“Amelia Bennett of White Silo has made a positive difference for us in two projects. After 20+ years of having no real design plan in our beach house, she put together a plan that finally pulls the mismatched decor into a unified look. She did this within our small budget with window treatments and sofas that matched other furnishings and left us with a blueprint we can use going forward. When we started building a new home in Manteo, she was with us from the beginning using her construction/structural expertise to review floor plans, lighting, door/window placement, electrical, etc. She pointed out a number of areas up front that not only saved us money but significantly enhanced the look and value of our new home. From a design perspective, she helped us wade through the myriad of choices for paint and fixtures that has resulted in a distinctive look and feel. She advised us and found vendors for things like custom mirrors and window shutters and has advised us on indoor and outdoor furniture selections. Amy's technical and design expertise and her ability to work with contractors saved us again and again during construction. “My husband and I are clients of Amy Klebitz and are beyond excited to have her alongside us in the "transformation process" of our home. We are consulting with Amy on our (small) home (big) renovation project because she is practical, creative and efficient in getting our ideas into motion. We are currently in the designing phase with Amy and so far she has exceeded our every expectation. She is brilliant at taking our ideas, sketches, and magazine clippings and meshing them with the existing floor plan. Amy collected our ideas, took measurements of our home, and in 3 days gave us 3 design options to choose from. Amy is sensitive of our budget while not sacrificing all of our wants for our needs. She gives great attention to maximizing the functionality of our space, yet everything remains aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Our home is an investment, but more importantly it is where we live, eat, sleep and make memories. “Amy and her team from Urban Cottage designed my house from the ground up. She made many significant improvements from the initial design and the results were nothing short of spectacular. This is the third house I have done with her, but the first original construction project. She is now re-doing an older project and breathing new life into that as well. Everyone that walks in raves, raves, raves. Everywhere you look there is some other thoughtful detail. Our builder loved working with her, too. She worked hard to keep us on budget and literally worked around the clock to get us finished by deadline. Her shop is extremely popular as well....just can't say enough good things!”

“The professional interior design services you provided in the remodeling of our home in Southern Shores, NC exceeded our expectations. The renovation of the kitchen, great room, master bedroom suite and master bath makes us feel like we are living in a home that has been featured in Architectural Digest. Besides your professional insight into “what will work” design-wise, you were cognizant of our budget and overall concept of interior design. The following is a list of both professional and personal attributes you bring to your work: You listen to the client. Listening is a skill that is undervalued in an age when everyone has an opinion. You show up on time and are prepared. As Ben Franklin said: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail”. You prepare. You have an innate sense of design and give the client options rather than a “fait du complis”. As a member of a design and building team, you are valued member of the team and most importantly, take a leadership role when appropriate in all facets of the design, building and furnishing process. Your use of technology (computer aided design apps) provided us with a visual “picture” of the final product and how the room layouts will flow with the new furniture placed in remodeled rooms.
