The husband and wife team of Jim and Gerri Boyd founded the business in 1970, trading as Jim Boyd’s Carpet World in the Baltimore MD area. In 1998, the company moved to their current modern 11,500 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse in Timonium, MD offering sales and installation for a wide selection of quality carpeting, area rugs, hardwood flooring, laminates, vinyl and ceramic tile. In 1999, Jim and Gerri joined the national buying co-op Flooring America. This affiliation provides our customers with an even greater selection of flooring, more competitive pricing and extended warranties. Our carpet & flooring store serves the needs of both residential homeowners and business customers, including many interior designers, interior decorators and home builders. One factor setting the company apart is their strong emphasis on superior customer service. We recently purchased carpet for a new master bedroom suite and replaced stair carpet. The matching area rug for the bottom of the stairs had to be customized and edged and the result looks great. Everyone we dealt with was helpful and responsive.

Boyd’s customer service is superior and the installers were professional and left no mess behind when they were finished. We had two bathroom floors redone and one new toilet installed. The salesperson, Cathy, went out of her way to show us every available flooring option, was very knowledgeable and helpful with our decision. We will definitely go back if we need any other type of flooring and ask for her. The installer, Dustin, was easy to talk to and kept me informed of what he was working on. I felt very confident in his skills. Our bathrooms now not only look beautiful but have a clean finished edge to the floors and borders.

I worked with Cathy Coleman on two jobs - bathroom (Alterna) and living room (Karndean) in the last ten months. She was very professional, courteous and friendly. I bought my hardwood floors (living room, dining room, kitchen, den and hallway) from Jim Boyd's. The installation went smoothly and I was so happy with my floors. Then, after having them for almost a year, a manufacturer's defect showed up (floors were not finished properly so they got streaks). Jim Boyd's team handled the entire claims process for me, had me pick out a new floor and it was installed just last week. I could not be happier with my floors and I could not be happier with the service I received from Jim Boyd's Flooring America.
