“My small basement was in desperate need of renovation. Honestly, it was gross and I dreaded even going walking through it (to get to the backyard). Although small, it was made into a basement apartment with small kitchen, bathroom & bedroom. I wanted to renovate by removing the kitchen & shower & creating a rec room with a space to exercise. Didn’t seem like a big deal and a simple job. I contacted a few reno companies however, they either wouldn’t accept the job because it was too small or were overpriced. A colleague mentioned Simpson Built Flooring Solutions and the great work Colin did on their flooring. So decided to contact & meet Colin. After the meeting, it was clear that I would trust my gross basement/reno job to Colin. From estimate through to completion, Colin kept me informed of each step, updated costs (if we agreed to it), provided options and worked hard to complete the project on time. Colin did a great job! I’m extremely happy with my rec room & do not ‘dread’ going down there. It’s comfortable & I’m confident in the quality of work Colin did. “I recently purchased and installed Torlys Everwood vinyl plank flooring in my condo and am extremely happy with this product. I have three pets and so far not one scratch from pet nails and they have been giving it a workout. “We bought an old semi-detached house near High Park. It had wall-to-wall carpet, probably installed in the 80s. We had the carpet ripped up and discovered the original hardwood - face-nailed 3/8" rift and quarter-sawn oak. Unfortunately it was in rough shape - the previous owners had put screws through it trying to get the squeaks out. We brought Bill from Smithwood Floors in for a consultation. Even speaking to him on the phone he already had an idea of what was in the house based on the description and the location - his family has been in this business for a long time. He came to see the floors in person and advised they were too worn down to be refinished well, but the stairs could be sanded and refinished, which was consistent with what others had told us. He gave us an estimate for replacing the floor and it was not cheap! However, he gave us a sensible recommendation for period-correct replacement floor that fit the house's style, with slightly wider planks to modernize the floor without looking out of place. He showed us some samples and it did indeed look much better than the pre-finished floors available at the big box stores. Bill also gave us advice about how to cut costs by removing the existing floor, screwing down the subfloor, and installing the quarter-round ourselves (or hiring someone else to do it), and let his people do what they specialize in. He was happy to do the other work - but he would have to charge more for it than others might. I thought this was professional and gave us options to save some money without compromising on the quality of the finished work. In terms of payment - we paid for the wood after it was delivered to our home, and payment for the work was delivered after the work was done to our satisfaction. The finished result was beautiful site-finished, custom-stained rift and quarter-sawn 3/4" Northern oak in long planks, with 3 coats of polyurethane. It was done in about 1 1/2 weeks. It cost more than going to Home Depot but we think it was worth it.”

“The flooring for our entire house was purchased at and installed by Aristocrat Floors. We couldn't be happier with the product we chose for our main floor kitchen, dining, and living area. It is a vinyl plank wood look-alike flooring made by Karndean from the Art Select collection. Aristocrat Floors was one of the only retailers in the area that carried this product. It has stood up exceptionally well with our two dogs and small child. The follow up service with Aristocrat has been prompt and the staff is always courteous. Their interior designers are extremely helpful and offer their guidance in helping you make your flooring selection. Although I would recommend this company, we were disappointed to find out that the grout in our tile installed by Aristocrat was not sealed. This service is at an extra charge in addition to installation.”
