Driven by founder Amy Kartheiser’s vision to bring happiness and warmth to the lives of others, AKD prioritizes compassion and forges strong relationships with clients, partners and the community with the spirit of giving back. As a child, Amy became immersed in the interior design world first-hand as she watched her mother’s design business flourish. With fond memories of scouring through glossy magazines and product samples, it was no surprise when Amy launched her own firm, AKD, in 2014 after years in the business sector. Known for designs that ignite the imagination, Amy scours the globe looking for inspiration. She finds joy in sourcing storied treasures that mirror the personality of each client and bring an added layer of interest to her projects. Amy’s unique world view and influences ensure each space creates a sense of comfort and curiosity. Today, Amy leads the design process with continued enthusiasm and creative vision. Her client-centric approach prioritizes transparent communication, impeccable service and commitment to integrity. Amy’s passions extend far beyond design — in 2019, Amy launched Under the Same Sky, an organization that aims to raise awareness about suicide prevention while also providing financial support for the mission and programming of American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Through bi-annual pop-up shops featuring unique finds from her global travels, Amy has found a way to bridge her love of design with a mission that is extremely close to her heart.
