We were so impressed with Derby's $1.2m Disney castle on a hill we saw on a custom homes how we asked if he could finish our basement. The other vendor in town who promotes heavily was booked out several months and charged about the same when Derby offered to make it look like his show homes and include redoing the old bedroom which wasn't up to his spec. He moved furniture out of the basement and threw in entertainment wall, and worked with last minute changes that made bonus room like a master bedroom with bath access, french doors and walk-in closet and upgraded to tile shower. His workers shored up the floor properly to cut own two windows for the dark basement. He uses Amish cabinet makers. Instead of his own showroom, he took us to each of his suppliers. We got to pick the actual block of granite. His competitor brags about precise project management and we fumbled a bit on our side as well, so I took off one star because it took 6 months to July rather than estimated 3 months and you have stay on top of little things like being sure the bar sink is included. (made to order Amish cabinets took longer) But cost was pretty much within original plus adding things like helping fix our master bath sink and foam insulation which won't mold. The other guy's commitment to schedule would not have let us put in the changes we threw in when the bonus room was just a giant closet. If you want to work with an artist, I think we got a cooler basement in the end.

Quality craftsmanship. Good staff to work with. Very accomodating to your needs and changes as things progress. We are very happy with our remodel!

Creative, and exceptional at details. Dave was great at making creating and making the needed changes to our house plan.... Turned out exactly as we dreamed.

We hired this contractor to do bath and kitchen remodeling. Dave Derby and his crew and contractors were professional in every way, answered any questions we had promptly, cleaned up after themselves everyday, and finished the projects to our liking in a timely manner. We love our updated bathrooms and kitchen, We have no hesitation in recommending Derby Construction to others.

Build and subs were of great quality but General Contractor did not do his job. Very poor communication. Refused to answer emails, phone calls or voicemails. VERY SLOW, left the build sit for weeks without ever visiting it or getting any work done. In good conscience, CANNOT recommend hiring this company.
