“After my Air Conditioner backed up and flooded the wood floor in 4 rooms of my house, I contacted Greg Avant of Avant & Avant Construction, Inc., to give me a quote for the much dreaded repair/remodel process. I also contacted 2 other local contractors for quotes. All three quotes were very close in price however, after much conversation with Mr. Avant, we decided to contract the job with him. We had to remove 3 rooms of wood flooring and replaced with porcelain tile, removed the dining room wall and constructed an archway between the dining room and foyer. All work was performed while we continued to live in the house. Mr. Avant was ever mindful the we were continuing to live in the house and assured that during the entire process that all my furniture was covered and gently moved and I never had to empty my China cabinet or curio cabinet. His work was impeccable and completed on time as we agreed. “Dear Jason: When we started construction on our new home, in December 2013, I have to admit I was apprehensive. I had talked with so many naysayers – people who tried to talk me out of building a custom home. People who told me to expect delays, annoyances and disgruntled sub-contractors. And when they learned I was building in Tallahassee, all the way from Atlanta – oh, wow! My mother-in-law practically begged me to move my family to Tallahassee so I could keep a closer watch on the building process, claiming I would need constant oversight to make sure construction was done right. Jason, my experience with White Oak Construction could not be further from what those naysayers described. I have enjoyed every single minute of this project. So much so that I’m a bit nostalgic it’s coming to an end (although excited about finally moving to Tallahassee!). From the very beginning – when you helped design our plan – I knew my home was a priority for you. I truly appreciate your constant availability to answer my questions – at 6 a.m., 11 p.m., and every hour in between. Even though I did not heed my mother-in-law’s advice and stayed in Atlanta, I never felt out of touch. You kept me informed and involved in every detail, big and small, and I thank you for that. I enjoyed working with everyone on the job site. All the sub-contractors seemed happy to be there, happy to answer my questions and happy to offer creative solutions, even if it meant a bit more effort.
