When my husband and I bought our house we knew we wanted to do a renovation. After years of plotting and planning Sterling Construction made our dream a reality. We can’t thank Stephen and his team enough. Every worker that came through the door was skilled, knowledgeable and kind. Renee was so helpful throughout the entire process. We did 2 extensions, kitchen, dining room and powder room.

Stephen and his team were very professional from start to finish. As first time home owners, we were a bit nervous to do our first project in the house but Stephen gave us a lot of confidence and insight into the project based off of his previous experiences working in similar homes. We asked Stephen to create a breakfast bar/pass through from the kitchen to the living room as well as replacing carpet with hardwood floors in the living room. In addition Stephen and his team removed a work desk area from the kitchen and created a new counter space with new shelving underneath. His team knew how to navigate any challenges that came up throughout the project and went the extra mile to get the project done in the most efficient and budget friendly manner. Renee and the office staff were in constant communication with us throughout and were very accommodating to us and our schedules. The finished project went above and beyond our expectations, we are extremely happy with the end result and are already planning our next job with Sterling. Highly recommend Stephen and his team to anyone on Long Island looking to start a new project in their home!

We have worked with several contractors over the 20+ years that we are living in our home, but were never satisfied until we engaged the services of Sterling Construction. They are experienced and knowledgable, and their quality craftsmanship is impeccable. They are kind, caring individuals, from Renee in the office to Stephen, the owner, as well as the rest of their team. Their attention to detail is unmatched. You would think that they were working on their own home with the level of perfection they strive to achieve in each job, no matter how small. What more could you ask for in a contractor? We were very pleased with Sterling Construction company repairing the four dormers on our roof, front and back of the house. The wood had rotted over the years and needed to be totally replaced with Azek material. Stephen gave us a thorough explanation of what needed to be done and to prevent any problems in the future. The crew was prompt, very skilled and courteous. They completed the job in the time frame that we were told. The craftsmanship is beautiful and really renewed the look of our home! We are extremely pleased and satisfied with Sterling Construction’s services.

We are so grateful to have had such a wonderful, trustworthy, talented team make our house into our dream home. They took a stressful time and made it so much easier by guiding us through all the details. Every worker that walked into our home was considerate, clean nd talented. Joe and his team have been an absolute pleasure. we had initially hired a different contractor who left us high and dry and Sterling came in to save the day! they were dependable, creative and open minded. we couldn't throw them a curve ball they couldn't handle. professional and reliable! we highly recommend this team!

We were very impressed with Steven and Joe Martinico interest in trying to save us costs here and there with our massive renovation of our original 1954 split level. The renovation included 2 bathroom remodels, remodeling and extending the kitchen while creating a new foundation room under the kitchen. Moving and creating a bathroom on the ground level which required rerouting of plumbing pipes below the slab along with the new adjacent laundry room. Changing the ceiling height of the living room to match the high ceilings of the new kitchen. Extending the TV room with access to backyard patio. Conversion from oil to gas, new HVAC system and boiler. New windows, roof and siding which consists of hardboard and natural stone.

We hired Steve and his crew from Sterling Construction to completely gut our entire first floor; new kitchen, dining, living room, A/C, electrical, flooring, lighting, windows, doors, and fireplace redesign. Steve is a consummate professional. He listened to what we wanted, offered us some fantastic ideas, and never batted and eye with a change in the scope of work if we requested anything additional. He and his crew were respectful of our home, courteous, very punctual in starting everyday, and most of all, are skilled craftsmen. They do things right! Quality work that shows! To summarize, we are thrilled with their work and would not hesitate to hire Sterling Construction again for any additional work. We highly recommend Sterling Construction.

Sterling Construction staged an epic performance in the complete remodeling of my master bathroom. It was a high end project as the entire plumbing footprint was altered, the ceiling was pitched to a cathedral style and the design was punctuated with precision installation of marble walls and floors. Steve understood what I was hoping to achieve in the existing space, offered great suggestions and proceeded to deliver on every detail that we agreed to. The professional crew was respectful of my house with their attention to neatness. This bathroom turned out nicer than any 5 star hotel bathroom that I have stayed in. It feels like a retreat in my own house. I can't say enough great things about working with Steve. Naturally, with a project of this nature, curve balls were thrown in the mix, but Steve stepped to the plate and consistently got the job done without stress and drama. I look forward to doing another project with Sterling.

We hired Steve and the Sterling Construction team do do a master bedroom addition/renovation and whole exterior renovation. From the start of the project, Steve's team were extremely professional and there work was exceptional. When issues came up, Steve and his guys were very responsive and communicative. We would highly recommend Sterling for projects, small and large.

We hired Steve and his crew to build us a large mudroom, great room and full bathroom. The project was delivered on time and on budget and the final product far exceeded our original vision. The craftsmanship was tremendous, the team was courteous and always cleaned up the site. Part of our challenge was in making the addition look like it was always there (on a 100 year old house). Steve seamlessly integrated the new work with the original house and everyone comments on how it looks like it was always there. Additionally, the detail work came out beautifully. We have vaulted ceilings, aged beams, fine glass tiles in the bathroom and a locker system for the built in that rivals any we have seen on Houzz. Best of all, we trust Steve and he never let us down. Great work!

My 1942 floor to ceiling pink-tiled bathroom was transformed into a spa-like work of art. I still can't believe it's my bathroom! Sterling Construction (Steve) was a pleasure to work with. Sterling Construction is knowledgeable, talented, has great attention to detail and does meticulous work. I can't say enough positive things about them and their wonderful work. I would most definitely use them again and have already recommended them to a friend.

Sterling Construction provided a comprehensive renovation of my office. This included replacing the siding and redoing the interior office space as well. The work crew was professional, respectful, and thorough. I continue to get compliments on the work that they have done.

I hired Joe Martinico to build my home on the North Shore. It was a dificult and extremely complex custom home build from the foundation on up. Joe was a gentleman from beginning to end. His pricing was competitive--he never made us feel that he was trying to upsell us or change the deal once we committed. And when we changed things that reduced cost, he gave us credit without having to ask or haggle for it. His crew is great and they worked tirelessly to get the project done. In addition, the fact that he has his own crew of 5 or 6 guys means a lot things get done quickly and efficiently wihout having to involve sub-contractors at every stage for basic construction issues. At the end of the day, my wife and I were grateful for not having a typical general contractor experience. We've hired Joe for two additional projects since the house was built.

Hired Steve Martinico of Sterling Construction for our complete kitchen renovation in June 2014. From our first interview with Steve we were very impressed with him. We interviewed several other companies and Steve's knowledge, ideas and attention to details far exceeded the other contractors we interviewed. From the beginning of the renovation through the completion all aspects went completely smooth and without a hitch. He responds immediately to phone calls and is always available for any questions. Working with his entire staff was absolutely a pleasure. Our kitchen is not only gorgeous but is so well constructed. We couldnt be happier. We are planning on using Sterling Construction for all our home projects.

I hired Sterling Construction to add a family room onto my home. In addition to a flawless (yes, I said FLAWLESS) job, Steve was professional (as were all of his employees), attentive, creative, and responsive. I interviewed a number of contractors before selecting Sterling. The first thing that set Sterling apart was ALWAYS getting a quick response; always a call back, never missed an appointment, always on time. The quality of work was unparalleled. Some contractors low ball you and then come up with various hidden or "unexpected' costs. One of the marks of a true professional with years of experience is the ability to give a fair and accurate estimate. This is why I went with Sterling. This is my experience with Sterling. It may sound "over the top" but this contractor deserves all this praise and more. We are so quick to complain, but when someone does an outstanding job for you, you should take the time to sing their praises!

If you use Sterling, you are going to get quality work, done neatly and completely and at a fair price. Steven and Joey have had the same crew for the 12 years I have been using them which says a lot. They have done everything in my house from installing floors, windows and appliances, refinishing cabinets, matching existing floors, finishing an entire basement, skylights etc. Steven is a master carpenter and has built us a custom pergola and a custom set of dresser drawers in my sons room. Next, they are going to do our siding and a new roof. You guys are awesome !

My commercial building, on the north shore of Long Island, was significantly damaged during Hurricane Sandy. I had a real mess on my hands. To address this challange, I hired Sterling Construction. Working under difficult conditions,Sterling Construction did a remarkable job of repairing the damage that was done. During the entire project, Sterling demonstrated remarkable creativity and a commitment to excellence. All at a fair price!! I am a completely satified client. If your construction needs are challenging, I would not hesitate to recommend Sterling Construction to meet that challenge.

Our son moved home unexpectedly after college, a job and a road trip. Steve of Sterling Construction was recommended as someone who could get the job done and quickly without compromising quality. This was very true. In just a week the basement was turned into two rooms , a bedroom and a living space. A new floor was down. Walls went up. Paint etc. The bathroom was completed within a month of our choosing materials. It all was done beautifully. As a homeowner who has done many renovations over the last 20 years, I will stay with Steve. He not only gets the job done well, but all the people who work for him are polite and professional. And at times when we needed furniture to fit a tight spot Steve built it! As projects come up we always call Steve.

Sterling Construction was referred to us in 2008, by Architect James Keller, to build a portico over our front porch. Since our first project with Sterling we have collaborated closely with Steve and his team on numerous other projects over the years (our house is 30+ yrs old, and always needs something). Projects have included: building porch portico, upgrading porch and entry way, adding and replacing windows and doors, upgrading hardwood floors, replacing old roof line and outside cedar siding, removal of 4 sky lights (installed by a prior owner), and most recently (2013) reconstruction of 3 decks using advanced composite material. Steve and his team (which, have been with Sterling a long time) are extremely conscientious, trustworthy, have a great work ethic... paying close attention to the details. Crews always arrive on time, at the end of the day the work area is spotless, and expected deadlines are met. Steve has always made himself available and is regularly on site inspecting the work and progress of his crew. He is very responsive to our needs, and a great listener providing value added ideas and suggestions. We have high standards and expectations, which Sterling Construction has met on every project. Sterling Constuction is our go to contractor/company. We wish we would have found them prior to 2008!

This is the third time we've used Sterling so I'm going to combine the review. In 2012, we had Sterling perform a major renovation on a good part of our home including kitchen, living room, wash room, pool bath, bedroom and basement. Their quality of work was truly outstanding and the team was professional and very respectful of my home and my family. We loved their design and our kitchen is still a highlight when new friends come over. From that experience, we asked Sterling to redo our master bath as well as our kids' bathroom. They also had a new roof put on our house (it was 25 years old). What I like about Sterling is that they continually go above and beyond. We worked with Steve, a perfectionist with a terrifically creative design side. He comes up with ideas to maximize space and efficiency all with an incredibly elegant flair. In the end, details really do matter. Our master bath is more open now and includes every thing we wanted. Our kids' bathroom always felt cramped and Steve found a way to create extra space and make that room special for everyone including guests. The thing about home construction is that the people involved are in your house for an extended period of time. It's also disruptive. You have to trust people you let into your lives in that way. The Sterling team has always been prompt and professional and I can't say that about other companies we've worked with in the past. Every member of their team is hard working and courteous. Oh and by the way, the project was perfectly on budget!! We highly recommend them.

Steve and his team did a lot of construction both inside and outside my home and we were extremely pleased with everything they built. Steve is a master craftsman....a true perfectionist and a very talented artist. His work is absolutely beautiful to look at and the attention to every detail no matter how big or small is never overlooked. I felt completely safe leaving Steve and his crew alone in my home and they cleaned up everyday before they left and always arrived on time. His coworkers are professional honest hardworking men. I am completely and 100 percent comfortable recommending Sterling Construction... Just as I always thank the friend who passed his info to me.. Steve and the team at Sterling Construction are awesome. We did a huge renovation that most homeowners would be hesitant to do without an architect. Steve has all the design and installation knowledge anyone could hope for. From demolition to finish carpentry, his teams are great. The work was neat, timely and above all done to the highest standards. Having Steve on the job everyday gave us the confidence and assurance that our project would be completed as contracted. We were able to make some design changes during the job that only enhanced the beauty of our whole house renovation. You'd be hard pressed to find another GC that would do that.
