Many builders say there will be no hidden surprises, but the homeowner always seems to wind up spending more than they had planned. Thankfully, our experience with Alair was very different. We spent a lot of time meeting with the Alair team to meticulously hash out what we wanted, combined with what they knew would fit within our budget yet still meet or exceed our expectations. The end result is our gorgeous home, completed within budget, and on time. If any problem cropped up during the construction process (as they do during a build) Alair was on it immediately and it was resolved to our satisfaction. The people we worked with from Alair (Chris, Nick, Colton, etc.) were knowledgeable and hard-working. I have recommended Alair to my friends, and will continue to do so. Chris and his team go above and beyond to make sure everything is done perfectly! We called Chris when we had a mystery, multiple-story leak in our home that several roofers and plumbers couldn't quite find. He came out multiple times to troubleshoot, and when we finally figured out the problem, his team did the sheetrock, insulation, and painting work to take out the damaged materials and replace them. Through the entire (several week) process, they were easy to communicate with, worked with us well, and, most importantly, did an awesome job with the repairs! We would absolutely recommend them, and couldn't have imagined that the process would be so painless!

I tell people the most critical part of building a home is the time spent upfront doing due diligence on the architect and builder. We spent more time interviewing builders and their clients who had used them to build their homes. After narrowing our builder group down, we selected Alair Homes Houston due to the strong recommendation from a trusted friend who had built multiple homes w/ Chris. We really liked the Alair system as it was a transparent and easy for us to keep updated on the status of our build. More than the system, we were very happy and impressed with Chris and Nick not only as a quality builder team, but as high character people. We developed a high level of trust in them and their suggestions of how to design/build aspects that would decrease construction costs without sacrificing quality. Some of the best advice I received about selecting a builder is to choose someone who not only has a strong track record of building quality homes, but also someone who you could envision having a heated discussion with and still want to grab lunch. We never had a heated discussion in our build process and we still meet for lunch.

Alair undertook a complex stucco repair on my home. Initial testing by 3rd party indicated large problems behind stone and stucco. Alair's first step was to conduct their own extensive exploratory work to determine scope of project. The work found areas that had not been identified and also refuted findings in other areas; this step was crucial to overall project success. After the scope was set, they developed a comprehensive plan to remediate the damage and restore the house to "like new" condition. Then, they executed the plan and the result was outstanding. The budget was kept updated, so I knew where we were throughout the project. They were professional throughout, and I would highly recommend them.

The team at Alair Homes Houston built our home in 2014, and repaired it after Hurricane Harvey flooded it in 2017. First and foremost, the team they have is fantastic. Everyone is professional, knowledgeable, and understands the varying needs of their customers. The design and estimation process and the system they use throughout the project to track and manage costs, budgets and timelines is really a game changer. In our case it made keeping track of cost information and invoices needed for insurance claims very easy, but it's also great for overall project management. The finished product is truly one of a kind, both in the fact that its a custom home and in the quality of the workmanship and design of the house, down the to smallest details. We purchased a house from Chris last year, working with him at the tail end of completion. We made quite a few changes and he handled all of them in a timely manner. Chris was a complete professional and made sure every detail was addressed. After closing if there was ever a problem, Chris would make sure it was addressed immediately as well. Unfortunately situations changed and we had to move a year later. During the sale process, the buyer's inspector noted that it was the cleanest inspection he had ever done! My husband and I contracted Christopher Bolio to build our home, and it is one of the best decisions we've ever made. Chris made our home building process incredibly enjoyable and stress-free by his responsiveness and solution-oriented outlook. Chris was always available to us and very present on the job site. He welcomed a high level of involvement on our part, and was very gracious when I sourced lighting and tile myself. Chris is also a great teacher, and patiently explained the details of the building process and the mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems to us in great detail. Most importantly, when things did not go perfectly, Chris was great at figuring out a solution and making everything right. A big part of the fun we had through the home building process was Chris' pleasant and upbeat demeanor. Never did we feel like he was annoyed or stressed. He has a great rapport with his sub-contractors, which produced really high quality work. Chris went above and beyond to make us love our home. When I saw a very unique lighting installation in a commercial setting that I loved, he figured out how to build it from scratch and spent two days in our dining room putting it together. Everyone that comes in our house comments on how different and gorgeous it is. And, incredibly, Chris came in significantly under-budget, even after being the lowest bid we received. We had access to our invoices throughout the process, and were able to adjust based on how we were tracking with the budget. We are thrilled with our home, delighted to have worked with Chris, and highly recommend him to anyone in the market for a custom builder.
