Alicia Friedmann Interior Design

It is with great pleasure that we write this review for Alicia Friedmann Interior Design (AFID), LLC. After living in our three bedroom, two bath, 1930s Colonial Revival home designed by Long Beach architect Keneth Wing. We had a multitude of design ideas and 30-pages of details for the direction we wanted, in order to maintain the home's architectural integrity. We initially contacted Ms. Friedmann concerning our long-time, much anticipated home addition and remodel. Utilizing an interior designer was a first for us. Although we already had many detailed ideas we thought it valuable to have a professional designer help us clarify, validate and actualize our ideas in renderings and floor plans. For us, this is a big undertaking of resources, time and money, and Very much wanted to assure keeping the style of our modest 1930s Kenneth Wing designed home. Alicia's professional process began with completing an extensive personality inventory; to not only for her to get more acquainted with our interests and preferences, but to assure we, as husband and wife also better understood and communicated about our vision and expectations for our home addition/remodeling project. Consequently, Ms. Friedmann's thorough process was very helpful in clarifying all our ideas and concerns. Also, early in the process, she was very clear about communicating her services and specifying how the process would proceed, as well as itemizing the payment schedule for her services, making adjustments as we progressed. She and her team expeditiously and unobtrusively photographed and carefully conducted measuring the rooms to be remodeled: kitchen, family room addition, in relation to yard space to be used by the new room addition, bedroom and two bathrooms.. Alicia made us feel very comfortable throughout the process. She is an excellent listener and reflector of our many detailed ideas and needs. She was generous with her time, readily available by phone or email throughout the process, and always answered every phone call and quickly replied to all emails. Alicia and her team were very good at being concerned and provided their best. Alicia then In a reasonable amount of time provided initial design concepts, space planning proposals, 2D floorplans, and elevation drawings. She graciously made adjustments wherever necessary, according to our requests. Alicia also included referrals, product and material specifications, and provided many other suggestions to achieve our desired desired look and feel, never imposing her aesthetic We were very satisfied with AFID services. Alicia and her team are all very professional, personable and offered many ideas to help us pursu our dream project. What we also found exceptionally outstanding, was three years after having worked with us, Alicia immediately returned our inquiry email with valuable suggestions, referrals and resources, AND did not not charge a fee. In conclusion, we give AFID a five-star rating.

We were very pleased with Alicia's work on our full house remodel and addition. She made the overwhelming process of designing a new interior enjoyable. During construction, she made sure every item was ordered and delivered when the contractor needed it which resulted in no delays.

Alicia Friedmann and her team specialize in interior design for full home remodels and they are exceptional at what they do. If you are considering a large scale redesign, having Alicia on your team sets you up for incredible success, saves you time, and money during the construction process. Once our home plans were finalized with our architect, Alicia worked with us to design every detail of our home, had a 3D color composite, furniture, lighting, finishes, and features picked out before we even started the bidding process with contractors. Alicia supplied contractors bidding for the job with all of these details including elevations, allowing them to include these choices in their bid and reducing unexpected costs down the line. My husband and I, for our part, in addition to needing a full home remodel required universal design to accommodate my husband’s spinal cord injury. Alicia exceeded our expectations in planning, designing, and implementing her design. Our home is not only accessible and functional but it is stunningly beautiful, unique, and looks anything but “handicapped”. We are so very grateful. Home remodels are a team sport, requiring regular and consistent contact with architects, contractors, and of course, homeowners. Alicia and her team are readily available, offer a clear and direct pricing structure, clear billing practices, and after hours appointments for working homeowners. She met regularly, not only with our general contractor but with subcontractors who were responsible for our finishes. Everything was done to specification the first time and this is because Alicia so clearly communicated to everyone what was needed. Alicia is a consummate professional, always prepared, and is incredibly detail oriented. A full home remodel takes time and you want to like the people you work with. Additionally, when it comes to design, you are dealing with issues of taste, values, and aesthetic. Alicia was a pro at helping my husband and I find the middle ground in our taste differences and was flexible when we requested more options or didn’t like something. Additionally, she embraced my interest in choosing things, myself, included me in any meetings and welcomed me shopping on my own. Alicia is an incredible talent, a worthwhile and necessary investment, and an experienced leader in large scale projects and re-designs. You want her on your team.

We met Alicia and her team earlier this year and have collaborated on a few projects so far. The AFID team really is a joy to work with. In addition to their beautiful and functional designs, the communication is excellent and they have a strong "team spirit" when working with us and the client. Having a positive experience for our clients is something that is important to both our companies. We look forward to many more projects together in the future!

Alicia helped my husband and me complete the remodel of our modern oceanfront condo. We had already completed the finishes, but were struggling to choose furniture, art and decor. Found Alicia by "accident" and am very happy to have done so. Both she and her assistant, Rhianna, take much interest in what YOUR ideas are, ask questions, are sincerely interested in what you have to say, make suggestions, is conscious of your time line/budget, very willing to change course and makes one feel comfortable working with a designer (which we had never done before). A very comfortable experience and we look forward to completing our project and working with her on others.

Alicia advised on material, hardware, fixture and furnishings for our entire house remodel. She stuck with us for over 3 years on this process and has been a great partner the entire way!

Alicia has assisted me with 2 projects that we are very very pleased with. One was mostly a major accessorizing living and dining area with artwork, lighting, and colors. The second was a major redo of our master bathroom and bedroom. She is prompt, has great design suggestions and listened to what I wanted in my vision. Then I just let her come up with the scheme! If I did not use her I would still be trying to decide what to do.

Alicia is amazing. She helped us with choosing paint colors for master and 3 other bedrooms and with advices on furniture and built in cabinets. We saw several of our friends struggling with choosing paint colors on their own and even after many samples still being unhappy with the painted rooms. We are so happy that we had Alicia to help us. Having unusual green color furniture I was very nervous about finding paint color that will work with furniture, floor, and other pieces. Alicia has a great eye for colors and made the process of choosing the paint easy and painless. We've got so many compliments on our wall colors. It was a very pleasant experience working with Alicia. She listens very carefully and tries to find options that work with your vision, she is not pushy like other designers. My husband and I really appreciate all her help and we both think that it was definitely worth it for us to get her services. We highly recommend her

I hired Alicia Friedmann Design to help me with ideas during the remodel of my house. This included choosing wallpaper for a couple of rooms and also choosing paint colors that would work with my current furniture, art, etc. She listened to all my concerns and was very patient in the decision making process. For someone who struggles with decision making like myself, that is very important! :) During the time I worked with her, she was always professional and prompt. I cannot wait to use her again!

I asked Alicia to come to my house for a consultation on replacing my drapes. She came to my house to talk about what to do about my window treatments. She was very nice and I was comfortable with her advice. I asked two other companies to come over for a quote, too. I went with Alicia because she was the least expensive of the group. After four weeks, a worker came over to install my drapes. Alicia came to my house to make sure that I was happy with the work. I am pleased to say that everything met my expectations. If i need help with more interior work, I have no problem calling Alicia for another consultation.

We had Alicia come to our house and help us with the design of our kitchen and bathroom. Alicia is very personable and felt like she was a friend. We are very satisfied with her knowledge and help. She brought light to our projects and helped us visualize it. As it comes time for our remodel, we will definitely use her service again.

I hired AFID to design our master bedroom which had never fully come together. Alicia really listened to the feel and look I wanted to achieve -- even though I had no concrete examples or idea of how that would be executed. AFID took action, created a design, delivered and installed everything from furniture and window treatments to accessories and artwork. I finally have the grown up, sophisticated yet functional master bedroom. I am extremely happy and look forward to tackling the next project with AFID's help!

I approached Alicia to help me with selecting finishes for our home remodel, which is still in process--hence no pictures. I love working with her. Unlike some designers who try to push you toward their favorite style, Alicia is a good listener who is concerned about working with your family and your lifestyle. Because I'm very busy and don't have oodles of time to look through a lot of samples I asked for three choices for each item and her opinion about what would work best. She was efficient throughout the entire process and gave me sound advice. We've retained Alicia to do additional design work as the project progresses. (Photos soon, promise). Alicia is great!

Alicia is working with my significant other and I to convert his bachelor pad into a home fit for the both of us. I cannot believe how thorough and helpful she was within a two hour consultation! We now have a clear direction for the entire home - paint color, lay out, furniture and style - and will continue working with her to bring our home to its full potential through window treatments and furniture selection. Alicia is awesome! She was able to see my vision and help me come up with an interior design for my house that I absolutely love and it was in my budget. I didn't realize how affordable it would be to hire an interior designer to help me with the upgrades I wanted to do to my house. I was doing some much needed upgrades to my 1300 square foot house. Alicia helped me pick the perfect paint color, tile, window coverings, glass tile design for around my fire place, new area rug for my living room, new light fixtures, and made furniture recommendations. My contractor is just finishing up and I am so pleased with the end result. I love being in my house...it is so "me" now. Alicia is so pleasant to work with. I met Alicia while touring the 2012 Pasadena Showcase House and really admired the space she created in that home. Her style is fresh and full of life. I had never utilized professional design services before but I kept her contact information for future reference. I am so glad I did! Our house was a blank canvas that was very blah and desperately needed to be finished in a way that would bring personality and style into our home. Upon my very first contact with Alicia, I knew I had made a good decision. Alicia is thoughtful, creative, and really listens well. She worked collaboratively with me to bring life to our otherwise blah and boring house. She brings excellent ideas that really add that special something to a space. My experience with Alicia was top notch. I've used her services more than twice and also got a referral to a painter who did faux painting on my kitchen cabinets. Alicia helped me to choose proper window coverings throughout the house. Additionally, she helped me to complete the decor of my house from artistically hanging pictures to showing me what furniture, carpet pieces, etc. we're needed to compete the look. I have a beach condo on which I got paint and granite ideas. She is responsible, friendly, helpful as well as artistic. It was the best decision I made to use her services. Alicia came in as a One time consultant to offer some choices for a redecorating I was doing in our master bedroom. Making a drastic change of colors provoked a real dilemma with the highlights of gold in my bedroom furniture. I wasn't about to consider replacing an expensive purchase, so Alicia suggested having the gold areas painted in silver. I loved the idea and she made all arrangements for a very qualified painter to do a very detailed job to make this change. I love it! Alicia worked as a true professional from beginning to end. She frequently checked in during the process both by phone and physically stopping in to supervise the quality and progress.. Very satisfied with my Friedmann experience. Alicia Friedman Design provided many services for our new house. They designed the interior of our house from furniture selection, paint colors, and art work. I always received prompt responses for my many questions and everything happened before the "due date." We hired Alicia on a consulting basis to help us with various decisions during the remodel of our home which included new hardwood floors, carpeting, window coverings and kitchen remodel. I am a local real estate investor and I've used Alicia Friedmann a few times now to draw kitchen layouts for me. Sometimes it is so much easier to design new kitchens when you can see it on paper. She has helped me with the overall design of the kitchen including the details of where the appliances will go, to really maximize the space. She has also helped with color choices. All the houses I do with her have been in the $400-700K range, but I have also seen some million dollar houses she has done, so I would feel comfortable hiring her for larger, more expensive designs as well. She's also been really quick for me too which I really appreciate since I need to start my projects right away.

I have used Alicia consistently for the past two years. She has assisted me with the following: 1. Selection of interior paint colors for bedrooms, kitchen, family room, play room etc., 2. Selection of exterior paint colors for house, trim, doors etc., 3. Placement of furniture, 4. Placement of artwork and framing of original artwork., 5. Remodel of half bath, 6. Carpeting and flooring, 7. Selection and installation of windows coverings for family room, kitchen, bedroom, etc, 8. Custom built entertainment center. At all times Alicia has been professional, curteous and a pleasure to work with. She really takes the time to understand her clients needs and desires. She has fantastic ideas and is respectful of your need to work within a budget. I would highly recommend her and plan to use her again in the future.

Alicia was very professional and a pleasure to work with. He gave just the right amount of input and feedback for each situation and never forced her opinions on me. She also worked well and at times directly with my contractor. We were a well oiled machine with a common goal of making my dream house come true. Alicia was a critical part of making my project come true and 6 weeks ahead of schedule. I cannot recommend Alicia and AFID enough. I'd give her 10 stars if I could! I worked with Alicia initially just to pick a paint color for our house which turned out great! There were so many other areas of the house I wanted to improve, so I decided to use Alicia's eyes for all of them! From carpet, lighting, art placement, nursery, dining room, etc......she has been a pleasure to work with on everything. My previously outdated house is now stunning!

Alicia Friedmann Interior Design has been doing the design work on my homes for the past seven years. Alicia is very professional, creative, prompt with her responses and has an amazing attention to detail. She worked with us on a home we built from the groud up and was instrumental in picking all of our surfaces during the building process, our kitchen and bathroom design and when the house was built she assisted with furniture, window coverings and accessories in every room.
