“We hired Kip and Modern Habitat in 2015 to gut and rebuild our lower level family and staircase. We were in a rush because the contractor we'd been waiting on for nearly a year didn't come through, and we had invited a houseful of people for Thanksgiving. Kip promised he'd have the space operational, if not fully finished, by Thanksgiving, and he delivered. Kip really listened to our goals for this project, and he offered some great ideas that we were able to incorporate. He was also very respectful of our budget and came up with a couple cost-saving solutions in some areas to allow us to splurge in others. The communication was absolutely first-rate, whether by text, phone, or email; and when Kip said someone would be there on a certain date to do a certain thing, they were there, and the work was done. The crew was respectful of our home, including two dogs and a telecommuter, and they left the workspace clean and safe at the end of each day. A few before/after photos are included with this review. We ended up selling the home the year after this work was done, and we are convinced that this remodel was a major selling point and resulted in an offer above asking price the day it went on the market. We have nothing but the highest regard for Kip and Modern Habitat, will call upon them first for future project, and feel very comfortable in highly recommending.”

“As a commercial construction builder, I knew I needed a builder I could trust, who would treat me fairly and would allow me to be a part of the process. Michael Caraviello was just that partner. When my house plans were finished, I went out to three different contractors to get pricing. All the bids were within 10% of each other and Michael was not the lowest. But, after two hours of going over the estimate, it was clear to me that Michael understood the drawings and most importantly what we wanted. From the initial estimate meeting to the conclusion of the final punchlist item, Michael was there for me when I needed him every step of the way. Our home was finished on time and on budget. Moreover, we were able to make changes to various details of our home because Michael was completely transparent explaining our options and the potential cost implications. Michael answered my questions, no matter how simple and how many times I needed to ask the same one over again. My wife especially appreciated his attention to detail and how patient he was as we thought through some decisions. He also had great design and finish suggestions which resulted in the final house exceeding our expectations. Michael thought through details long before the phase that they were needed. “I have used other contractors in the past and can say that I have never had such a positive experience. The job was enormous- almost a complete house gut and I lived in my home while the work was going on- seven months ! Not Fun! But...... I arrived at the office for an interview with only my own scribbled plans. Jane spent a great deal of time understanding how I lived and then totally resigned my plans to reflect what I actually wanted- with many new and terrific ideas. Jeff and I discussed every change I wanted and what it would cost on a regular basis. There was unbelievable communication. I always received a call back from someone within an hour , even on weekends. The crew is lovely and they spent a lot of time screening off my living areas and cleaning up. Once I even changed my mind about a wall and some electrical work just as they finished it - and they redid it all on the spot - no problem. They have a set crew and I got to know them all. Living with them - they became like family. If I requested a particular carpenter for a particular job- he was sent. If they got behind the schedule , they would work on weekends and evenings to catch up. Mike is great and supervises every small thing. I would really like to thank them all. I especially would like to thank Jesse for all the extra little things he did to make my "life in construction" more comfortable. Reading this , it sounds like they paid me - but I definitely paid them:-) I still call if I think something is "funky" and they are over here right a way to take a look. The completed house is more beautiful than what I imagined and everyone seems to have taken great pride in their work. I would never use anyone else.”
