I knew of Wardell's good reputation for years here in San Diego. I finally got a chance to work with them on a small but very complex Historic Renovation. Terry Wardell has an unshakeable commitment to quality but also keeps quality people around him and working for him. That is the key to having a project come together to achieve my vision as the designer but more importantly, the Owners' vision. Even though small, this project won a Home of the Year Award from San Diego Home/ Garden due to the excellent oversight and craftsmanship of Wardell Builders

I'm designing a project that Wardell Builders is currently constructing. They have been an absolute pleasure to work with, always punctual, detail oriented, and client focussed. They value customer service. It's a whole house renovation, we are creating a beautiful new home that will focus on the gorgeous view of this property. This is the third house we have built with Wardell. What a joy! Budgets and time expectations were within very acceptable parameters. The on site superintendent has a work ethic that is exemplary. What a guy. His attention to detail and commitment to the job at hand is incredible. Overall, they are a very fine construction company to work with.

My kitchen light switches needed replacing. I spoke with Jill at Wardell's office, she made arrangements to have Matt come out to take care of the problem. He was on time for the appointment, took off his shoes before coming in so as not to track in dirt and grass clippings from my front walk and replaced the defective switches. The management staff at 939 Coast Management Association (a 21-story high rise condo building) have had very positive experiences with Wardell Builders and are pleased to share our experience with those considering remodel projects both interior and exterior. 939 Coast Management would like to express its appreciation for the dedicated efforts, craftsmanship, and attention to detail during the construction of our common are hallway renovations and renovations to our exterior common areas (large patio/garden area and 939's pool and spa area). We feel that the high caliber management team and subcontractors assembled by Wardell Builders was instrumental in the quality of the finished products. Their staff is always responsive to management and homeowner needs and concerns (dust, noise and access considerations) as well as working requirements of the Homeowners Association. The finished projects are both functional and well crafted, showing a high level of finish work. Our projects have been completed on schedule with very few change orders. As expected by their reputation, Wardell Builders execute the construction with impeccable craftsmanship. What is unique about this company, is that they seem to immediately understand the underlying concepts and intent of the design, and identify opportunities in detailing to achieve those goals. Their extensive research into materials, methods, and new technologies is impressive as well as rare in the industry.

Terry and his crew have been building our houses for decades and have never turned in less than a perfect performance. I know that is an unusual thing for an Architect to say, but Terry is an unusual builder. More than just passionate and competent, he is a true student of the art and science of construction. All contractors could learn from his scheduling techniques. Our architectural fees actually go down when Wardell is on the job. We simple do not need to spend as much time detailing or visiting the site to achieve quality. The secret to Terry’s success is that he is always (and I mean always) one step ahead. I am a structural engineer who has worked with Wardell Builders on many projects over the last 10 years. Wardell has always been extremely quality conscious and has always worked to get the small "hidden" details right. As an architect I enjoyed working with this excellent General Contractor. First worked with them about 16 years ago and recently worked with them on a high-end custom home located on the oceanfront in La Jolla, California. The project was very challenging from a construction standpoint with a lot of floor to ceiling glass, and with details and finishes that had very tight tolerances. They delivered the product that we were looking for. This contractor brings a lot to the table with their proactive approach and years of experience that allows your project come out as you designed.
