“I never wanted a fixer upper, but after almost a year of looking, my husband and I decided it was our best chance of getting into the neighborhood we wanted. It had everything–good schools, kids running through the streets, block parties, and walkability to the local village. We were so excited to give our two daughters an amazing childhood that we closed on the house and hired a contracting company to help us remodel. I had no idea how overwhelming or time consuming the process would be. The contracting company provided an in-house designer. At our first meeting, she asked me if I had a Pinterest board, what my style was, and how I wanted to remodel my kitchen. I didn’t know the answer to any of these questions. I’d heard great things about Kelly Churney Design Studio and knew Kelly personally, so I hired her to work alongside the remodeling team to help make the process more manageable and hone in on what we wanted. As a stay at home mom with two young kids, I didn’t have the time or desire to look through Pinterest, shop for countertops, and finetune my style. Kelly was amazing from start to finish! She created a vision board and sent me pictures of kitchens with warm tones that I loved right away. She helped me to discover that my style was transitional and whenever I had any questions, she responded right away. This was a bigger home than we’d had in the past, so we were in need of a lot of new furniture, area rugs, and decor. Kelly helped us with room layout, created a cohesive vision for each space, and took care of ordering and delivery for us. She attended all the design meetings with the contracting company, shopped for countertops, and assisted with all of our selections. All the things that the contracting company lacked (communication, timeliness, customer service skills), Kelly excelled in. Seven months later, I couldn’t love my new home and kitchen more. It’s the perfect mix of warmth and style, beauty and functionality. I never could have done it without Kelly. She saved me from months of headaches and made an overwhelming process enjoyable. “Michelle Norgren from Harmony Homes designed a structure for our home. Michelle came to our home to discuss our structure. She is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. It was a pleasure working with her.The plans met our needs and were submitted to our contactor. Unfortunately our contractor did not follow the plans. We were unable to contact our contractor to rectify the issues. Even though Michelle's responsibilities were complete, she continued to guide us in getting our issues with the contractor resolved.
