We purchased our home in February 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic. It was a time of long supply line delays and Covid-related work issues. And because we were brand-new to the area and our project called for an extensive renovation and a lot of furniture acquisition, we needed a firm that could provide project management along with the design component. Allard & Roberts has a highly professional and creative team who effortlessly made the magic happen. We are very happy with the results and grateful that A&R got us to the finish line during a very trying time.

Best decision we've made in a long time! We chose A+R for helping us furnish the main living level of our new home and what a fantastic job they did. They furnished our great room, screened decks, kitchen, dining, and primary bedroom. When I walked into my new bedroom I actually got goosebumps it was so beautiful. They recommended furniture, bedding, art and window treatments in a simple method of clicking and selecting, since we weren't living in Asheville at the time. We appreciated how they also helped us with lighting decisions and paint colors even though we were primarily focused on furniture. The lights they selected are amazing. So enjoyable to work with! It is no exaggeration to say that, for me, Talli and Megan saved the day. My husband and I bought a lovely home, but one that was dark and dated inside and heavily stylized in Tudor fashion. Long story short, Talli and Megan transformed the interior in just 4 months in Transitional style, and now I LOVE our home which feels fresh and bright - the kitchen especially. Among their strengths: Talli & Megan LISTEN. They tailor their suggestions to the client’s preferences and tastes, not their own. At the same time, I appreciated their candor when I asked for a “yay” or “nay” about the areas I was decorating on my own (the upstairs bedrooms, for example). A&R has been in business in Asheville for over a decade, so they are well connected and facilitated many of the introductions I needed coming from a different state, including finding the General Contractor. They worked in partnership with the builder so that I could be across the country while the work was being done and I didn’t have to worry about managing it myself – that’s how much trust I placed in A&R. Talli and Megan and team are also highly responsive. I had a tight timeframe to complete this project before we moved in. Talli and Megan always responded to me within 24 hours or less and they helped drive the project to the expected completion date, including managing the punch list follow up and the furniture delivery to ensure no items arrived damaged or caused damage. They even helped find accessories to create a finished look. If you have the means to invest in a high-end, blue chip design service – A&R is the team to beat. I highly recommend them. They are also a lot of fun to work with.

The Allard and Roberts team did a phenomenal job of managing all aspects of my design project, with the significant distractions of the Covid pandemic during the entire time. I am very satisfied with their professional manor and am very excited by the results of their work. They listened carefully to what I considered important and were able to accomodate what I was looking for, even when I was not 100% sure myself. It was not easy with covid issues and related problems including delays with the developer and available furnishings but they saw it thru to completion. I highly recommend them.

Allan and Roberts made building our new home streamlined ,simple and enjoyable. We have been aware of A + R for some time, as several of our friends have used their design services. After we bought our new home, we knew that we wanted to work with A + R even if it meant waiting several months until they had availability on their schedule. As it turns out they were able to begin sooner than planned. From the moment we began, we were embraced by their warm, knowledgeable team. Our need was to create inviting and comfortable spaces for our large family. From the moment that we began our project, we developed a strong trust in the team. They had worked with our architect and builder before so were very familiar with how they worked. They were always on the same page by staying in contact with them. Our experience with A&R was nothing short of first class. The entire A&R team was very organized and handled everything is a very professional way. Our project was a remodel of a home from the 1920’s that lent to many adjustments on the fly. We ended up with a home that we are exceptionally proud of and our use of A&R can be directly responsible for the the end result. We live 6 to 7 hours away from the project which made it almost impossible for us to have done this project without some help. Working with ARID was a wonderful experience that yielded a fantastic result. Upon purchasing a lot and hiring an architect, we needed an interior design firm that would help us to create our dream house. We engaged ARID to help with this task. A budget and time frame were established. ARID completed our project on time and within budget. They were true professionals and a pleasure to work with. They documented every step of the process and kept us advised. Their knowledge, expertise, follow up,and pleasant work style made the process fun. The best decision we made was to hire Allard & Roberts. We live out of state and building a new home can be very stressful. Much of the stress was relieved as we could count on them to make sight visits and make many design decisions. They were invaluable to us!! Allard & Roberts did an excellent job working with me on material, paint, tiles, granite, flooring, etc. selections and interfacing this information with Glennwood Builders. They were professional, always on time, followed up on every details and kept the project. They work together as a team which seemed expensive, however, it turned out much more efficient and saved money in the end.. Retro+Fit Design has worked with Allard & Roberts several times over the last few years. We consider them integral to the overall design of the home. They are very easy to work with and have wonderful design "eyes". Allard & Roberts understand how light, color, and texture are integral in the designed space. We feel very fortunate to have found Allard and Roberts to guide us through the design of our Asheville mountain retreat. We were initially attracted to an on-line interview of Talli Roberts that shared her philosophy of listening to her clients and then guiding them tastefully. Their portfolio appealed to our aesthetic sense, so it was an easy decision. They used local resources to gain more insights into our taste, and then combined local, national and international sources for their recommendations on furnishing. They recognized that we wanted both fine art and quality handcrafts prominent in our home. They recommended some moderately priced items to fill some basic needs, thereby allowing more funds for the purchase of handcrafted items that moved the design to a much higher level. They recruited local artisans to do custom work, including the construction of a display unit for sculpture and a unique fireplace screen and tools for an irregularly shaped fireplace. They also steered us to some handcrafted furniture including barstools and office furniture that beautifully optimize space utilization and function. Their talent as designers is matched by their warmth and kindness. Our relationship with them doesn’t end with our home. A friendship and respect has developed that should last for years to come.

Talli and Sharon are truly the best at what they do! I knew the minute I met them that they were the perfect fit for my project. We hired Talli to renovate our kitchen and a few other areas of our home. Our own back-of-the-envelope design turned out to be more expensive than we expected; but Talli came up with a new plan that was a much better use of space and gave us exactly what we wanted. She was instrumental in the selection of our excellent general contractor as well as finding cabinets, lighting, countertops, etc to compliment the space. We were completely comfortable leaving the house and the project to Talli when we needed to be away. There are additional projects in our future and there is no question that we will turn to Talli when the time comes.

I initially hired Talli when I first moved to Asheville over 2 years ago. She worked with me to coordinate the move, purchase new furniture, and coordinate the delivery and placement of my existing furniture on move in day. I was able to communicate my style to her and she worked within my budget. At the same time she led me to several local businesses that carry sustainable furniture and to various local artists to create the right ambiance. She was fun to work with and completely dependable. I have worked with several designers all over the country and I have to say this was the most stress less move I have ever had! In fact I enjoyed working with Talli so much that I hired her and Sharon to coordinate the renovation of my basement this past year. Since I travel for work so much it was important that I have someone who is trustworthy and dependable to see that work would carry on in my absence. She helped with getting estimates from several contractors then worked with the contractor and project manager to oversee the project in its entirety. When I was in town we made selections and when I was gone she made sure that the project moved forward. Talli helped me work through countless decisions and always looked for ways to save me money. My house looks great and always gets amazing comments from my friends and guests. But probably the best part of working with Talli and Sharon is they make you feel like family. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Allard & Roberts provided a complete design service for a new home in Black Mountain, NC. As an owner not present during the construction, we relied on Talli and team to provide all the details and selections (colors, tile, cabinets, woodwork, wood and carpet floors, bath and kitchen arrangments, lighting details, window treatments, and some furnishings) ahead of the builder. They also monitored the progress of the work to insure the design efforts were ahead of the builder's schedule, and provided eyes and ears many times in our absence. Only regret was that we did not hire them earlier in process, as there were opportunities to tweak the design that would have provided cost-saving benefits up front. Advantages of using Allard & Roberts also included their access to competitive pricing for all the subcontractors they sourced. The project lasted about two years, and likely saved us more money, let alone the value of the time/effort, than we paid for the services they spec'd out. Strongly recommend using them in a custom home, but they will also provide this value in any size project where design and service are critical.
