Overseeing it all, Eric brought craftsmanship and attention to detail that always met or exceeded our expectations, as well as an uncanny ability to realize our visions while honoring the original charm and character of the house. All this was combined with transparency, adaptability and real-time responsiveness to our every inquiry. We are now looking forward to proceeding with Eric on the rest of the campus.

We have hired Thorson Restoration a few times over the last fifteen years to do everything from a bathroom remodel to a whole house remodel. They are consistently professional and thorough, and the quality of their work is outstanding. They are easy to work with and get the job done to your specifications. We selected Thorson Restoration to renovate our summer cottage of 10 years into our eventual year round home based on strong recommendations and their beautiful portfolio of previously renovated projects. Just as we were signing the contract in February 2018, we purchased a small guest house across the street and asked if they could do some cosmetic work there before the summer. Even with a full schedule of renovations underway, they agreed to the work which increased from cosmetic to a kitchen and bath re-do. Thorson handled the change in project scope with grace and gave our less than 1,000 sf project the same thoroughness and detail they give their million dollar homes. Eric and his staff are always willing to take the time to explain the pros and cons of a particular material or construction technique. The project was in fact completed in time for plenty of summer fun. We are just as thrilled with Thorson’s work on our main house renovation which is currently underway. We recommend them highly and will continue to use them for any future projects.

We renovated an entire mid-century modern home which is not a typical job for Thorson Restoration. Throughout the process there was excellent customer service and amazing work! The crew was on site when they said they would be and professional. Eric was available throughout the process and kept us informed along the way.

We hired Thorson Restoration to redo 2 bathrooms in our house. The project was all high end materials. Since we moved out of our home for three months to complete the job, we also asked them to do some other work around the house. We are now in month 14 of a 3 month project. The Thorson team did very sloppy work and they did not know how to install high end materials. Their tile installer ruined very expensive tile that we selected. Many of the tiles in a steam shower cracked and we have been trying to get them to fix the shower for over 2 months. All we get are excuses and attempts to blame the problems on other people including the tile vendor and the project architect. There have been many other problems with the project including a failure to properly drain the shower which took them over four months to resolve. I would never hire them again to do a project. I have no idea when this project will get completed because they no longer answer my e-mails.

We hired Eric and his team to relocate our master bedroom over our garage, reframe our main roof line and reconfigure our second floor. Our project had many moving pieces and involved all the systems as well as significant structural work. Eric and his team orchestrated the project on time and on budget. We couldn't have been happier with the work that was completed as well as the through communication from start to finish. I would highly recommend the Thorson team for any project as their integrity and hard work separates them from others.
