We have a top-notch designer that we work with and has completed 3 of our properties but she didn’t know of any contractors in NYC. She found West Village GC on Google which concerned me at first but they provided a full list of references that my designer checked. She even went to a few of the client’s homes and was convinced that they were the right contractor for us. We had a 14-month renovation that she managed remotely and said she has never worked with a more professional company. So when James asked me to write this review I was happy to - we love our NYC home and the process for us and our designer was absolutely seamless. She has never been more relaxed during any of our other projects and 2 were local. Thank you, James and your whole team. We use every opportunity to refer you.

The service provided by West Village was amazing. This is not our first renovation and as such we anticipated there would be moments when glitches occur. So, of course, there were a few but what is especially amazing about West Village and Leszek, was the prompt attention to resolving the issues no matter how small in order to assure that our outcome was the dream home we had been hoping and planning for. As a result, our home is exactly what we envisioned and the process was as good as any renovation project can be. The workers were prompt, clean, considerate AND attentive to issues like our travel schedule so we could listen in on meetings or we would get the agenda in advance and have our questions answered. The quality of the work is also worthy of mention. We had originally explored the more moderately priced contractor but ended with moving up in our choice to a higher-end contractor and we are so happy with the results. We also really appreciated the supply vendors/distributors that West Village uses. The tile workers were also amazing and attended to small details I would have never seen. Overall it was a fairly painless process and I will plan on using West Village for any of our future renovations.

I had a flood in my apartment from my neighbors bath tub. I was so upset and didn't know what to do, so I googled and found West Village. James answered my questions and helped immensely with my insurance company. He told me that they would pay to put me up as the work was being done and negotiated on my behalf. He said that his company deals with insurance claims all the time and the fact that I called right away was very helpful. I'm so happy I called West Village right away, I had no idea how complicated it could have been until I spoke with a friend that went through a similar situation and didn't have help working with her insurance company.

After looking for a while a friend told me to contact West Village and we knew right away after talking to them it was going to be a great experience. We had some sub par experiences in the past, so James' straightforward approach was appreciated. Our home was due for a remodel. James helped us pick out an architect and interior designer. James told us that because of the complexity of the plan it would take 12 months to complete - so we got to know him and his team very well. Throughout the renovation, James stuck to his word and we were never given any extra charges that were unfair. Most of the additional work orders were due because we added things like extra lighting and better home automation. The project was done on time, and it was done in our budget. I have a newfound respect for the construction industry now and the people that work in it. I consider myself lucky to have found such an amazing contractor. So glad to finally be done with this process, and will be passing along their info whenever we can. Dream come true, five stars!

A friend of mine had a terrible experience with her contractor so I asked her who she felt would have been a better choice. She recommended West Village who she turned down for being 30% more expensive than her contractor. By the time her renovation was done - she said she had paid more to this company than she would have to West Village and it took two times longer than her contractor said he would. I called West Village and James came to my apartment to take a look. He was super professional from the beginning. I didn’t tell him who had referred me, I just brought him in as well as two other contractors. James was the only one that was really blunt with pricing. He said approximately how much it would cost and how long it would take. He didn’t try and sell me. I ended up hiring James and his team and my project was finished on-time and on-budget! I’m glad I learned from my friend’s mistake - she gave up on the other contractor coming back and finishing his incomplete list. Mine was done within a week of getting my apartment back! I did a 1 Million Dollar renovation in Chicago and thought I knew what I was talking about. In some ways I did, in others I was so surprised. Especially when it came to the hold-ups in the Department of Buildings. The project went smoothly with the guidance of James, Leszek and the team. I am so pleased with the final result!

Tray Glidewell

When I first met James I didn't know how to take him. He was one of 4 contractors I had come through my new co-op in Tribeca. Everyone else nodded their heads and agreed with what I was showing them then quoted on the job. James walked in, I showed him what I was going to do and he started asking really probing questions. He asked me what my priorities are, why I was doing what I was doing and then asked if he could make some suggestions. I was curious so I let him speak. I expected that he was going to up-sell me, but he stared making suggestions to decrease the scope of work and not increase it! He was interested in me getting value from what I was doing and clearly he had a great deal of experience to draw from. James doesn't 'look like a contractor' when you meet him. He doesn't act like the typical contractor either. He's polished and when he meets with you he's early. His whole team shows up early for meetings! It's such a refreshing change to the industry. I'm a developer and I hired James for my own apartment renovation, I'm so glad that I did. You won't be disappointed if you do.
