Carolyn exceeded my expectations with the redesign of my first floor, including the flooring, kitchen, family room, fireplace, staircase, and powder room. She is a joy to work with. She listened to my ideas and what I liked, but came up with options I never would have thought about on my own. She has a great eye for color and pulling a room together. Our house in Saint Charles was built in 2003 so we felt we were long overdue for some updates. We were looking to go from cherry-stained oak floors & cabinets throughout the house, but were very nervous to pick the wrong colors & really didn’t know what other improvements would be the best way to go within our budget. That’s when we called Carolyn. First, we loved how she responded so quickly and then came by with large samples of paint, floor stains, backsplash tiles and countertop samples. To have the professional samples in our space made things so much easier, along with her guidance, not to mention her patience! While we were working together, she asked to see pictures of what we liked & then tried to recreate the essence of the pics while still working w/ our furniture, paint colors on the walls & trim colors - since they weren’t going to be changing. This was no easy task! She is a true color specialist - knowing how all of the undertones work and how different light bulbs affect the appearance of paint as well as how natural light affects it - not to mention all of the different sheen options & what to use where. Carolyn had answers for everything! She was so kind with her mannerisms, so detail oriented & concise with her instructions. She also had great referrals for tradesmen and always responded to my texts & calls right away. As we were working together, I started following her on IG and she has an awesome profile! We recently purchased a home built in 1989 that had all of its original everything. Same light fixtures, carpeting and wall colors. Carolyn design elements were very considerate of our budget and our goals for use of the house. We wanted it to feel brighter and newer with a bit of an organic feel. She listened and then made selections for and with us. She selected wood floors, paint colors, carpeting, light fixtures, vanities and later the furniture rugs and art placement to pull our spaces together. We are loving the new look and feel and would still be stuck making decisions if it wasn’t for her wise design selections.

Carolyn from Style It Home was an absolute pleasure to work with! She’s kind, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about current trends and traditional styling.
