“Studio 4C provided architectural design services for 2 separate projects. We were so pleased with the first one, we engage Studio 4C with no hesitation for the second one. Both projects involved complete renovation. The first project also included a separate smaller structure (guest house/office/studio). It was important to keep the design aesthetic, mid-century modern, in the remodel and addition. Perfect execution! The second project was a remodel of a 70's era condo in a mid-rise, and although we did not reposition any major walls, Leigh, principal of Studio 4C, was able to create more usable spaces by adjusting some of the walls for additional storage. In both projects, Leigh's architectural credentials were apparent as space usage, relationships of spaces, and engineering concerns were addressed. Her design experience was particularly helpful in the mid-century modern project. She introduced us to various concepts of that period and helped us stay true which was particularly critical to our enjoyment of the space and re-sale value. In both projects she worked very well and very closely with the general contractors and aided in the selection process of the gc for the first project. She recommended various finishes and surface treatments that enhanced the project. She is informed on and practices ecologically sound decisions for selections. And she presents options to consider, including advantages and disadvantages of each. Every cost overrun was the owner's decision choosing a more costly option for aesthetics or convenience. Her design experience was also helpful in color selections, furnishings, and window treatments. Working with a firm that provides both architectural and design functions provided a cleaner, clearer communication process for owner and contractor. Her site management skills also kept the project moving, and although the gc's in both cases were very good, her attention to the details provided confidence that there would be no regrets in the end. Both projects are wonderful examples of livable, functional and beautiful space.”
