Barbara Ann was easy to work with and a very good listener. The colors that she picked out for us to match with our brown wood molding, trim, doors & kitchen cabinets were beautiful. Barbara Ann is very good at what she does and I would recommend her to anyone I know.

We have hired Barbara several times over the last few years for many different types of projects, ranging from very small to very large.Some of the smaller projects she has worked on for us include online shopping (at our request) for dining room chairs and living room end tables. We hired her in 2013 to help us design and select finishes for a basement that we were having finished by the builder in Indiana while we lived in Florida and could not physically be on site. Most recently in February-May of this year, we hired her to design and project manage (select finishes, shopping, hiring and managing contractors, etc) a remodel job which focused mainly on the kitchen, but also included adding stone to our living room fireplace, painting and adding a backsplash/decor to our laundry room, and selecting a chandelier for our dining room. We have been incredibly pleased with Barbara's work each time. She is incredibly flexible and will adapt to any type of project you need completed. She consistently delivers as promised - on time and within a set budget. The main goal of our kitchen project was to take a small, limited space and transform it into a custom kitchen that was great for entertaining and could seat 7 around the bar. At the same time, however, we wanted to keep our existing cabinets to help keep the project within a more reasonable budget. Barbara designed a layout that would meet our goals and also fit the space/existing layout. She is fantastic at working with what you have and within the budget that you set. We started our kitchen remodel in February and Barbara warned us that based on the project timeline, it was likely that the project would not be complete by the time I gave birth to the twins I was expecting. When the inevitable happened, Barbara really went to bat to work with her contractors to make sure that my house was in liveable condition up until I gave birth and then managed to finish the bulk of the project while I was in the hospital so I came home to a functioning, if not completely finished, new kitchen.As Barbara gets to know us better, she had become incredibly adept at predicting which finishes/designs we will prefer based on our preferences and the style of our house. During the kitchen remodel, there were many items that we were so in love with at first glance, we didn't have any desire to look further (backsplash, quartz countertop, shelving). In some instances, particularly the kitchen island lighting, we just couldn't seem to make a decision. Barbara was incredibly patient with us and presented us with three different rounds of selections which she thought would work well in the kitchen. When none of those seemed to click with us, she took us shopping for an afternoon and we found several that would work, but still nothing that would blow us away. Everything she presented was well suited, but we just still couldn't pull the trigger. Later that evening, she sent me a message that she thought she had figured out what we were really looking for (even though we couldn't even put it in words why none of the choices were right for us) and she found two more selections that she thought would be "the one". She was right. Both of the light fixtures had the wow factor that we were looking for but couldn't explain to her. As you can see from the kitchen pictures, the island lighting truly steals the show. Of course, every home renovation has set backs and unexpected costs/issues. Barbara consistently identified and explained potential pitfalls - what could happen and how we would address it if it did happen. So when things went off course, we were prepared rather than surprised and she helped us work through a plan of attack to get back on course. She answered my calls and texts at all hours of the day and worked with me through every issue - regardless if it was large (we almost had to put a leg on our counter because of the weight!) or small (how should the under counter lights be spaced out?)We are completely "home renovation'd" out at this point, but if we ever did decide to do additional projects, we would not move forward without Barbara as our project manager and designer.

I needed inspiration and a start point and Barbara Ann accomplished that. She listens and ideas just start flowing. True professional. Look forward to working with her again.

Barbara Ann has been a friend of mine for a couple of years now. I've asked for her opinion on a couple small design-related things in my home and have been amazed and have loved every one of her ideas. In addition, she created a wonderful painted canvas for my new baby where the only input I gave her was the baby's name and the bedding. Recently I realized my living room/hallway needed an update but I did not have a lot of money to work with; Barbara Ann was more than willing to work within my budget and came up with some great ideas to work with the existing furniture and art I had to minimize cost. My room(s) turned out beautifully. She listened to what I wanted and was always quick and polite with answers to my questions, even when I asked the same thing multiple times :) I highly recommend Barbara Ann to anyone working with any budget -- you will not be disappointed!

Barbara recently did the design and decorating work for our new church facility - Water's Edge UMC in New Buffalo, Michigan. Imagine trying to satisfy 200 plus clients with 200 plus views. Not an easy task, yet she pulled it off. She was attentive to our vision and helped create a modern look with clean lines and a bit of an industrial feel. In addition to helping select colors, flooring and fixtures for the church Commons she also helped us select just the right furnishings to pull it all together. In short, she is a capable full-service designer. Warm and easy to work with, yet thoroughly profession and attentive to details, I highly recommend Barbara for your design and/or decorating project.

Barbara Holmes provided interior design expertise for the decorating of our new church, Water's Edge United Methodist Church, New Buffalo. It was an extensive job with office space, gathering space and classrooms to plan, foresee traffic flow, coordinate textures, fabrics and shapes of furniture and work under deadlines that were short. She was very professional and thorough in her approach, very flexible with church members and contractors, very prompt and dependable and she managed to please a varied age congregation and friends!

I hired Barbara Ann to update my kitchen/sunroom area. After 15 years it needed a facelift. Barbara listened to my wants and needs and offered great advice and expertise above and beyond what I could have imagined. She is very confident, pulled the entire project together, was timely for appointments, was highly dependable and trustworthy. Most of the work was done during the day while I was away at work. I have received rave reviews from family and friends on the makeover. Barbara will be starting an update to my living room and foyer next month.

Barbara was asked to provide interior decorating advice for a new church building that we constructed. I was very impressed with her organizational capabilities and her knowledge of what colors, accessories, etc. should go in each room of the building. She made many trips on site, and even took time to spend an entire day with our team as we went to the builder's headquarters to pick out items. She was mindful of our budget, and managed her work accordingly. Whenver I had a question about what should go in a room, she knew exactly what the answer was. There have been many, many complements about how beautiful the building is, and much of that is a credit to her. Not only does she understand interior decorating, but she understands people and how to work with them. Based upon the superior job she did for us, I would highly recommend her.

I interviewed three designer in April, 2013 and selected Barbara Holmes. In comparison to the others, I found her ideas refreshing. I had her draw up a design to remodel the basement and the main floor. During the project phase, she spent most of the time designing the main floor. I was very pleased with the designs (HGTV quality). I had several contractors bid on the design. I decided, because of cost to remodel the basement. Barbara was very nice and immediately switch her efforts to designing the basement. Barbara reviewed the builder's contract and corrected omissions by the contractor. Barbara's services were invaluable during the construction phase. Her review ensured the quality of products being used. The project is almost complete. I would recommend her services to anyone. She has a good attitude, Her designs are very good and she is willing to listen and make changes according to your style. Barbara works on schedule and within budget and this type of help is needed when working with contractors.
