12x's BEST OF HOUZZ AWARD WINNER. D Home Best Designer 2019, 2018 & 2016 As a licensed Interior Designer for the past 25 years, I've enjoyed collaborating with my Clients to bring their personality and style to life through the decor of their home or office. Over those years, I've noticed a few reasons why people hesitate hiring an Interior Designer. 1. They’ve never worked with a designer and so they don't have any experience with the intricacies of the design process. 2. They're concerned the project will take too long. 3. They're afraid of paying too much for design help. 4. Sometimes, they or someone they know may have worked with a designer in the past and struggled for creative control during the project. And honestly, all those barriers are very real. So what we've done at Dona Rosene Interiors is build a design business that: • is collaborative. If you have a vision or idea of what you want, we simply help bring it to life. • If you have no idea where to start, we walk you through our step-by-step process to show you how we come up with different combinations of colors and furnishings we recommend...we explain why certain things work well together and others don't. • And we do all those things at a price-point that likely won't be the "cheapest bid" out there; but will be fair for the value you receive. • You have the option of completing an entire room, groups of rooms or home in a single installation, as well as break your project into several phases such as a room at a time or a group of rooms. • The investment for our service involves an hourly design fee in conjunction with a furnishings budget. Feel free to call us for a quote today. So, no matter which Interior Designer you hire, make sure they've built a design business that addresses the concerns I have mentioned above.

Mary Anne, recognized by her peers as one of the top designers in Dallas for several years, was born in Seminole, Oklahoma and is an honor graduate of Oklahoma State University. One of the first designers registered in the State of Texas after passing the NCIDQ exam, Ms. Smiley is a professional member of ASID, and is four qualified in AutoCAD. Ms. Smiley has been published in a myriad of publications, and is the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in design. Ms. Smiley began drawing house plans in fourth grade. Her obsession led her to enroll in Architecture at OSU. But it was the mid 60’s and to her surprise she was informed by the Dean that “women do not enroll in architecture.” Not to be daunted, Ms. Smiley walked across the street to enroll in Interior Design and Fine Art and launched her successful career in interior design. She professes it has been a marvelous adventure ever since. Ms. Smiley’s career path has taken her from Oklahoma to Colorado, California, and Texas with projects completed on both coasts and all in between. After living for 18 years in Athens, Texas, a magnet for getaway homes and ranches of the rich and famous of Dallas, Ms. Smiley relocated her design firm to Dallas. Ms. Smiley is known for her use of bright spots of pure color supported by soft lovely pearl finish backgrounds, and for her avant-garde mix of exquisite antiques and layers of sumptuous textiles with contemporary and cutting edge products from metallics to recycled plastics. Her AutoCAD skills have given her the ability to design her own furnishings and products, when unique and creative solutions are required, resulting in recognition for product design. Ms. Smiley loves color and was one of the pioneers of the use of bright color in Dallas, and consequently in the US. Ms. Smiley loves time at home with her family, a grown daughter with her own professional career and 3 mini dachshunds and a golden retriever. She and her daughter have a love of all forms of art and nature, and enjoy dabbling in water colors purely for personal pleasure. Ms. Smiley recently illustrated the children’s book, SAM’S BIRTHMARK. Miss Smiley has been on the Best Designers in Dallas list for the past 9 years, and was celebrated in 2013 as one of the FAB FIVE TOP DESIGNERS IN DALLAS by Luxe and roche Bobois.

Smith & Ragsdale is a full-scale interior design firm, specializing in highly functional kitchens and thoughtfully appointed interiors. We believe that every kitchen, bath, and other interior space has unique solutions achievable through expert planning. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to successful design, and our collaborative approach creates synergy that will serve to set your home apart from the rest. OUR MISSION: To design interiors to be a reflection of our client and their unique lifestyle. We aim to deliver well-designed spaces in which the function, materials, and client-experience converge. This is achieved through careful investigation, thoughtful collaboration with our clients and trades, and keen attention to detail from project inception through completion. HOW WE WORK: We have found our success by allowing creative inspiration in problem solving to be the key ingredient in our process. Creative inspiration evolves throughout the design process and for us, it most often comes directly from our clients. Before we put pen to paper, it is time-well-spent to get to know the client and their family to become intuitive their unique needs and ask: What problems need to be solved? How will the design will enhance their quality of life now and in the future? WHY WE’RE SUCCESSFUL: What it means to be beautiful or well-designed is subjective. There is not one style or approach that offers ALL the solutions, however each residence and each client brings a unique set of challenges and opportunities for creative solutions. We believe you have to look at every element as an opportunity to solve the problem. OUR PHILOSOPHY: It’s simple: interior design should not be painted with a broad brush; it must be looked at through a microscope. Each detail affects the next and is just as important. We aren’t talking about measuring something to the nearest 1/16 inch, though that is certainly critical. We are talking about having a keen understanding of successful design and creatively applying that understanding to each project. Similar to a fine chef who seeks the best ingredients to elevate a dish, a designer must be intentional about every design decision and make sure every element has meaning, ensuring the design will have no missing ingredients.

I think the first apartment I lived in sparked the interior design creative that was inside of me. Being able to take an empty space, envision a plan, and then execute that plan gave me a feeling that I’m not quite sure I can explain. I just knew I wanted to do more of that. So, my first big paid job came when a friend of mine reached out to me. She was moving into a new build and wanted all 3,000 square feet of the space decorated! It was definitely a dream come true. It was a lot of hard work, but I loved every minute of it. I also learned a lot about my personal design style and what kind of styling I wanted to do. Pretty soon, with the help of quality photos and word of mouth, I started getting calls from other people to help me decorate their homes. As a designer, it really gives me a sense of joy to be able to go into the homes of my clients, sit down with them and listen to what they want to get from their space and be able to give them that. I recently had a client tell me that she didn’t really know what she wanted, but what I gave her was it. She said, “It’s like you were able to download what I saw in my mind, and actually bring it into my space.” That was quite powerful. I think my favorite part of designing is all of it! From seeing the before to creating mood boards to shopping to installing, I love every single moment. Watching it come together is amazing, but watching client reactions to the reveal are moments that I live for. Even in my own home, I get to experience my design influence through my husband. He often tells me that he loves coming home because it’s such a peaceful atmosphere. I believe that with so much chaos in the world, the one place you should be able to rest is in your home. Although we all have different styles and taste, the question still remains, How can I make this space a sanctuary for my client? That is my goal when I approach a new design project.
