Spire went above and beyond our expectations when they built our outside living space including a spectacular cabana which has become a centerpiece for our outdoor entertainment and family gatherings. In addition Spire made extensive infrastructure improvements to our existing house and property with very little infringement on our daily family life. I had the pleasure of working with Spire Builders after our architect suggested I speak with them regarding a potential addition to our home. The first thing I noticed about Steve and Peter was their thoroughness and attention to detail. Those two attributes were reflected in the proposal we received and was critical in helping us decide on whether or not to proceed with our project. After deliberating for a number of months on the value of completing the addition or moving from our current home, we decided to move ahead with the addition and contacted Spire only to find out that they had taken on a significant number of new projects. Rather than compromise the quality of their work or the client experience, they politely declined the work, knowing that they would have difficulty meeting our building time requirements. Their honesty and willingness to walk away from a project because it was not in the client's best interest was a good indication of their business ethics. While Spire has adopted a modern approach to building homes, its seems as if they have remained focused on the old fashioned values of good communication and focusing on the client.

We recently completed a complicated renovation project with Spire Builders. Steve Minton was great to work with. As architects we appreciate his excellent communication skills which are so important in a renovation project. He made a priority of coordinating between builder/client/architect/landscape architect. His attention to detail is commendable. He would call with specific questions about trim details to make sure everything was just the way we intended it, with fantastic results. Working with Spire made a complicated project run smoothly for all involved.

We have had the pleasure of working with Spire Builders on several sophisticated projects requiring precise timber frame design and fabrication. Spire Builder’s dedication to the client and their commitment to the highest level of finished results allowed us the time to plan every detail through before making our first cut. We engaged Spire Builders to build us a custom home, and Pete Jonak was an invaluable and trusted guide and advisor to us through every step of the process, from tear down of the existing home, to site planning, architectural plan reviews and revisions, dealing with Conservation District and permitting issues, working with subcontractors and other vendors, etc. Pete was reliable, honest and responsive. He earned our complete trust, and maintains it to this day. Part of the reason for that is Pete's approach to the challenges and issues that crop up along the way, and the inevitable "punch list" items at the end. We never had to chase down answers, and we always had clarity on the schedule for getting issues addressed. And most importantly, we couldn't be happier with the finished product! The house and all its finishing touches exceed our (high) expectations, and several years later we still marvel at the quality of the workmanship. While we have no intentions of moving, if we were to do another big project, Pete and Spire would get our first (and only) call to be the project lead.

We had a fabulous experience working with Pete when he was the superintendent from Parec Homes who managed the building of our home. Since then he started his own company, Spire Builders, and we have continued to use him both for maintenance and new projects at our home. As an interior designer I had the opportunity to work alongside Pete Jonak as he managed new home building projects and significant renovations. I admired his skill and work ethic and the ease with which he interacted with the homeowner as well as sub contractors. When my husband and I decided to build a new home of our own, Pete was about to launch his own business, Spire Builders. I knew that he would be the person to build our dream home. Spire Builders was extremely thorough as together we ascertained the cost to build. Pete asked detailed questions regarding the materials we intended to use, the appliances we were considering, the level of millwork detail, etc to determine a build budget. This is a valuable step that is often not taken by other builders. A common approach is to assign basic selections to determine the cost to build, which rarely represents the homeowner’s desires and therefore results in an unrealistic budget. At the end of our project, our real costs were 1 ½% under budget. As a creative person I frequently would approach Pete with design ideas and ask if it could be done. Never did he say ‘No’. Nothing was too complicated or too much effort. Pete was positive and professional at all times, and we truly became friends through the process. The subcontractors that Pete brought into our project were skilled, hard working, and respectful. The construction site was kept clean and safe at all times so much so that we frequently had cocktails and dinner with friends in the house as it was under construction! We have been living in our home now for almost five years. Barely a day goes by that I don’t reflect on a detail or element in our home and feel grateful for the wonderful team that executed our vision. I simply cannot recommend Spire Builders highly enough!
