B & H General Contractors

B&H has done three projects for me, two residential ones for my family and one commercial project for a partnership with the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities (CCAH) and Dance Initiative, an organization I founded in 2009. The first and most significant project was the construction of our house on Missouri Heights in 1999/2000. We had created a recipe for disaster by hiring one architect who resided in Boulder to do the elevations and a different firm to detail the interior. B&H handled the complexity with ease and professional acumen. Our house was completed on time, on budget and with all, but remarkably few, issues resolved to our satisfaction. Two years later we retained B&H to construct a separate structure on our property, near our main house. The two story, about 1,800 foot under roof, structure, had a studio downstairs and a two bedroom apartment on the second level. With due apologies to the profession of Architecture, I, personally, did the drawings. B&H took my "sketches" transferred them to a working permit document and finished the building perfectly. The final project, although I hope not the last, was the renovation of the Gordon Cooper Library in Carbondale, that CCAH and Dance Initiative leased from the Town of Carbondale in 2014. B&H navigated the complexities of dealing with two clients, albeit partners, and finished the project in rapid time, allowing the new entity, now called The Launchpad, to be opened on an aggressive and optimistic schedule. After our first experience with B&H, reaffirmed by each successive engagement, I would feel comfortable assigning to the firm any size project, with confidence that Brad Faber and Hans Raaflaub, the owners and managers, would provide the same level of expertise, diligence and focus to ensure success.

Working with B&H has been a pleasure and this home building experience has exceeded my expectations. I appreciated the dynamics the team had to offer and how each member was skilled in various areas. I was kept up to date throughout the whole process and was extremely pleased with the overall outcome of the entire project. Any changes that needed to be done or questions I had were addressed in a timely fashion. I would definitely use B&H again and personally recommend them to anyone looking to design and build a home.
