Black Lacquer Design did a phenomenal job on my eclectic custom built home in Los Angeles. The founder and main designer Caitlin Murray came up with many brilliant ideas for the house (too numerous to list here), and also knew where to source just the right material for items like shower tiles, kitchen countertops, doorknobs, door hinges, bathroom fixtures, etc. I think when Caitlin first met me she probably thought I was a bit crazy cause my plan was to combine many different styles reflecting my own abnormal life: old Hollywood glamour, traditional New England, European, mid-century modern, and China (where I have spent over 1/2 of my life). So putting together into a tasteful whole such disparate elements probably caused some panic in the beginning. But Caitlin is so smart and creative that the end result really exceeded my expectations. It was a labor of love, with an emphasis on both labor and love. I also had a great time working with the entire team at Black Lacquer. I think that's very important in selecting an interior designer too, since as a client you will be spending a lot of time with your design team. You must really enjoy the people you are working with, and I certainly enjoyed everyone at Black Lacquer. They are all very smart and cool!! I am very confident that Caitlin and her team will continue to flourish. Much love, from a very appreciative crazy man enjoying all the things you did both big and small.

I cannot say enough about Black Lacquer Design and Caitlin. It is somewhat intimidating for a first timer to approach a professional designer and discuss your likes, dislikes, and something as intimate as your home and living space, but Caitlin is so disarming and professional that i cannot imagine another home not designed by her. When I bought a loft style condo in the West Loop of Chicago I had a few ideas in mind for an industrial modern looking space with clean lines and cool colors, but the picture in my mind looks like a shaky crayon drawing of a three year old compared to the rembrandt Caitlin designed for me. No detail was too small and the complete design that she created blew me, and all of my subsequent guests, away and was exactly what I wanted. I was also a little nervous about the cost of the service and the cost of the pieces that she would chose, but Caitlin and I discussed a budget and she more than delivered based on what I had available. Working with a professional actually leads to a lot of discounts and I was amazed with what we could do without going overboard. This condo is my dream space and Black Lacquer Design killed it with every choice and recommendation. I am forever indebted to this team for making everyone believe that I have such great style

Black Lacquer Design is one of the best design firms we have ever worked with! We've worked with some of the most high end designers in the country to deliver hundreds of condominium and townhouses across the U.S. While we've had excellent service from those designers, I decided to engage Black Lacquer Design to help me deliver my first Restaurant in Indianapolis, Sangrita Saloon. Needless to say, Sangrita is an overnight success and I whole heartedly believe we can attribute a large part of that success to our wonderful designer at Black Lacquer Design. Other restaurants have attempted to deliver a similar type experience, but because of the skilled design work provided by Black Lacquer, we can truly say that our place has one of the most intimate vibes in the city and will rival any tequila bar in the world! Black Lacquer seriously knows how to deliver truly unique / one of a kind designs, and top notch customer service and professionalism, all while meeting our budget expectations. Black Lacquer Design totally rocks! Caitlin Murray provided me with exactly what I needed. I love my apartment but it desperately needed some revamping! Caitlin advised me on appropriate paint colors and helped me source some fresh window treatments. It honestly made all the difference in the world! She also guided me on how to create focal vignettes in my home, utilizing pre-existing "smalls" and keepsakes that I want to highlight. I absolutely adore these areas. I would whole-heartedly recommend Black Lacquer to anyone who is looking for a friendly and easy-going designer who will listen to your requests and deliver professional design services in a timely matter. Caitlin is truly one-of-a-kind!

Black Lacquer Design designed our baby girl's nursery. Preparing for your first baby can be super stressful, but designing the nursery was a breeze with Caitlin. I didn't have to worry about it being completed and looking stunning. I wanted it to be soft, calming, romantic and classic. Caitlin listened to my ideas and made my dream come true. She nailed every piece. From helping us pick our antique furniture, incorporating a wrought iron crib, selecting the gold fabric on the glider to finding the custom made angel wings, I love every piece. My favorite items are the crib and angel wings. They make a statement like I have never seen before in a nursery. I would highly recommend Black Lacquer Design for all your designing needs. She truly knows how to make something classic, beautiful and with a statement.

I can't rave enough about Caitlin. Not only was the whole experience fast, (which it needed to be since we were under an extreme deadline) she was response, creative, and always thoughtful in her design. Her styleboards, which she provided after our initial consultation, explained all of the pieces she was selecting and why. While I liked 95% of the choices she made, there were a couple changes I requested which she was very receptive to. All in all, the whole process was an A+ super smooth experience. I LOVE the way everything turned out. She took my home from feeling good to feeling amazing -- and I've already received a lot of compliments. I love coming home now, and I love how the space feels. She really captured my style and amplified it.

Caitlin did a fantastic job on my home renovation in the West Hollywood hills. I set expectations for the broad scope of work, but Caitlin really dove into the details and the end product was quite remarkable. She also pushed me to go outside my comfort zone with some bold choices, and the results were nothing short of stunning. I won't hesitate to recommend Caitlin in the future, not to mention use her myself. In fact, several family members have already begun using her services for their design needs.
