I hesitate to say this, because your readers will think I'm exaggerating, but I think the principals of AM/MOR Architecture are creative geniuses. They have a bold and brilliant vision that I have never seen before. I worked with them a year and a half ago when they did a gut renovation of a small apartment in a unique building that had previously been the abbey of a church. They were a pleasure to work with, were consummate professionals, and proceeded with care and confidence throughout the entire project. The result was a distinctive space that was featured in the September 2017 issue of Interior Design and was voted one of the magazine's ten most popular design projects of the year. I cannot recommend them more highly.

If glass, steel and concrete could blush, they would. But we can, and we are. Thank you so much it was a joy to work with you and the final result is sensational. Much appreciated!

Tom is professional, knowledgeable, on time and listened to my vision. He did his research before he came to our appointment and notified us about a couple of outstanding items on the apartment we purchased. His proposal came in exactly when he said it would. Their portfolio of work is very impressive. In the end we didn't go with AMMOR because of timeline and budgetary needs. We have a very tight timeline to move into our apartment, if we had more time for the renovation we would would have chosen them.

We recently used AMMOR for a combination of 2 apartments in Long Island City creating a 3 bedroom with playroom. My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our experience from beginning to end. The careful attention to design and detail helped create a seamless combination. Tom was able to work with the board, building staff and general contractor resulting in a smooth process every step of the way. A few unique aspects of our project that everybody notices upon stepping into our apartment: barn doors, center limestone column as divider for living/dining room and cabinetry. They even were able to recommend a landscape architect that helped create an outside oasis for us. I would recommend AMMOR to anybody looking to create their dream apartment.

The team at AMMOR took a disaster and made it a gem. Their design, management, and execution exceeded our expectations in every aspect of the project. We have had a lot of experience remodeling, and can say unequivocally, this was our best. What makes it all the more remarkable is that we live in California, and this project was a condo on the upper east side of Manhattan. The condo was a small box with a narrow door into a cave of a kitchen, a bedroom where you couldn’t easily walk around the bed, and a crowded bathroom with the toilet and shower-in-the-tub nearly touching. There was a small area off the bathroom, which seemed to serve no function, and an odd shaped almost walk-in closet. The condo did have two large west facing windows, which in spite of the very low ceilings provided a good deal of light. When we investigated raising the ceiling, we discovered large sections would have to remain low. Somehow Tom and Goil, and their team, come up with a design that makes the space feel larger. The raised ceiling was carefully designed, flows well, and adds drama to the extraordinary finishes. The living room, dining area, and kitchen are open and clean with enough drama to make a statement. The lighting highlights the space and the openness. The bedroom is comfortable to navigate and the bath area, including a full shower, separate toilet, two vanities and a separate dressing area, is somehow spacious. Every space has been used to its maximum benefit, including an office area whose built in bench easily turns into a double bed for guests. We have more closets than we can use and a beautiful entry glass shelf built-in. It is a remarkable transformation. Tasteful, smart, sophisticated, and functional. Amazing.

Thank you so much for the excellent review. We enjoyed working with you both and are pleased with the outcome, too. We appreciate the opportunity!
What a perfect pair. Thank you Tom and Goil!
The project was for an approximately 1000SF two bedroom - one bath in estate condition.
Well, estate condition is a bit of an understatement. The apartment was completely run down, way beyond 'estate condition', a total gut rehab.
They removed the entire wall between the kitchen and living room and created a wood-panelled dining room that has become the focal point of my living space. Despite the variety of materials, texture, and open-ness, the design palette is perfectly cohesive and balanced, as are the scales of the individual areas. A huge bonus is the amount of storage they were able to add! The design is extremely efficient, creating a lot of usable storage while making the space feel much larger than it is.
Ammor helped select every finish and detail and the project benefitted tremendously from their expert knowledge of millwork and built-ins (it's these touches that turn a house into a home).
The design made the space feel brighter and larger and they listened to my ideas and incorporated them into the designs I've come to love so much since I've moved in.
They worked with vendors from all over the country to create unique and special fixtures, like the 1950's french inspired wine storage unit and shelves.
And the bathroom. Oh, the bathroom. It looks and feels like a hotel spa... only nicer.

We combined two apartments in Upper West Side of Manhattan to create independent space for our growing girls, while maximizing space for family time as well as entertaining guests. Tom has created perfect design to seamlessly combine two apartments that had never been combined in our building, without leaving any trace that they once were two separate apartments. He understood my desire to create a large, contemporary, and thoroughly functional kitchen and presented a range of options with pros and cons. In addition to the design aspect, Tom and his team have made the co-op board approval and the DOB process entirely manageable. Tom was always available to answer my numerous questions and took every one of them seriously and responded such. Tom is a talented architect with such a fine taste and grace – I will work with him on any future projects and highly recommend him!

My husband and I purchased a 1937 pre-war studio apartment in the Carnegie Hill area of NYC. The process of remodeling in a co-op was completely new to us. We hired Tom Morbitzer from AM/MOR Architecture and we are glad we did. He has an eye for perfection.
Tom's attention to detail and design transformed a very small kitchen space into a beautiful, classic, functional, working kitchen that makes our studio apartment look twice its size. It was not only a pleasure to work with Tom, it was fun.
He dealt with the paper work, permits and plans, making it all look easy. He was great at keeping us informed as the project moved forward. He is an expert in his field and delightful to work with.
It is obvious how much he really enjoys his work and how quickly he grasps the needs of his clients. We are thrilled with the outcome of our small space and have such an appreciation for Tom's patience and design talent.
He also provided us with excellent resources for everything we needed. He takes ownership of his work and creates a vision of what he wants to accomplish. He communicates that vision and is willing to adjust it to the client's needs. We would highly recommend Tom and his company AM/MOR (http://www.arch-ammor.com).

TUG Studio made my dream kitchen and bathroom come true. From the inception of the project to its completion, Tom came up with creative solutions for all of the challenges posed by our spaces while designing a unique, modern look that is still warm and inviting. Everyone who sees our practically new apartment, marvels at how the spaces feel larger and "ooh" and "ahh" over his smart design choices. People have even invited themselves to sleep over so they can cook in the kitchen and use our shower! Tom also is genuinely nice, which is no small feat. I guess it is his midwestern roots shining through! His upbeat demeanor and accessibility helped get us through our three-month project with as little stress as possible. I would not hesitate to hire TUG Studio again....now, I only need to come up with another project and a way to finance it!

The project here was to combine the ground floor and front half of the parlour floor of an old NYC brownstone in a way that maximized space and most importantly – light – while respecting our budget. Tom and Goil did all that and more. We had worked with a previous architect on plans, so knew that the space presented serious challenges and a limited range of options. Tom and Goil brought a fresh perspective to the challenge and created a unique new design that flowed well, maximized space, and is just really, really cool. In addition to being architects on the project, they selected the interior finishes and designed special details. In a just a couple of meetings, Tom and Goil proved that they really “got” what we liked, and presented us with beautiful design options and minimized the amount of time we had to spend on the project. They were incredibly easy to work with, recommended excellent professionals (like the general contractor) and worked well with outside consultants that we brought into the process. They were always available by phone/email when we needed them and showed lots of grace under pressure when dealing with the DOB, surprise pipes in the walls, etc.

>This renovation clearly added value to the property and we only wish that we had other projects so that we could continue to enjoy the experience of working with them!! We obviously highly recommend Tug Studio!

Have you done a gut renovation of an apartment from 2500 miles away? We did. The single decision that made the project a success and got us our dream home was working with TUG studios. From concept drawings to choice of contractors to final completion, they were available and responsive. Tom and Goil heard everything we said we wanted for our 2200 sq ft. triplex apartment. They even figured out a lot that we did not say and translated all that into a coherent whole that met with all our many requirements, from fabulous kitchen to LOTS of counter space to flattering lighting plans and color schemes. Most importantly, while not compromising on quality, they paid attention to our budget. The challenge was to make a dark and chopped up apartment with small rooms into a modern airy space. TUG's designs made really radical changes in the floor plan, moving the living room and kitchen from the parlor floor to the second floor and putting two bedrooms and baths where the living room and kitchen had been. If we had to do any kind of design or remodel in future, I would not do it without TUG.
