Clark was excellent to work with. He guided us from beginning to end and adjusted to our style and budget. He familiarized himself with our taste and guided us to other professionals that accommodated us. His ideas and suggestions from the architect to all the vendors were spot on. We hired Clark to build a cabin up in Fairplay after meeting with a dozen different builders. Clark is the real deal. Not only did he finish building our house on time; building through the winter and dealing with the property being at 11,000ft, but he delivered it on a level of detail and precision that we couldn’t have imagined. Our designs asked a lot of Clark and the various trades and his experience and relationships allowed him to deliver a truly remarkable home. We are both designers and wanted to build something quite contemporary and simple (which is builder for complicated). Clark and his team have an amazing attention to detail that equaled ours and we never felt like we weren’t being heard or our concerns addressed. We were remote for this whole project and I completely trusted Clark to deliver on our vision. He’s one of the most scrupulous and upright individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with. There’s a reason he’s been in the business so long and every year has a Fourth of July party where all of his formers clients show up.

We were a little nervous about building a house long-distance (we lived in Virginia at the time), but our experience with Apex was so fabulous, we would do it again ... if Apex could build it anywhere in the country! Our home was completed on time and slightly under budget. Clark and Apex gave us complete transparency into the schedule, budget, and cost process. They emailed us photos every month and sent us invoices that included copies of all invoices they paid. They made construction design suggestions and helped us wade through the dozens of decisions that have to made when building a custom home. And even better for us, they negotiated with vendors/suppliers on our behalf to get us the best possible price on many materials and appliances in our home. We have been in our home seven years and love it as much as we did on day one. The quality of their work is so high that we have had no extraordinary expenses aside from normal upkeep. And Apex is so committed to their product that whenever we need to have some maintenance done or want to add or modify something, they are as responsive as the day we signed the building contract. We have remained in touch with Clark and Apex through the years and count them among our Colorado friends. We have the highest regard for Apex Mountain Homes and their entire staff and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to anyone considering building a custom home in the Denver or high country area.

We had the privilege of meeting Clark at a Summit County Parade of Homes in 2005. Soon thereafter, we hired Apex to build our dream home. The finished product exceeded every expectation. This was the first home we ever built new. Hiring Apex Mountain Homes as our general contractor was the best move we ever did. Their knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm was great, we could not have wished for a better team of professionals. Although putting in upgrades of insulation etc, the costs were not skyrocketing due to great prize negotiations.

We purchased a 5 year old house that was built by Clark Johnson of Apex Mountain Homes. After we purchased the home we hired Clark to finish the unfinished portion of the lower level. We took what was already a magnificent home and added some features special to our family. Clark listened to us and designed a plan that met and exceeded all our expectations. The interior work matched perfectly with the existing home. Clark also did some exterior work, including an outdoor patio, fireplace and grill, that added significant value to our home. I engaged Clark Johnson and his team at Apex Mountain Builders to remodel a 2005 spec home that I purchased in late 2012 located in the Three Peaks subdivision of Silverthorne, CO. The setting and structural aspects of the home were beautiful, but the home could truly benefit from a complete update and transformation. The extensive project included adding an exterior deck; replacing front and rear porches; staining the entire outside of the home; tear down of a few interior walls; adding hardwood floors; remodelling bathrooms; adding beamwork; replacing counter-tops; new lighting fixtures; new paint; and many other additions/replacements. Clark orchestrated an amazing team of professionals to diligently work with me; the architects; and interior designers to completely transform my home into a work of art. The job was completed in a timely fashion and within 10% of budget, except for the change orders that I imposed on the project as it evolved. The quality of workmanship was very high and the subs were very respectful throughout the re-model process. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the project and I highly recommend Clark and Apex for any remodel project or for building a home from the ground floor.

Apex Mountain Homes are great builders and very easy to work with. They built a beautiful 7,000 SF+ home for us in Keystone. It was finished in 2003 and we have remained friends ever since. You are never a stranger once meeting and doing business with them. They have a work ethic that is rare these days. Apex has a great crew that is honest and diligent. Apex worked with us during the entire building process to make sure we understood every aspect of the project. They were more than fair with pricing and the very few changes needed due to their close examination of every aspect of the plans. I would not hesitate using them to build another home. We highly recommend Apex to anyone looking to build a home. We would not use any other builder. The very few issues that came up after the job was long finished were swiftly resolved by Apex, most of the time free of charge, even those outside the warranty! You won't go wrong hiring Apex. They stand behind every home they build.

Clark Johnson and Apex Mt Homes were selected by my wife and me from many contractors we knew in the area. Clark has done over 100 projects in the area and we loved the mountain look and the attention to detail as well energy saving methods Clark uses. In addition he brought us very innovative building methods, including Revit and pre-cut framing, yet still totally custom design that saved us 10's of thousands of dollars. The process was fun and creative. What we liked was a home that was grander, warmer in feel, and repeatedly receives comments from guests who say great things about the beauty, livability, great layout, and attention to mountain views. We also particularly appreciated the transparent budgeting and expense tracking system that kept our tension level very low. We moved in a month early, below budget. We would gladly build with Clark and his team again. We also found that the relationship was oriented primarily on what we wanted. The team repeatedly showed great ability at creatively getting us unique solutions and attributes that we wanted without breaking the budget.
