Nightingale Co.

“Hire Nightingale. This is the company you want to do your home renovation and can trust with your investment. We could tell the difference from the initial consultation and walkthrough. We bought a 1950’s mid-century home, but we needed to bring a lot of the home up to the times, so we worked with Nightingale to do a whole-house renovation. Our desire to maintain the original character of the house and emphasize some of its original beauty was embraced and supported by Nightingale. Everyone in the company is thoughtful and considerate. Alan Kraus is perfect at his job – he was detailed, patient, and thorough in helping us get on-boarded to Nightingale’s process and throughout the procurement process. He helped us feel confident in starting the process out by answering our questions, we had so many questions, and being available for any and every question/discussion point during the entire renovation. Claire Rowland is the only person in the world who you want doing your CAD drawings and laying out the specifications of your renovations. And she was so sweet to work with. Our confidence in the company remained through demolition, framing, drywall, flooring and tile, millwork, paint, countertops, and punch list. The whole process. And this was in large part due to the work and relationship we built with our project manager, Jourdan Robles. She’s a no-nonsense, get things done worker. She was clear in her communication, rapid with her responses, doesn’t shy away from having an actual phone or in-person conversation, nor in communicating un-expected items that arose on the job, which were always accompanied by a few options for resolution for us to consider. Nightingale always showed up, consistently, working hard and attentive always. The organization of all the details project and coordination of the many, many subcontracts was run seamlessly, which was all work that Jourdan did behind the scenes. We’d be remiss to not also call out the talent of Dustin Zentz and Joe Mullas in their millwork in our home – they built us the most beautiful, floor-to-ceiling, walnut wall with flawless hidden doors. Everyone on their team goes above and beyond your expectations – people showed up, people worked and completed their jobs, people communicated, and more – people did small things that made ALL the difference. Whereas some general contractors might say “oh, no one will notice this little xzy detail that isn’t perfect”.. Nightingale re-did work to ensure it was done with the highest quality. A couple examples – our very large, and very heavy kitchen island was placed a couple inches off from the drawings; we didn’t find out until it had already been moved to the correct place. A couple inches! Our freshly re-finished hardwood floors had small spots of stripper dropped on it and instead of leaving the small, barely noticeable spots (which would be covered by our kitchen table), the floors were re-done to perfection. We kept our original sub-zero refrigerator, despite the slightly finicky freezer door, to come to see the kitchen progress one day and learn that Joe fixed our freezer door for us. So, long story short, feel free to get quotes from other general contractors, but hire Nightingale to take care of your home.”

“I approached Meadowlark with the need for a significant renovation to transform a poorly laid out bathroom/spa into a safe, first floor accessible bathroom suite for an elderly client/friend following a fall and broken hip. I laid out an aggressive goal of compressing the design/build schedule as my friend would need to remain in a rehab center while the project was completed. The following business day Meadowlark’s President Melissa Kennedy met me on site and brought their head of construction, and project manager ready to get to work. (I was impressed). I provided them with a clear scope of work and challenged them on how much they could compress the schedule as we needed the project finished yesterday. Eight weeks later we brought my friend home from rehab to a much safer, redesigned home. The eight weeks included both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. At the top of the list of Meadowlark’s strengths are their people and leadership, and willingness to challenge themselves. Most contractors would have politely explained that my goals were unachievable. Second would be their handling of inevitable issues that arise in any remodeling project. I can’t say enough about Sarah Petersen, our Project Manager, who was key. A firm is only as good as their employees and pool of contractors, especially in our circumstances, and Meadowlark has a pool of high quality contractors. As we neared the completion concerns arose about everything being ready for a safe return home, and Melissa and Sarah met me onsite on a Sunday morning to review remaining work. The relationships Meadowlark has with their contractors became clear by how contractors responded to insure final details were completed. Meadowlark was also able to include refinishing the home’s wood floors and incorporate a new powder room and laundry facilities to the project scope without delaying the schedule. Due to the circumstances the project was structured on a time and materials basis. There are few contractors I would trust with this arrangement on something this size. While transparency could have been improved I am satisfied with the resulting total costs and Meadowlark deserved every penny of the margin earned on this project. Overall A+.”

“Johnathan oversaw the build on our new home and we just love it! We had so many custom additions and he was happy to make our vision a reality. It was a great experience for my husband and I. We would definitely recommend working with Johnathan and his team.”
