As we were planning our home remodel we reached out to our first choice, Asher Homes. We first met Dustin Brown (leader of the pack), 5 yrs ago because he was involved in building our earth advantage home. At fist, we just wanted to add some space downstairs to add an infrared sauna. After discussing our plans with Dustin, we wound up adding a media/entertianment room, update another large art/creative space and as a bonus add some great seperate storage space. It wasn't an upsale, it was just great advise on the possiblities for maximizing the utility of our improvements along with a strong emphasis on cost efficiency. His team (Taylor, Scott, Sean, Rico) practically became part of our family, they were extremely talented, adaptive, meticlulous, timely and just a great group of personable guys. The final product exceeded our expectations, but not our budget! I can't recomend this team enough!!

Asher Homes built our house and it is everything we dreamed about. We have a small lot and Asher Homes designed a home that is light, spacious, and energy efficient. We would not change a thing.

After speaking with five builders in town, I chose Asher Homes because of their reputation for quality and integrity, because they came highly recommended by a friend whose house they’d just completed, and because of Steve Asher’s expertise, responsiveness, and professionalism, all of which shone through from our very first conversations and throughout the build. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the home that the Asher Homes team built for me. Steve advised on several features that I love and wouldn’t have known about otherwise: the kitchen touch faucet, strategically positioned outlets to uplight plants, awning windows for added ventilation, and more. Steve was also on top of supply chain issues, for example knowing how far out windows were (12 weeks!), so we ordered early rather than experience delays. All of Asher Homes’ subs were great to work with, especially Daniel at Cabinet Pros, Ross at Completely Floored, Larry who did the tile, Osvaldo and Jeong at Northwest Custom Stone, and Scott and Shawn the finish carpenters. The finish work is gorgeous and perfect–clean lines, no gaps, precise, beautiful. It’s a joy wherever my eyes land when I look around the house. The process was smooth: my build only took 5 months, and I appreciated that Vance sequenced the selections of everything in a way that made it doable rather than overwhelming. I was also impressed with the management of the subs—I’m reminded of a well-run airport terminal: one sub would arrive in the morning and tee up whatever was needed for the next sub who’d arrive in the afternoon. There was never an idle day. My experience with Asher Homes exceeded expectations. Steve and later Dustin were terrific and responsive throughout, and I love my new home. I would highly recommend Asher Homes to anyone looking to build a custom home in the valley.

Asher homes brought an incredible amount of knowledge, contacts and experience which helped us build a better house and for less than some of our neighbors. They gave building and design ideas that saved money and made for a better living experience. They helped us chose materials and design elements that minimized some of the harsh local, wind, rain and Sun conditions. We had excellent experiences with all their subcontractors and it was clear that they worked as a cohesive team. I would highly recommend them.

We had a wonderful experience building our home with Steve. He was warm, genuine, very knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with right from the start. He lead us through our design process (no need for an architect!) and never steered us wrong. We would often hem and haw about various details, only to realize that his recommendation was best. He had no agenda of his own and was very attentive to the style of home we were aiming for (a small, cottage-style home with open floor plan and lots of natural light). His decades of experience helped us navigate what was possible from a building standpoint while also keeping in mind the aesthetic we were going for. His main priority was to make sure that we were happy with our build and got exactly what we wanted. He was mindful of our budget and advised us on what to focus on during the build in terms of quality, but also did not cut corners. We ended up being slightly over budget, but that was due to price inflation during the pandemic and our choice in materials. We have been in our home now for two months and just marvel at how beautiful it came out. We love everything about our home, and Steve made it happen. We give him 10 stars and highest praises.

We were very pleased with Asher Homes from start to finish of a very big remodel project for our home. From the first meeting, where they offered their expertise to make the project better, all through the project itself, they were professional, on time, on budget, and easy to work with. They set realistic expectations and let us know if a change in our plans altered those expectations, avoiding confusion and frustration. Any glitches that did happen along the way (there is no way to avoid glitches), where likewise handled professionally. We highly recommend Asher Homes!

Asher Homes and Dustin replaced an old disfunctional bathroom in our 1915 vintage home, and also added closets in two rooms. The work was done over the christmas holidays, not the easiest time to schedule things, and it was done well and in a timely fashion. I would recommend Asher and Dustin to anyone considering rehabbing an old house.

We had a great experience working with Asher Homes for our kitchen and master bath remodel. Everyone was very friendly and professional, and easy to work with and communicate with. The quality of the design input and the workmanship were outstanding. The job was completed on time. Great care was taken to maintain an orderly work site, respect our living space, and meet COVID social distancing requirements. The project management tool that Asher uses allowed us to stay on top of the project every step of the way. This was super helpful so we could make sure that we had made all of the decisions needed to proceed and that everything could be ordered to arrive on time to keep things moving. I can't think of anything negative to say. :-) This is a First Rate Company!! Highly recommended.

Dustin Brown is the best contractor I have ever worked with. He is thorough, kind, smart, fun and doesn't disappear when the project is done. I would recommend him over and over again (and have) to anyone that needs a contractor for just about any home project.

We have worked with Dustin Brown/Asher Homes on two projects and we have had an excellent experience both times. Dustin is transparent and honest, and his bids and bills are thoroughly itemized so you know exactly what to expect and what you’re paying for. He is communicative and organized so there aren’t a bunch of mistakes being made (which is something that happens with a lot of contractors!). He gives realistic timelines and sticks to them. All of the sub contractors did excellent work and we have been very happy with the quality. I am very detail oriented and any little problems I pointed out were fixed right away. Overall we have been SO happy with the process as well as the product. We will be using Asher Homes again and highly recommend them!

Asher Homes restored the entire first floor of my home after extensive water damage. All of the work people were excellent, courteous and pleasant to have in my home. they did a great job in a timely manner. I was lucky to get them to take on this project and I am delighted with the results.

This is the third home that the Asher Team has built for us. They always do an outstanding job. Not only are they committed to quality, they listen and are very responsive to responding quickly to any issues that come up. Although they were significantly over budget on this project, this was do to hillside construction issues, constantly changing city building regulations, and the impact of tariffs on construction materials. We would not hesitate to recommend the entire Asher team.

Every once in awhile you get lucky. A few years ago when we moved to The Rogue Valley to retire and build a house we did not know any building contractors. Our house designer, Ashland Design Solutions, put us in contact with Steve Asher of Asher Homes. After our first long and thorough meeting we knew he was the builder for us. Steve was very easy to work with. His long history in the area as a builder with integrity and honesty was apparent everywhere we went from the lumberyard to the tile store. When asked who was building our house the reply to our answer was always the same - "Oh, he's the best." Asher Homes guided us trough the whole project, involving us at every step that was needed. He was full of enthusiasm, ideas and always willing to listen to ours as well. He worked through problems quickly and with a good sense of design, always considering the whole look of what we were going for. We can't say enough good things about his crews, from the ground up and framing stages to the finish crews to our project coordinator. It was pleasure to have them around - everyone cared and took such obvious pride in their craft and contribution to the end product..Best of all, he built us an absolutely beautiful and unique home that totally reflects the way we want to live.

Steve Asher and his careful, competent, pleasant, and loyal team built my house 9 years ago, when I moved here from the East Coast. The experience was wonderful, and I love my beautiful and substantial home. Several years ago, we converted the deck into a dining room to open up more living space. The renovation was perfect and Steve worked closely with us to make it truly remarkable. Due to circumstances having nothing to do with my house, we are planning to renovate an older home in the neighborhood within the next few months. I wouldn't even consider such a project if Steve wasn't on board. I give him my highest recommendation.

Steve and his team (which were the same consistent workpersons everyday) did an excellent job. I met Steve Asher 6 years ago when I began looking for a a very specific homesite in Ashland to accommodate our one level, close to downtown needs. The realtors and I looked for more than 2 years at prospective homes and lots with Steve volunteering on many occasions to meet us at a prospective property to give his opinion on either remodeling or building on the site. Two years later, when we finally found the perfect location, Steve was there to advise us on its suitability and suggesting building plan ideas according to our needs. Over the course of building our new home, Steve proved to be not only a very experienced builder, but a good designer in his own right. Many a time he came up with solid and creative solutions to some of the trickier problems which surfaced. His background in engineering proved essential in solving our creekside drainage issues and satisfying the city in their requirements. He represented us in a number of evening meetings required for passage of our building plans. Steve is a fine and economical builder who keeps a close eye on the owner's budget. His monthly statements include itemized expenses which are cumulatively compared to the final estimated building costs. This is crucial information in the owners' planning of how to allocate their funds. Steve is extremely knowledgeable in the area of green building practices and standards, building Earth Advantage homes and regularly volunteering his time to teach others and assist them in becoming credentialed in this area. He is a joy to work with---always pleasant and responsive to an owners' questions or needs. His crews, with whom he's worked for many years, are efficient, cheerful and tidy. I highly recommend him to anyone building or remodeling in the Rogue Valley.

Previously I was a builder in Houston, Texas before settling in Ashland, Or. I have found to increase one's financial portfolio real estate investing is essential. Once settled in Ashland I began looking for a reputable builder for new construction and remodeling. Steve has build 4 custom homes and has done a complete remodel over the last 15 years for us. In each case it was his attention to the details, his design vision, clear communication skills and follow through that was most impressive.. When my wife and I moved to Ashland in 2010 we sought a builder who could help us construct an energy efficient passive / active solar home. We were lucky enough to be directed to Steve Asher. At the time of our first meeting with Steve we were still working with another local builder, but were offered some sage advice on regional protocols and standards. When that other builder produced plans and costs that exceeded our budget and threatened to compromise our ability to get a loan, and then declined to negotiate costs, we amicably severed our relation with him and began working with Steve. We are tremendously glad that we did. Throughout the design and construction of our home through 2011-2012 Steve was available to offer the benefit of his great experience and wisdom. On countless occasions during the construction, we found Steve was able to actualize ideas that we had and bring them to fruition under budget. On numerous other occasions, Steve was able to come up with subtle ideas that immeasurably enhanced the home and which also kept it within our budget. We were delighted to discover that so effectively did Steve manage to keep construction within budget that we were able to install our preferred lighting (LEDs) throughout, and, furthermore, incorporate granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms. The final result was a home that exceeded our expectations, and achieved Energy Star Certification and an Earth Advantage Platinum rating for its overall energy efficiency. After three years living in our home, we are as happy now as when we first moved in. We would recommend Steve Asher and Asher Homes to anyone seeking a green energy efficient home. Were we to do it again, we'd be delighted to engage Steve to help us. We would also be delighted to show our home to anyone considering Asher Homes - or considering energy efficient construction. We went to Steve because of his reputation as an ethical, competent businessman who provides exceptional service. We were not disappointed! Our projects required much consultation and planning. My experience with Asher Homes building my house was exceptionally gratifying.Steve Asher is highly experienced in home building and very knowledgeable in building with energy efficiency and green building choices in his work. Steve Asher was able to work with my limited budget and offer ways to be most efficient within the budget parameters. We designed our own home and with engineering studies and Steve's extensive building knowledge we were able to translate the design ideas into the finished space, Steve was easy to work with as the project progressed and completed the work in a timely manner. Steve has built me several homes over the years. the first being when my family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990. With that experience Steve and I became close friends and still are to this day. He is possibly the most knowledgeable builder in the state taking time to stay current with building products, local and state codes, energy rebates, and building green. I have also had the pleaasure of selling building materials to Asher Homes for years and have found them to be easy to communicate with and understanding when there are challenges. Lastly, I had Steve build me a home while I lived out of the area. Not an easy task yet he is the only builder I had the confidence and trust in to do the job. And we came in under budget!
