Ally Whalen Design

We decided to book a consultation with Ally based on the beautiful pictures of her work. We knew we wanted to work with her once we met, she was extremely personable. This was our time working with a designer. She selected the paint color, layout, furniture and decor for our casual living room and eat in kitchen in our lake home. We weren't entirely sure on what we wanted, but knew we liked neutral colors and lots of texture. I liked farmhouse, cottage and coastal styles but really needed ideas and recommendations. Ally did a wonderful job of putting a couple design boards together and was patient while we made decisions and selected fabrics. Full delivery of everything took longer than expected and happened in stages because some pieces took longer than expected and one item arrived damaged which Ally immediately handled. This of course was no fault of Ally’s. The end result was awesome! Neutrals, texture, cohesion. We love our space Ally created and frequently get compliments on everything from the furniture, to the art, to the accessories!

We recently relocated / purchased a home in Charlotte. Via Houzz, my husband and I (independently) chose 3 designers in the area we admired. Ally Whalen Design was at the top of both our lists, and the first day we met her we KNEW we made the right choice! Ally is not only professional, but also incredibly personable. Her impeccable taste as well as connections to top notch painters, electricians, and flooring contractors made the process seamless. Installation day was like Christmas! Her team spent the entire day transforming our home into something straight out of a photo shoot. Elegant serenity is the vibe you get walking from room to room. We can't rave enough about our experience with Ally Whalen.

Ally and her firm designed a beautiful, welcoming, super-functional space for us on our Lake Home ground floor. We had several design challenges and she came up with terrific solutions. Her color selection for the space has transformed it dramatically and we are thrilled with the results of the furniture selection and placement. Ally and her firm are prompt, reliable, sensible and great people to work with. This is the second project we did with her and we trust her to keep within our budget and to make the whole process as low friction as possible. Can't wait to hire her again!

We are elated with our newly constructed home in Charlotte. Felt so confident after one meeting that we let Ally design our blank-slate interior from faraway Michigan. Gorgeous colors and classy, comfortable pieces, including accessories. She is smart and stylish and pegged our taste perfectly. What a pleasure this experience has been!

My husband and I purchased a lovely mountain house that sorely need to be brought into the 21st century. I was not familiar with any design professionals in the area so I searched the portfolios featured on Houzz. After four months of extensive remodeling which included painting kitchen cabinets (gorgeous!), installing hardwood floors, redoing the master bath, painting etc., I was treated to the reveal. The entire house turned out soft, soothing and fabulous. Ally translated my design vision and taste throughout the entire house while imparting her famous "simple and classic" design philosophy. She has a cheerful and pleasant personality and is very easy to work with. I highly recommend her.

When we were finally ready to embark on a major kitchen renovation that was years overdue, I knew I had to find the services of a designer to make important decision-making easier. While scouring photos in Houzz I serendipitously found Ally, and after going with my gut instinct (she did not come recommended by a friend, I found her here and just loved every photo of every project she worked on) I couldn't be more thrilled with my decision to hire Ally. Her vision to rework our kitchen space meant having to spend a bit more than our budget, but that was a brilliant and educated opinion that another designer might not have been brave enough to suggest. The end result was more than worth the extra money spent. I was confident in her every decision, letting her make many design choices without my prior knowledge. That is how much I trusted her. She made me fall in love with my kitchen that had been neglected and overlooked for too long. And I look forward to hosting an open house in my new gorgeous and well-planned and fabulously-functional kitchen so my friends and neighbors can meet the designer behind the vision.

I wanted to redecorate two rooms, my family room and sun room. Both rooms had limited seating and dated colors and furniture. Ally Whalen came to my house and I felt that she understood my concerns. We worked together to choose new paint, fabric and furniture. Ally was so kind and gentle I was very comfortable with her. On "Reveal Day" I came home to two beautiful, bright rooms. Everything down to the votive candle holder was perfect. I let Ally pick out some of the decorative items without getting my approval first and I loved her choices. My rooms are comfortable to relax in yet elegant and just "pretty" . Everyone that has come to see them is amazed at the transformation.

Ally and her husband Scott are terrific team. We hired them to help decorate our living room and dining room. Our house is a renovated ranch from the 80's with a hexagon shaped living room that has 3 large windows, a set of stairs and 2 entry ways to other rooms. It was a challenge to say the least! Ally had great ideas for furniture placement. Her furniture line is top quality and reasonable. She did a fantastic job from start to finish.

My family has moved a lot and our furniture simply goes from one house to the next and we make it work. I wanted to do something different this time around so after living in our Mooresville home for a few years (and not moving) I found Ally Whalen on the Houzz App. Her before and after pictures were just what I was looking for....casual, comfortable and stylish! Now after my own "reveal" I couldn't be happier! Ally did an amazing job with our family room, kitchen eating area and sunroom. She stayed within the budget I gave here and managed all the ordering and delivering. She assisted me in picking out new paint color, new carpet and tile for a new backsplash. Everything goes together so well I could not have done it without her. I will definitely use Ally again for any future room makeovers.

I am a professional photographer who has had the pleasure of working with Ally Whalen Design for a few years now. I have seen many of Ally's projects and transformations and have been honored to photograph her finished work! I see her interactions with her clients and she is not only professional and thorough but she is also personable. She gets to know her clients, what their tastes and lifestyles are to create the spaces that fit their needs. Each project I photograph, I am amazed by her creativity and how she brings such a relaxing elegance to each space.
