Silva Custom Construction, Inc.

Silva Custom Construction renovated our kitchen in 2022. After putting the kitchen through many meals and messes, rambunctious kids and Thanksgiving dinners, I can wholeheartedly say that SCC does a quality installation and a beautiful finished job. Jim was great to work with during the installation phase and was on site or available every day--we appreciated his expertise and responsiveness. Thanks to the entire crew for bringing our dream kitchen to life!

We had a pretty extensive project (3 rooms) that I think was a bit more complicated than the standard projects you see on Silva's page, mainly because the spaces are so small so there was not much margin for error (compared to the giant kitchens or master baths you see with plenty of empty space). Despite this, Shannon and Jim did a great job planning everything and working with us to make sure we were ok with placement of outlets, plumbing, etc. and making modifications when necessary. When it came time to do the trim/wainscoting, Sean even came out himself and stenciled the layout on the wall based on our input. I also want to recognize the excellent work of Chino, Luis, and Gonzalo, who then installed all the paneling/wainscoting, new doors, and trim: because they don't sub-contract their trim/carpentry work, I think these guys are pretty oversubscribed, and they even came in on Saturdays to get the job finished as quickly as possible, which we appreciated. Another thing I appreciate was the willingness to accept so many change orders beyond the original scope of the project. Since all the walls were ripped open we decided it would be best to move our furnace to the attic, reroute some gas lines etc., convert the original furnace location to a closet, and Silva was able to accommodate. I also appreciated that Jim diligently went through my "finishing up the project to-do list" and made sure every little detail was taken care of. The only minor criticism I have is that the work areas could have been kept a lot cleaner. I think the problem is that Jim had a new assistant who was supposed to sweep up every day, collect trash, etc. but it just didn't happen. As one example, there was plastic put up to protect one section of the house from dust. It fell down at one point and wasn't put back up, so there was quite some cleaning we had to do after the project concluded. I know Jim would have resolved this if I bugged him about it every day, but I know he was super busy with many other projects and didn't have time to babysit somebody. But, again, this is a pretty minor, if annoying issue, and I know with any construction project it's hard to always keep the workspace clean. The bottom line is that Silva provides quality work and can execute even the most complex jobs reliably. I would use them again.

We had our second project with Silva last summer, and while there were supply chain delays with some materials they made it right in the end. Very professional team to deal with.

These guys were great. They made some extremely difficult seeming concepts look easy when it came time to execute. They do excellent work, and there was a custom aspect at every turn.

We've used Silva Construction on several projects over the past 12 years that we've lived in Morgan Hill. My first experience with Sean and his crew was a bathroom remodel for the church we were attending and for which I managed facilities, and they did an incredible job on time and on budget. They were very helpful in the design phase helping us to accomplish our vision while saving costs. I was so impressed that I hired them to build a pergola over an outdoor kitchen at our home, and again they did an excellent job, and we consistently receive compliments on that structure and space. Our latest project with Silva Construction was to repair some dry-rot on our exterior siding, open up our front porches, and paint the entire exterior. Once again, they exceeded our expectations. They have excellent communication, do what they say they'll do, and have been a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend them!

Our project was to remodel the two bathrooms in our home. I’d say the remodels were high-end, bathrooms were small, but were very nicely done. We did one bath at a time, so we always had the use a bathroom. Silva Construction did a GREAT job and always kept in tune to what was going on, The staff and subs were just the best, we were very happy with the outcome.

This company is amazing - honest, fair, transparent, and collaborative. I loved working with literally everyone - all the subs, all the project managers, everyone. One of my favorite memories was towards the end of the project. I had a long project, a big reno. We'd been living through construction for months and it was towards the end of the job. My husband was traveling for work, my own job was rough - lots of hours/stress. And then one day I walked into my house and the Silva team had finished. They put back all my furniture - even the heavy stuff - and it was perfect. No detail was left unattended, quality was top notch. "Seeing" the finished product for the first time, with all the extra effort of putting things back... Silva will have my business for life for how I felt in that one moment. I'm lucky I found them and am already thinking about whats next.

Silvia’s team was outstanding after an insulation vendor broke a water pipe in our attic. Jim and Joe provided daily updates and maintained work schedules that addressed our needs and concerns. An excellent job by Silva Construction and their vendors, always on time and outstanding workmanship.

Thank you to Sean, Jim, Shannon and the entire Silva team. Our master bathroom came out wonderful. From the Design Phase to the last step of installing the glass shower door, the team had great communication throughout the process, including the sub-contractors as well. Everyone was very professional and respectful. Also, all workers were very talented. All questions or concerns were resolved in a timely manner in-person or via email/phone. Each day the team showed up on-time in the morning and left the house in clean shape. The project was only a month behind schedule with a tight timeline during the holidays. My one recommendation is that they improve their payment process. One of my checks ($18k) was lost and I had to get my bank involved. Overall, we’re very happy with the end product and we’d like to thank the entire Silva team! Job well done!

We had a great experience with our remodel done by Silva Custom Construction. Our new spaces are spectacularly beautiful and turned out just as we had hoped - only better. Sean and Jason and all of the team and contractors were so great to work with. Our project was completed in phases, and each phase was on schedule. Sean was careful to make our project turned out just as we wanted it. The team was very patient with us when we added some work nearing the end of the project. Sean and his team showed great attention to detail. We highly recommend them.

I think the best recommendation I can give to Sean Silva and his crew of Silva Custom Construction is that I will be using them again - my project went very smooth - yes we had a few challenges as expected but all were taken care of. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how everything came out! I actually had estimates from 4 different contractors and the main reason that I had SCC do my job is that I felt comfortable with Sean & his project manager Jim Wright. I wanted a company that was able to complete the job without having to rely on too many sub-contractors - Seans people did just that. The SCC crew was very professional and very respectful of my property. The project went according to schedule and was finished in a timely manner. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone might have on whether or not to hire Silva Custom Construction - YES do it without hesitation!
