Cutting Edge Builders

Cutting Edge Builders performed high quality work for our home project. We were pleased with their professionalism, dedication, and attentiveness to the scope of our project. Tom (project manager) was always available when needed. He responded promptly to messages and addressed all concerns that arose. Taking on a project of this magnitude and cost, we wished that CEB’s would have explained more things we didn’t know to ask. For example, the LP siding that was put on the front of the house. We believe CEB could/should have provided us with color samples that LP already came in rather than have us pick a color. We also wish we had a true on site“punch out” inspection with CEB, rather than a text message or phone contact. We are looking forward to the one year on site inspection with CEB staff.

We are VERY happy with Cutting Edge Builders. My Ada home had issues with the way the roof was constructed by the original builder (not Cutting Edge). It made very loud cracking and popping noises during warmer weather, as the roof expanded and contracted with the heat of the day and cooling of the evenings. I hired a Structural Engineer (not Cutting Edge) to inspect it, tell me what was happening, and tell me how to fix it. In mid September of 2019 we hired Cutting Edge to implement the fixes mentioned by the Structural Engineer. It meant installing new rafters and rafter ties for a large section of the house. When all was said and done the roof was rock solid. But alas the cracking and popping noise persisted. This is where Cutting Edge shined. During their work they noticed another peculiarity with the original rafter structure (not addressed by the Structural Engineer). When they fixed this peculiarity, IT RESOLVED THE NOISE PROBLEM! We are soooo happy to be rid of that unnerving cracking that came from the roof on summer evenings! We also had them remove a fireplace and chimney, put in a few new windows, a new hardwood floor, 3 new doors, a new hand rail on the front steps, and interior painting. The whole project was completed about November 1st of 2019. Everything looks great. Cutting Edge provided an estimated cost up front. They gave us a project plan and schedule showing when work would take place. Tom did a great job keeping us informed of any schedule changes. We are keeping Cutting Edge on our list of preferred builders.

Cutting Edge did a very nice job with our remodel and made it fit our existing home perfectly. We changed directions and few times and they rolled with it quite well. Not the lowest cost, but I don't think they're the highest, either. Seem to be a good value overall. We had a few minor setbacks along the way but overall there was good communication and they did a nice job. Easy to work with.

Cutting Edge Builders did an excellent job in designing and building a two room and deck addition to our home. The work was planned meticulously and completed in 87 days -- on time. We love our new space for living and entertaining. As to quality, most people are surprised to learn that it is an addition, so closely does it match the existing house.

Tom and the Builders, Kirk and Jason was great guys.Cutting Edge worked hard,the time turnaround doing my HUGE addition 1500 square feet I feel they did this in record time. We are completely satisfied with our project. Cutting Edge was professional in every way from start to finish. They quickly grasped our thoughts and needs and offered innovative ways to implement and enhance them. The resulting project fulfilled and exceeded our expectations at every step of the process. Our experience with Cutting Edge Builders was absolutely outstanding. We hired them to finish our daylight basement (approx. 800 SF). The project included a family/media area with an integrated entertainment center, a full kitchenette/wet bar, a full bath, and bedroom. Budget and timeline were spot on without a single down day. Quality of their work, especially in design and custom cabinetry, is outstanding and their subcontractors were complete professionals. We will not look elsewhere for any future projects.

We hired Cutting Edge to do a major renovation to our 1955 brick colonial. The project included an open concept kitchen and family room, new master bath, new guest bedroom, covered porch, and more. We were so impressed with their design process; they gave us great ideas and helped us flesh out what we wanted. They delivered a detailed project plan and timeline. Once work started, they executed wonderfully, staying on schedule and on budget. It's a great crew, and our two young boys loved having them around. The results were stunning - we couldn't be more pleased. On time, on budget, with wonderful craftsmanship. We hope to have an opportunity to hire them again.

As a subcontractor who has worked with them on many projects I can say that Cutting Edge Builders are the most Professional and honest builders in the Grand Rapids area. They build exceptional quality homes and they keep to a schedule. They are great to work with from start to finish.

We've used Cutting Edge Builders for 2 different home improvement projects. The first project included the addition of a 20 X 20 Family Room, Large Mudroom, Deck and Woodwork updates throughout the house. i have used Cutting Edge for two projects; a basement finish, and an exterior wall repair. Bids were competitive and the work was very high quality. I was particularly impressed with the painting, tile work and stone work. All workers were polite and respectful. I highly recommend Cutting Edge.

Cutting Edge Builders helped us design a remodel Of our home. The job included adding a foyer and porch Build-out, new roof, new siding, and replacement of Windows. The following year we had them return to Side and roof the garage to match. They were great to work with. They offer outstanding craftsman skills, are always polite and respectful, and stayed within budget. We would recommend them, absolutely.

My wife and I hired Cutting Edge Builders to remodel our Kitchen back in 2011. The project involved removing an existing wall separating the kitchen and living room. This allowed for more room and to install a unique booth style seating arrangement surround by the new granite island. We absolutely love the new kitchen and receive multiple comments from people that our kitchen is not only functional but absolutely beautiful. Cutting Edge Builders brought new life to our house for 5 months in 2013-2014. They took a tired home and transformed it with a unique vision and creativity. The scope of work included a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, a new laundry room, 3 new entrances to the home, a master bathroom, and a master closet, plus many other enhancements. The Cutting Edge team treats its clients with the utmost respect, and made a huge project a pleasant experience.

We hired Cutting Edge Builders to remodel our master bathroom, enclose our stairwell and rough-in our basement with a bathroom, bedroom and living area with laundry closet (framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and drywall). Every sub-contractor was extremely nice and very competent in their job. The project manager kept in touch with us regularly and communicated our needs to the subs. The job is nearing completion and we are very satisfied with all aspects. Highly recommend this company and these professionals. They exhibit honesty and integrity every step of the way.

The Cutting Edge Builders team did a fantastic job of matching the character of our 1933 Tudor home while completely updating our main kitchen and bathroom. They worked with us to ensure the projects turned out exactly as we had pictured them, and were great at suggesting things along the way that made them even better. They truly understood our vision and have an appreciation for the details of craftsmanship. The kitchen project and bathroom project were engaged 1 year apart. Both projects included cleanly removing down to the studs, new plumbing, electrical, windows, cabinets/vanity, insulating, and perfectly refinishing and patching original flooring in the kitchen / new tile flooring.

Cutting Edge designed and built our basement remodel. They started with unfinished space and re-engineered load bearing walls to open it up. We now how have a wet bar, built in TV wall and shelving, a full bath, a wine closet, and space for an air hockey table. In addition, they replaced countertops in our kitchen and replaced our master bath shower. The end result is absolutely beautiful. The workmanship is top notch. As is typical with this type of project, we had some scheduling delays and minor cost overruns, but we are very happy with the finished project.
