When we bought our house in April the only words I could use to describe the kitchen were: dark, small, and cramped. I hated the idea of a renovation and made that clear from the start of this whole process with everyone we spoke to, but Lisa and Derek Walczak were the contracting and design duo I never knew I needed in my life. While we had a few hiccups along the way as any project will (shout out to the pipe in the middle of our open concept), Lisa, Derek and their whole team were always there to answer questions, quell concerns and make sure things were done right. Because of them, we have a spacious and bright kitchen that makes me want to cook! Our house is now a home because of them. I cannot recommend Walczak Design and Build enough! I have never met anyone who cares more about their clients and goes above and beyond any and all expectations. While we wrapped up construction a few weeks ago, they have still been readily available to answer questions, or make touch ups as needed due to everything settling into place. Lisa just came by today and dropped off a little thank you gift for us and our new puppy (who she had just learned about that morning). It really is the little things that make all the difference. Hope they’re ready for us when we need them next!

Lisa worked closely with us to generate a design to meet the unique vision for our kitchen remodeling project. Allowing us to reuse some of the cabinetry minimizing disruption. Then helped select commercially available appliances and fixtures combined with custom components. Finally, capped it off with some unique accents to give it an elegant look. The entire team executed on the plan in a professional and timely manner that resulted in the chefs kitchen we had envisioned.

Lisa and Derek are great partners. When I was designing a home to build. Lisa's laser-sharp focus was extremely helpful with ensuring the details were met and that we were not missing anything that would be critical to the function. The team also has great tools to provide transparency to the process so things are not lost between email and text. It's so helpful to have a central place to have communication with the team and see the project's next steps. Walczak Design + Build has elevated the whole build/design relationship and so lucky to have found them!

We were lucky enough to work with Derek and Lisa on our recent first floor renovation. It was our first experience with a large-scale renovation and they were incredible to work with. They are both consummate professionals, and were extremely considerate of our many questions and personal preferences. They have high standards for the quality of their work in addition to the satisfaction of their clients, and will diligently work (or re-work) to make sure they get it right. The Walczak team was a pleasure to have in our home while we were living in the house during construction, and we trusted them implicitly when we were able to be away. They left the house clean every day and made sure it was sparkling at the end of the project. Their ability to communicate the information of the project, the context, the choices we needed to make, and reassure us when we needed it was outstanding, and made themselves available to us whenever we needed. They always listened to our concerns with understanding. The design process provided a clear direction without going down any rabbit holes, and we always felt they both had our best interests in mind, in addition to being stewards of our large investment. Our house is more comfortable, more beautiful, more valuable, warmer, and safer and we don't think we could have found a better team to work with. We will always be grateful for their hard work and collaboration with us.

My wife and I engaged Lisa and Derek for a complete remodel of our 1st floor powder room and a custom built-in wall unit in the family room....and we can not be more pleased with the results! Despite not being a "major" project, it really has transformed a high-traffic and much-utilized area into a space that we love spending time in. Lisa spearheaded the design process...and what we appreciated was how she really listened to what we were looking for (although often times we weren't even sure ourselves). She provided various options and we never felt pressured into any aspects of the design that we were not comfortable with. Prior to the project, we had a live edge mirror that we wanted to incorporate into the powder room and Lisa came up with some great ideas to complement the mirror with her designs. Also, we were very particular about how we wanted the built-in wall unit to look and function...and Lisa came up with a great design that worked really well in our space. And she was also very up-front about the cost ramifications to any change that we were considering. In terms of the execution of the build, we appreciated Derek's attention to detail and he made sure that we were happy with how everything looked and worked. As with any project, we came across a few unexpected build challenges along the way, but Derek always had a way to make things right, not taking short-cuts just to make it easier for himself. Thanks again to both Lisa and Derek!

We hired Walczak Design & Build for the remodel of 2 bathrooms. They were easy to work with throughout the entire project - which lasted around 4 months. The design phase was very helpful and provided a very important visual on how our remodeling ideas, when completed, would look like. Walczak was very flexible in idea changes, communicated very well during the entire process and was always willing to meet to answer any and all questions. They always made sure we understood next steps, what / how changes would impact the design and budget. Overall, we are very happen with the final product and highly recommend them. We would definitely look to them for future projects.

The Walczak team was a pleasure to work with. Always on time, in constant communication and very responsive to any questions we had throughout the process. We hired Walczak to design and remodel our master bath and the end result exceeded our expectations. It is truly a dream bathroom. Every detail was well thought out. Lisa was easy to work with and turned our haphazard design ideas into a gorgeous and well functioning reality. Derek and his team were clearly skilled at their craft and take great pride in their work. In the end we decided to hire them again to renovate two additional bathrooms in our home. An en suite bathroom they made sophisticated and beautiful with custom wainscoting, stunning tiling and a standout vanity. Our boys bathroom got an updated look as well. Derek designed a storage shelf unit as a solution to an otherwise awkward nook in that bathroom. We are immensely happy with all 3 of our projects that Walczak Design + Build did.

We LOVE our new bathroom and the experience was fantastic! Walczak Design & Build is exactly that! We were given 3 different design plans from which we picked all of our favorite parts of each to make our final plans. As the project went along, we were able to tweak things along the way and keep ourselves within the budget. During each stage of the process, both Lisa & Derek were there with the suggestions/answers/guidance that we needed. It was a great experience for us as homeowners and we’ve already signed them on for more projects!

Walczak`s entire team was always kind and respectful. They do an excellent job cleaning up at the end of every day. Both Derek and lisa always made themselves available to discuss any of our questions or concerns, until we were 100% confident with our decisions. The quality of craftsmanship was top notch. Derek is very skilled with detail work and was able to come up with a perfect fireplace design with only a couple of inspiration photos. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the final result of our kitchen, bath, mudroom, living room renovation.

Our family had outgrown our space and made the decision to stay and renovate. Walczack Design & Build completed a major renovation for us last spring and summer. Today we have a beautiful second floor space that exceeded our expectations. From the beginning, WDB understood our desired vision and helped us achieve it while staying within our budget. The craftsmanship and attention to detail can be seen throughout the project. We lived in our house during the renovation and the crew was always professional and beyond accommodating. Despite the challenges that can come with living in your home during a reno, we would do it again in a heartbeat with WDB! I had a dream of renovating my kitchen since buying my home in 2012. The kitchen was just so dark with very little usable storage and was last updated circa 1980. Along with the multicolor walls, I also had no place to really sit and eat. My must haves were making my space brighter with the ability to comfortably entertain guests....while keeping to the periods of the house (built 1904). Since this was my first home i took great lengths along with much do diligence in finding the right company to hire. I ended up vetting six contractor/design companies and many hours looking up their backgrounds before finally hiring Walczak Design and Build. From the initial meeting, through the design process and up to the final inspection I never once regretted my decision or felt I could have done better. The most impressive thing about working with Lisa and Derek, aside from them both being completely gifted in their craft, was how so available they were to answer questions and address any concerns no matter how trivial they were. Communication was top notch and every interaction was not only completely professional but also warm and authentic. I never had to wait long to hear back from either of them and when the unexpected did arise, as is course for any renovation, I always felt they cared about how it would effect my project and did their utmost to alleviate any consequences when possible. Lisa is a dynamo and a fantastic advocate with a keen eye for style, while Derek is a stickler for detail and has an obvious passion for what he does. What resulted from this dynamic combination was a kitchen and living room that far exceeded anything I ever could have hoped or imagined. The most common response I get when people see the transformation is “Oh my God...this is amazing”. To say I’m happy is such an understatement it’s ridiculous. I did go over budget a bit but the overages, aside of finding a load of knob and tube that needed to be brought up to code, were my choice and cleared by me before work was done. If you are looking for high quality people to do impeccable quality work to make your home a sanctuary to be admired, then you would do well to hire Walczak Design and Build.

We love what Walczak design and build created for our home. We shared our vision and they executed it beautifully. We knocked down the wall between our kitchen and dining room and converted our half bath to a full. Everyone who walks into our home is amazed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. They made themselves available after hours when questions arose, worked around our schedules, and were a joy to have in our home. Every night that they left, everything was put back so we could still use our kitchen while the work was being done. We didn’t get take out once! We are thrilled with how it turned out and would highly recommend them.

We bought a fixer upper with great bones and heaps of potential. And one place in desperate need of help was the kitchen. We had worked with Lisa in a previous life and we knew she was the most trustworthy project manager we would find. What we learned through this process was that she also had an impressive eye for design, and she had an equally impressive and talented building partner, Derek. Their team transformed our house. Every sub-contractors did quality work, and they were the friendliest bunch of people you could ask for. To complicate things we went into this kitchen project with high expectations and a 2-year-old who gets into everything. The final product exceeded our expectations (we have a show stopper kitchen) and during the project, they made sure to take the time to clean up their tools every single day. They kept dangerous things out of reach of a toddler. When our world was upside down with no kitchen it gave us peace of mind knowing they had taken these extra steps. I would hire Walczak Design and Build again, and I highly recommend them for the most complicated design and construction endeavors.

We hired Walczak Design & Build to redesign the upstairs of our garage into a studio apartment for my wife's mother. They did an amazing job both with the design and construction and the end result was beautiful. My mother-in-law is very happy with the space.

Working with Derek, Lisa and their team on our new kitchen was an absolute pleasure. They were all creative, professional, courteous, super communicative and organized (and ensure that all their subcontractors were as well). Lisa and Derek both took a very collaborative approach to working with us - making it as low-stress as possible. They gave us great design options to choose from, presented us with ideas for materials that would never have occurred to us (but which look fantastic) and they were very flexible in terms of ensuring that they stayed under our budget constraints. The project finished on time, under budget and it looks AMAZING. We would recommend them to anyone for any project big or small, they already have our next one lined up. Our new kitchen is the heart of our home and has been life changing.
